Move to Canada and be safe! Here we live in igloos and eat frozen Mammoth, yet we have the highest broadband connection per capita, which is what matters for gaming purpose. Plus we don't have Fox News yet!

Fox Newz just apply for a permit to be aired - much debated, for the CRTC (Canadian Communications ruling body) wonders if Fox is considered 'hate-mongering' TV. Seriously! So now the citizens and lobby groups are asked to present their petitions for / against adding this channel to the slay of cable choice. That's how it works here.

Al-Jezeira (the so-called Arab CNN) just was approved in Canada, with a 5 minutes transmission delay - in case something too extreme is shown, so that it can be edited before public showing.

Several are arguing against Fox - saying it is blatant propaganda, and too idiotic to deserved a TV spot. Most are saying 'whatever, 10,000 channels of crap on TV, let it air so that we can have fun watching those guys lambasting Canada' (which they occasionally do).

The Al-Jezeira auditions were interesting, since the Arabic population is rather small in Canada. Yet it was deemed crucial to see that face of the fence, that is, that side of the news..

Nah, I live in Canada and I REALLY prefer CBC. Fox said, during President George W. Bush's visit to Canada that {quote}Canadains think that they are superior to to Americans, when they aren't. We don't NEED Canada!{end quote}. FORGET IT! Even if Fox's license goes through, I still won't watch it.

Besides, I just went to "Lunch with Peter Mansbridge", Chief News correspondant for CBC and Broadcaster! ;)

Ben

Imho you'd have to think that if they broadcast al jazeira they're obligated to show fox. The U.S. Has fox, and for me it would be really interesting to see Al Jazeira over here. Question: Is the Arabic population in canada larger or smaller than the conservative population?

Btw is mammoth meat nice?

Lol Ben.

I don't want Fox Newz ANYWHERE, Canada, US, whatever. It has been dubbed, in my household, the channel of depression. My grandfather lives with us, and he watches Fox Newz all day, every day at full blast.

OM

I will light a candle and pray for all Canadiens that you don't get saddled with the abomination that is Faux News. Once country is bad enough.

I think Fox is a curiosity channel, as exotic as any, and would be fun to watch. %) And yes, Al-Jezeira I feel the same. Hell! I don't even have a TV at home!!!

I had that old link somewhere:

It is pretty small here. More in Quebec, the French province, for much of North Africa is French (Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, and also Lebanon). I'm on the West Coast, where the Pacific Ring network is more prevalent and Asian population very present, while the East Coast (of Canada) is more turned toward Europe and Africa.

Hey all the Canadians are coming out of the woodwork. Cool.

I'm glad they licensed Al-Jazeera as well as FOX. I'd rather have neither. But if I have to have one, then I'll take both. Thank God for the CBC.

My Dad and my sister live in NYC. I love the States. But I think you should all move here ;)
