Ok, I seriously belive the Steelers cheated.

They take away a TD for "Pass Interferance"

Lol? He was CATCHING the pass

And steelers first TD?

Lol he PUSHED THE BALL OVER THE LINE!

I think the Refs had money on pit........

Don't forget the mysterious holding call that took the ball away from the 1 yard line. Which forced seattle to make a risky pass which resulted in an interception. Then tacking on another 15 yards for a legal tackle. I've never seen such poor ref'ing of a professional game.

If the steelers had actually won it would be different, but to just be handed over the game like that is ridiculous.

Personally, im a Steelers fan, but that was very poor ref'ing. Yeah, im happy the Steelers won, but they basically had the game handed over to them :(. There wasnt really too much of a point to watch the Superbowl except for the commercials...they were hilarious!

I'm not going to say much, because I hate whining about bad calls, but here's a piece from Chicago...

Very well done, and he makes great points. I'm surprised by the level of complaint outside of the Northwest. It seems like many feel something was wrong...

ALRIGHT LGM!!!! I knew you couldn't resist. To large of an injustice has been done. XD

What about the "non-fumble" call when what's his name caught the ball, landed both feet, then got drilled?

Yes, there were some horrendous calls...I still think the "Ben @ the goaline" call was fair, as I thought the reply clearly showed the ball breaking the plane. You need conclusive evidence to overturn.

I will concede on the other calls...yes, it probably wasn't offensive PI in the endzone, and the Hasselbeck call was pure junk. That being said, some teams fight through bad calls (Polamulu interception revoke), although the Hawks got quite an unfair share.

The refs had a bad year all the way around this year. I just found out that the refs aren't even full-time employees of the NFL. What is up with that?

We've been babied by the previous few Bowl games. They were great games that came down to the wire. People are now expecting Vinatieri to nail one as time expires. Unfortunately, most Bowl games are lousy and both team too nervous to play their best. Yes, the refs making some bad calls throughout the playoffs did taint things even more.

You gotta give props to the Steelers though. What they did was incredible and completely unexpected.

I still think it was interference on Jackson though in the endzone. Sure looked like he stiff armed Hope to me.

Like a midget at a urinal, I was going to have to be on my toes.

Invite a retard to a picnic and you'd better expect to get drool in the potato salad.

@ Prof- yeah, I don't think that was a good call either.

As far as the touchdown, I don't think he was in, but by rule, once the ref called it a TD, there has to be indisputable evidence to reverse the call. The replay wasn't clear enough to make that judgement, so we get what we have.

(I've seen the replay many times. One time I think the ball breaks the plane, another time, I think it's not the ball, but part of his arm. I can't quite make up my mind. Very tough to see. Maybe a bright green ball would help...)

I do wish everyone would take a little time to be an umpire or ref. I did for a little while, and hated it. People really don't get how tough it is.

I wouldn't want that job, but c'mon- the NFL refs should be better than that.

I live in Pittsburgh. It was crazy, the whole town was Black and Gold. I took my 4-year-old daughter outside after the win and she was amazed the whole city was cheering, honking horns, setting off fireworks... Meanwhile, my students turned cars over in the streets of Oakland (the campus district).

Sure everyone here is happy, but if you talk to people here, they too realize the the game was pretty much handed to the "Stillers." Proud, yes, but also, we all know that it was not a pretty game nor a very clean win. I think people here will focus on the 2 great plays and the turn around we pulled off mid season and just ignore/forget the bad calls we all saw.

One for the thumb in Steel Town.

Again, congrats. For the Steelers to even have been in the AFC Championship was pretty amazing... To run it from a lackluster midseason record to "one for the thumb" is remarkable.

(Is the thumb the one in the middle? J/k ;) )

The Steelers could have won even if the refs had called it differently. And some people would be a lot happier.
My argument for the case: If a guy can run over the line with the ball, then the ball isn't touching the ground of end zone. So, why did it apparently (well, in The Gospel According to Soap) have to touch the ground for that particular occasion?
