Aye! I decided to work with a couple of maps and try to morph them into the normandy campaign from WWII. Here is the first map. I started with the first battle (tried to duplicate as well as possible)

D-Day

Mod Description: This is supposed to look like Utah Beach. There is one or two weakspots in the wall (peices of the "road" object) and there are a couple of tank traps. The battlescared beack is loaded with craters for cover, and it is three-shot kill for the default. Green spawns on the beach, blue spawns on the very back of the map. Blue occupies the German trenches, green is trying to seige the trenches. This might be a slightly good map for repents new gametype, too. I still need Modwiz it, but once I do, I will be talking to some people about hosting. Speaking of which, I need to see where my desert warfare hoster is... PLAYER! :)

Trenches of Berginy

My mod is eating me! AAAAH!

Mod Description: This is placed in a small forest area named Berginy. This was a major point, as German gun placements were dug in here, killing out men on the beach. The forest sucks, but if I where to make a real one, the object load would be forever... (I tried it). This was the best way. Just try to imagine a forest instead of raised, green land and sparesly placed tree's. If anyone has a couple howizter objects, that would be a great addition too :P. Now, if anyone can export blender for me [cough]Warfare[/cough], I would be able to get a size scale on what I am supposed to do here, and I could really get the creative juices flowing... Muahahahahaha!

PS- I will need to get that done soon for the next stage of this mod. Any helpers will get special privelages!

Pardon my rudeness, I cannot abide useless people.

^ sorry, didn't see you before

I will make it so that the defualt has a longer, but less shots fire burtrate. Ei, it will shoot for a longer time (proly 3 secs) but it will fire the smae, or less amount of shots than the original.

Here is the first map.

Is there a picture? It sounds like there would be, but I can't see one.

You don't have to let go of one rope before grabbing the other. But you'll have to let go of one if you want to swing forward.

Yeah. How bout I just email the unfinished map to you triv. That might be easier!

Now I've been outed. :(

I'm also working on a WW2 based mod, Omaha 2.

I didn't want to say anything before I was finished, but I didn't want to seem like a copy cat either. I guess great minds think alike. I had already mentioned this to LoneWolf, so he can vouch for me.

I'm doing the same thing as PGG, modeling the map based on the actual beach and trying to incorporate some custom elements to make it more like the actual battle. It will be interesting to see how we both interpret the same theme.

^ yours will most likely be better. I am still trying to figure out how to get some buildings that look all bombed out or a bunker or something. Now if only I could export blender files...

Funny, I've also been working on a D-day mod.

You guys have any good pictures of areas of the actual site?
I've seen some footage, but I cant get a good look at what it actually looks like.
Maybe I should try to make it look like the saving private ryan beach. :)

Great job proud_gaminggeek, looks fun, when will it be up?

@ Rabban, I remember the old Omaha beach you made, now with more experience under your belt, youll make a great one.

@Paco - Actually, the original Omaha Beach was a mod put together by LC50. I asked him if I could redo it and he said it would be OK. I am taking a different approach than he did, and now we can make custom maps, so I'm sure it'll be a whole new experience.

@PGG & Rabban Love your ideas!

@Paco I used to live in Wexford,Ireland on the beach (Curracloe Beach) were they accually filmed that Saving Private Ryan scene... It was cool I met some actors etc. And got a ride in one of those old D-day ships.. As a present the director accually gave one of those ships to a local B & B who gave hospitalilty to some camera men.

Truth (I swere)..
I love this whole Europe thing.. People should make Mods for each Beach (Utah, Omaha, Gold , Juno and Sword) and have them hosted on a Eurpean Server.
I will try and get some pictures of the actual "D-Day" scene....(if you aren't bothered to read this, it goes off the point a bit)

WELL. You See Grand-dad accually faught frontline for Britain in the Royal Signals Unit and he had to message back to HQ what was happenin.
He Landed on Sword (the furthest east of all 5 beaches)
His Objective was his to blow up Gestapo HQ(a.k.a Nazi intelligence, most feared). Quite Ironically he and his unit were blown up by Nazis and only him and one friend survived!(still alive to this day, a bit deff though)

(I know its a weird link),but that's basically what we are looking at...

Anyway I will put some input into this thread as I am very interested and I'm sure my dad can rote out some pics of the scene to give some ideas.

Thank You,

Edger Jr

Cool!
saving private ryan is easily one of my favorite movies.
My grandpa was stationed in China fighting the Japanese. He was a radio operator/gunner on a b-24 bomber. He was the oldest guy on his plane and was a part of the Flying Tigers division. He received a Purple Heart medal when his bomber plane was attacked by Japanese zeros.
He is still alive today and lives in Minnesota.

Heres a pretty good picture. :)

^ what those maps don't show are two of the most important things from D-Day, and the only reason the allies won.

1) they where also bombing the north shore, so the germans thought that was where they were going to hit and

2) Hitlers bedroom. Thaaaaats right, ladies and gentlmen, one of the deciding factors of D-Day was that Hitler, all powerful and brilliant leader of germany, was taking a nap. Nobody had the guts to wake him up and ask him for his permission to deploy the 14 panzer division, thus, letting allied infantry cut through the beachhead (didn't really cut through, but compared to what could have happened if the Germans had some tanks there.... Yeah).

Pardon my rudeness, I cannot abide useless people.

Hey pgg can you send me the map so I can host it? Thanks. Oh and BTW never new that about Hitler's bedroom :P
