First time I went on in a month and your dial up butt ruined the game
Not only did your tank survive 2 full clips but at one point ppl were driving right thru you
For Christ sake high speed is only $5-10 more per month than dial up
Either get with the program or play somewheres else

I have to agree with roo. You seem to be a nice guy Rob but you do seem to take the whole game down to an unenjoyable level due to performance issues. You should see if there's something simple you can fix with your connection or computer.

I've been sining this song for a few months now. I have been avoiding any game that Rob is in. I don' tknow if it's his ISP or his wireless but it is really bad.

Scenario:

Playing some good 3 on 3 ganes for about an hour, two new players drop in. Zombie gets the scrum and I bump him and go for the goal.

*&^%#$%* SOB!

No bump, I drove right through him. Pissed, I'm going to chase him down and get that damn scrum. I catch up to Zombie and start laying the smackdown, all of a sudden he's behind me! Who rewound the play? What the hell is this? How can I possibly hunt down somone who's popping in and out of the game?

Mr. Peeved has decided to avoid these games permanently. This make CADC look like he's running on Fiber Optic.

I just keep wondernig how can someone knowingly keep joining games to ruin it for 9 other people. People say he's nice? All I ever get is threats that if I ban him I or the servers hoster is gona pay.

Where can I sign for banning him from private servers , until he gets better connection.

Last night in my server which was full most of the night Rob was lagging so bad I asked him to leave, And he did just that with no complaints from him. His ping level was only around 120 but the lag was just awefull. I think he has programs running he may not be aware of or something. Rob if you need help knowing what is running in the back ground of your comp please ask for help. Alot of people would be glad to try to help you.

Yup Squids and the thing that piss's everyone off is he thinks it's so funny and even goes so far as to brag about it. So if he has all this time to make tanks or other projects maybe it's time for him to spend a little time picking up aluminum cans and trade them in for cash so he can afford a better connection.

P.S. Oh BTW he's banned from Roo's I'll e the heavy here, and another thing peeps we gonna make teams even in Roo' when I'm around XD

@Rob: C'mon man, I have high-speed dial-up, and it makes a world of difference, for only $5 more a month (making it a total of only $15 a month altogether for me).

DSL is only $14 a month through SBC (AT&T) here in California for most places except mine. I have this obnoxious company that wants to charge me $50 per month for DSL. (still steaming).

^ Yeah, but it all depends where you live, as you stated. Some people can't get DSL due to location. And the problem with Cable internet is that it is usually way too expensive. Which is why I say atleast go with a high speed dial-up (although if you can get DSL cheaply, go for it).

Alright I read all your dang posts...here's my problem I can play with lag that goes and stops or I can have jagged thinktanks lag which is like |-|-|-| per second. You know I like to play with real people and not stupid bots I'm sick and tired of the bots...

And seriously the hoster will pay if I get banned...I will not joke around anymore. I come into play in Roos but guess what...

I spend most of my time being a nice person and helping out people with things there too lazy to create...the only one who is doing that aswell is Testify (DJWINGS) I see him making logos and banners, thats what I do...the fact that I'm always busy with this crud I don't get to play a good game of scrum with some people (NOT BOTS) so I just get kicked after 5 minutes in the game so I"VE HAD ENOUGH OF THIS!!! It's let me play or I'm outta here life and you will no longer be seing new items by me, such as a new music pack (Trying To Upload), More Skins, Racing Mods, maybe a few Extras.

LET ME PLAY, OR I'M LEAVING THE GAME!

It doesn't seem like you read the above posts very carefully. You don't have to get so mad, Roo and the other admins are just asking you to take 5 or 10 minutes to reduce your lag. If you have high-speed internet then you should be having no problems. If you lag with high-speed internet then you need to make some changes. Here are some suggestions:

Don't use your wireless connection. Just connect directly to your network using a simple phone cord or ethernet cable, I'm sure you have one of those laying around somewhere. If that doesn't solve the problem then see what's running on your computer that might be causing lag. Some examples of programs that cause lag: Virus/spyware scanners, Instant messengers, other games (that would be a huge problem) and other resource-intensive tasks such as Photoshop, 3D rendering, etc.

1. Do what ^ said, it should help a lot (especially the last part).

2. Also, don't try threatening us, because we won't take it. There are plenty more people here who do just as much and/or more than you do for the community (take admins for example, they have to put up with all the noobs and child-like actions people do, which we all do at one point or another).

3. Also, you must realize, that it is nothing personal any admin has against you. They have the perspective of overall play to deal with. If you are lagging down the server and/or ruining the general play, they will kick you, just as I would expect them to do to me or anyone else who may be ruining a game. If you can fix the lag (which, failing all else, may mean switching ISPs to try and get rid of lag (although definitely not recommended) ), then admins will most likely let you back in their servers if you behave. But they are willing to sacrifice one person to have better for the rest. (I know, this s*cks for you, Rob, but in most cases, if you have high-speed internet, it shouldn't be anything more simpler than doing what ^ said.)

Rob: just want to reiterate the message. Nothing personal at all. But your connection is WAY worse than almost anyone else's. You need to think about not only your own experience, but how it affects everyone else's enjoyment of the game. Your presence makes a good balanced competitive game impossible. Why don't you describe your set-up so that we can help you fix the problem?

Rob I can understand what you are feeling from what is going on, I had to play with dial up for almost a year because I could not afford cable. I had to play in the shockwave servers and with bots most of the time, But also because I took more time becoming friends with people who made the maps instead of wanting to play the game I was able to go into there servers many times to play with real people, but there where those times when they wanted to have intense games, I understood this and would leave real fast before my lag became a problem. The respect I recieved for doing this made them want to take time to have games I could play in with my lag. Alot of the mods made sure I was able to play and have fun all the time. Napalm and ouch always made time for me to play. But you have to accept responsiblity and leave before people get mad. Not everyone can play the game for your sake all the time, these guys want intense action alot also. So just be patient for now, get a better connection when you can and just hang out.

I don't make banners for new armies, though, much less support them... Plus, your banners absolutely own.

@Jedi: no offence but your so called "High speed wireless internet" is a piece of rubbish - All wireless so far is rubbish for gaming, everything else its perfect for. (Please just get a router and play in a god damn ethernet cable.

Um, hate to break it to ya, but not all wireless connection may be bad. Me and Dark Angel play well with no lag (unless there are 10 + in server). I get pretty good games everyday with my so-called "rubbish" wireless connection.

@Rob, a while back I had wireless and it sounds like the same thing happens to you. It works great on the internet but it stinks on thinktanks. The way I fixed it is just used dial-up, yes it may be bad but it's a whole heck of a lot better than wireless (atleast for me). Not sure why it works better.. Maybe it's just my computer.

@Pedro: I never said I had wireless, that's Rob. I have high speed dial-up w/wire. Now Rob, if he'd just go to the local Radio Shack and pay a few bucks for a telephone wire...

I can't exactly give details of my connection but all I found is that it is Linksys...umm it's highspeed it goes wireless to my moms one...thats where I need the cord to go, if I get the cord it's fixed pretty much.

Thats weird - I also have Linksys and it works very well for me. Only a limited amount of lag in some servers.

Yeah, I also have a linksys, and normally get around 54 MBPS connection speed anywhere in my house...

How far way is it to the linksys? Can you run the wire under the house? Or under a rug or something?

I use a wireless G 54MBPs connection, and it is fine for gaming, but I am only 50 feet from the router. I also have a really good PC running Linux.

If you HAVE TO use wireless, buy a wireless repeater and/or buy an external antenna for your wireless card. That will keep the connection stable and at a good speed.

A quick test would be to drag your computer close enough to the router to hook up with an ethernet cable. If the performance is not improved then the next culprit to investigate is the computer.

^that thing with that my bro's computer had 500ping+ on TT he plays barely as Ultimate Weazel but besides that he hooked it up and has the lowest ping you'll ever see...so mines next XD

^actually I was wrong about my bros ping he has 205 MORE THAN ME AND HE DIRECT CONNECTED!!! I get in the hundreds only but his is outragous...except when I went in scrum bag I had 1005 ping for 1 second... XD so I shouldn't get the cord because it'll screw up me and give me 205 ping aswell so...sorry I can see what else I can do to get rid of it.

Ping is not the same as full data transfer. From what it sounds like, you are going through a wireless router to a second router. It also appears that your not reall interested in fixing this as you try to justify using it. I will still avoid agems your playing in.

Please don't take it personal, if someone was blowingcigarette smoke in my face I would move. Neither is a good experience.

I'm getting the same impression Napalm. Rob, please try connecting directly to your network using an ethernet cable. If you don't have one then steal your brother's for 5 minutes so you can try this. Don't pay attention to your ping, pay attention to how much you actually lag. If you still lag then close EVERY program that is running on your computer besides ThinkTanks.

I doubt you are giving your full energy to solve the problem. If you're clueless what is your computer made of find it out by bills or some random application to see what is made of. You can find such with help of google. Few to check out if they are few could be tweak now powerpack or aida. Collect the meaningfull computer and post it here to see. So more in-to-this-people can analylize your computer and try to see if you can tweak it better by some small things or upgrade or even suggest something to pay in the future. Also find out what is exactly your connection type, speed, who provides it. You could call the provides company and ask how's your line running. To try see if it's normal. Do you have some sort internet card outer box? Your net could even be set to not-so-good rate compared what would be the optimal. Have you ever looked if your computer is infected by viruses, spywares? They can slow down but rarely too dramatically. Serious ones pull your computer fully down. Do you live in a big city or somewhere country side? The length between you and provider can raise lag and that's also something you can't really effect yourself. Well you get the big picture you gotta try to check out things to see if something might actually be wrong and thus causing the problems. If you dont understand anything about computers so what? We live in an internet age so it could be a handly skill to know something about them. You can learn a lot by just using google as your friend. Post here when you more help... And be serious if you really want to try figure out if you can do something. The last thing anyone wants here to do is offer some of their time to help you when you aren't even trying/being serious.

I have linksys as a wireless choice and I live nowhere near any of you.... A sign perhaps... 8o

Suggestions on lag testing:
Make sure the computer is set for highest performance, energy saver settings are often default.
Power supply must be good, power strips not over loaded, too much plugged into one outlet can dog a machine.
Run a connection speed test, like this , to see upload/download speeds.
Check all of the phone or cable lines, outdated lines or loose connections can mess up connections. One old line can bottleneck.
