Ever dance with the devil in the pale moonlight?

So how about it?

Have you had any experiences related to the dark side? Has the Boogyman come to visit you on a night other than Halloween? Have you ever seen a demon, ghost, spirit or specter? Ever have that feeling of some evil presence in the car with you while driving all alone or almost see something out of the corner of you eye in the twlight that filled you with fear?

To borrow an emotion...Muahahahahah!

Not that I believe in ghosts, but I have witnessed some truly startling events that occurred over a series of months in a boarding house that I lived in. I will say that I saw some very tough, very macho men drop to their knees in fear, to be followed by them quickly moving out of the house. I would have to say that what I witnessed would be more closely defined as the work of a poltergeist than anything else. Something that could interact with the physical world. Very scary in a nightmarish way and something that I am not really comfortable with going into details about. There were people that lived in the house that are still emotionally scarred by the events. I even shot a high quality photo in the kitchen that includes something very, very surreal and incredibly scary. Gives me chills just to think about it. Maybe someday I will talk about it.... But not today.

My little sister would occasionally see my deceased big sister in the mirror when she was real little. She didn't know who it was until she described the girl to us.

As for me, I don't have much to say. I use to occasionally see shadows across my room like it was a busy street in New York. You know, like seeing an alley wall while many people are walking about. I stopped seeing it at night by the time I was 15. I have no idea what it was about, but they all seemed oblivious to me. So, nothing chilling, but just weird.

@TG: Yikes!

@Rabban: Hey! You started this thread! What about you?

Hey, I got one...

I grew up on a farm in rural oregon. We had devil worshippers who would occasionally sacrifice sheep in our area. One morning when I was in the 8th grade I went out to feed the calves, and there was a bloody hand prind on the door. A calf just inside near the door was dead. Its throat was slit, and its ears were severed, but there was no blood on the ground.

Dat scared the piss out of me.

The light in my room turns on for no reason at all... Before we moved in, the people across the street say that the light just randomly went on at night but it would go off before mourning. Now it happens to me too but only like once every 2 weeks. Pisses me off more then scares me.

How many things do you do?

Anyway, nothing really eerie here, except for the ocassional something falls in the middle of the night when no one is even near it type thing.

Tuesday, June 22, 2004 at 2:50:02 PM

I seem to be blissfully unaware of all these events. Maybe they don't like me and stay away, or maybe I'm just better at not seeing them.

OM

Same here TMO. I can't say I've ever had experiences with things that go bump (or whoooo!) in the night. I honestly think it's because I'm not "open" to any of it. I just choose not to go there, and I think people who do experience such stuff are more open to the whole thing.

I'm not saying I don't believe in spirits or such, just that I really want no part of it. I'm quite happy in the world of the living. My wife is more superstitious and open to this kind of stuff than I am. She sometimes claims to feel a "presence" of something near her. I have never felt it myself.

Tuesday, June 22, 2004 at 3:47:16 PM

Well, JB, you know an ole demon fighter such as myself has had all kinds of experiences with the forces of evil. B)

Most of my stuff happens when I'm asleep. I'm sure some will think I'm dreaming, but the experience is more like a vision. Instead of seeing something with my eyes, I experience it in my spirit. Basically, everything in the room is the same as when I'm awake, but I either see and/or interact with the spirit world. One thing for sure, there's a definite difference between these visions and a nightmare and I know the difference between the two.

One of the most vivid I remember was when we moved into a new house. We were sleeping on the floor. I remember lookng at the room from that perspective when a huge demon appeared above me, wings and horns to the max. We stuggled for awhile, then it suddenly picked me up and threw me toward the ceiling. I was basically plastered up there, hovering. I remember saying something like, "Jesus! Help me!" and waking up with a jolt, but I could still sense the presence of the demon.

But for something, "real world"...

The most interesting was actually during a Bible study at my mom's. There was a girl there who kept having a lot of problems, so after talking a good bit about what was bothering her she asked for prayer. The study leader stopped her and started asking her some questions as the rest of us began to pray for her. The leader had a feeling that the girl had a demon (as did most of us) and was waiting for it to be revealed. When the leader said something like, "Is your name...Incubus?", that's when it was GAME ON! The girl goes into this husky voice saying, "You can't have her" and "She's mine" while walking around the room trying to intimidate everyone with threats and verbal assaults. Of course, the leader wasn't having any of that and began speaking directly to the spirit within the girl while the rest of us continued to pray. There was a lot of spiritual things going on that day! To make a long session short, she ended up on the floor quivering and crying. She had been freed and couldn't remember how she had carried on, but we could all see a difference in her. Jesus - 1, demon - 0. XD

Lol michael, I know about as much about electrical wiring as I do christianity. They are both man made, very powerful, and they will both shock you if you don't follow their rules.

@TG: Man made? Heck, NEITHER of them are man-made! I always laugh when they say Benjamin INVENTED electricity.

@Michael: Either you have a remote switch (installed by people who are too lazy to run the wiring from the light to the switch) or your switch needs replacing. Is it a mechanical switch? Seriously, does it actually get physically flipped?

@Rabban: Never known of an exorcism first hand. I always thought it would be less obvious than that (seriously, making yourself know is losing half the battle). Anyhow, crazy stuff.

@James - Well, the demon didn't just have her jump up and say, "Devil Inside". There's the whole deal with discernment and allowing the Holy Spirit to guide one in these situations. That's why "V" asked her several questions to begin with, some of which weren't that related to what we were doing. It was almost as if she was getting the girl into the question answering mood while the Lord showed "V" what was really going on. The demon didn't speak until "V" had already discerned its name and called it out. It was really quiet up to that point, as if it were trying to hide. Once it knew it had been discovered, then it changed tactics and tried to scare everyone and act like it was in charge, but we all knew better.

*cough*I believe I was the one with the light problem... Not micheal... Lol

But anyways, my light has a cord that you pull down on so I can't really tell if it's physical, and it's not like I'm around/awake to hear if it is getting pulled because I either go up to my room and it's already on or I wake up in the night because I have the fricken light in my eyes. As I said, it pisses me of more then scares me...

Tuesday, June 22, 2004 at 7:04:58 PM

No, I've never experienced any malevolent apparition. But I've been so very lucky at moments that I might have a guardian angel! :o

I read a 60's Yamaha motorcycle owner's manual that warned not to ride in the center of the lane, for that is where the "road demons" live. Of course it's oil and debris that are the true hazards of the center of the lane. They are apparently a very superstitious culture.

Heres my addition"

My mother is an active member of my old church. One day during the week my mother was in the church to drop off some paperwork. The only other person there was the new secretary. The secretary was walking around like she was worried about somebody. My mother asked her what was going on and the new secretary said that she just saw an old women in the hallway looking thru the coatracks. The old woman wouldnt acknowledge her at all. My mother asked her to describe the old woman. The secretary said that she was old and short with short grey hair, long black dress and was carrying a large black purse. My mother said that she didnt know who that was. The secretary said that she saw her plain as day and when she came back down the hall she had just vanished. The secretary and my mother thought nothing of it. Later on in the week the secretary mentioned the encounter to the minister. The minister said that she was describing EXACTLY an older women who had passed away a few months ago. The new secretary wasnt at the church at that time and there was no way she could have described her. Whats more interesting is that the minister said he spotted her in the hallway during the week the day before she died. He said the last time she saw him she wanted to know if he had seen her black purse.

Ahem, James?

@TG: Man made? Heck, NEITHER of them are man-made! I always laugh when they say Benjamin INVENTED electricity.

If you notice I said "Electical Wiring" was man made, not electricity. I may be a girl, but I am also a gearhead.

Now religion is apparently a different story for me. Regarding Christianity, isn't that man made? God didn't invent christianity right? He just told everyone what they needed to do to get on his good side and humans had to organize the religion to make it all happen.... Right?/wrong?

Please lemme know.

Thanks...

(I am not making this up)

When I was way younger, I was sleeping in my bed in Mexico 1 night, and all of the sudden it got kinda chilly, so I opened my eyes, and what do I see? 7-8 eyes (all in a circul) on the ceilling! (so I ducked under my coveres and hoped it wasnīt gonna harm me. I check 20 seconds later, and they were gone.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Another night, not to far appart, I was asleep (same place) and I opened my eyes (at random time) and I saw (thx to a light post outside my room) what seemed to be the shadow of a black pumking wearing a witches hat, and flying in figure 8īs on a witches broom... I stared at it with heart stoping patience, and all of the sudden, it turned itīs pumking face towards me revealing his (Glowing bright yellow- orange) face with an evil green (and I actually heard itīs evil laughter) (by this time I was panicing) and after a 3 evil laughs, it actually passed the cosed curtains (which had cloed windows right behind) and was flying headed stright for me!!! (and that was the freaking last straw) I sprang out of bed screaming! And ran as fast as I could to reach the light swich... I turned the lights on... It was nowhere to be found... (I woke up every1 in the house (even my made all the way upstairs) from my very loud scream! (my heart had never pounded like that before, and I dought it ever will)

U might think Iīm crazy, but every wor is true (the Evil spirit actually manifested himself 2 me) but I am a Christian, and heīs never deared to try me again under Godīs protection over me ;)

Bless u God!! XD

Lol, Im Roman Catholic, but I start to actually believe that when people die, and they go to hell, they actually just stay on earth as a spirit or they just become an animal.

I know someone who has an imaginary friend, but I also start to think that this imaginary friend was a real person in real life. About 3 years ago, when I was in 3rd grade, I lived next to this7-yr old kid who I believed was a psychic. Let's just call him by his nickname: Cage. Cage had an imaginary friend named "Milton" and said that Milton was 13 years old. I asked Cage what Milton's last name was and he didnt even think to say that his full name was"Milton Ledet". I started to think this imaginary friend was a ghost, But I asked the landlord of this so-called person and I found out that Milton Ledet was a real person who lived in the same house as Cage 20yrs. Ago. And he also said that he died when he was 13 because Milton was in a car crash.

Scary. Well, I havent had any proofing ghost encounters myself, but there are just some of those suspicious moments when you're alone but you feel as though someone's watching you.

Well, thats my story.

@TG: Ah, yah, I jumped the gun a little there. True enough, wiring and the concept of religion are man-made. Pop-quiz, folks! How often does Jesus mention the word religion? Hee hee!

- BombJames Bomb

Wednesday, June 23, 2004 at 1:49:49 AM

@TG - you're having an insight of sorts. I think God created Christianity by sending Christ, but the organizational part of it all is basically man made. If you read in Acts, you pretty much have leaders and one group of believers per city and they sorta got together and did some things in common to worship God and fellowship with each other. There are five leadership positions mentioned in the NT, but I think it was supposed to be a lot more open than what it's become. We're supposed to be baptized and share communion, but even those things aren't supposed to be a big ceremony. Now as for as the OT goes, God (literally) laid down the Law with all sorts of ceremonies and rules meant to govern worship. Of course, part of Jesus' beef with the religious leaders of his day was that man had even added to THAT. So it seems to be a natural thing for man to want to organize and control whatever he does and that includes his faith with the by product being religion. Most denominations have a program within the church as well as a national hierarchical structure. Even most independants still follow a certain form since that's what most folks grew up with.

Fortunately, there's a growing awareness within some Christian circles that we've gotten stuck in a religion and that leadership has turned into a profession. The hope is that we begin deconstructing the restraints we've placed on ourselves and return to the example given to us by the early church as recorded in the book of Acts and get down to loving and serving one another.

Funny that this thread is called "When the Demon comes a callin'" and suddenly we have again branched off onto a religious slant. LOL. All it took was one mention of the word Christianity and the gates opened.....

Seems it happens to most threads these days, eh?

Wednesday, June 23, 2004 at 3:48:55 PM

Ah heck, we might as well give up and start a ThinkTank religion. If I had time, I'd start the commandments. Perhaps a new thread over the weekend? At least we'll finally have a religion that isn't biased against lesbians (cause we all love 'em)! Then we'll finally be able to start our crusade against scrum-divers!

We'll name HugoBrain as a priest so he can do the marriage service for TankGirl and Caryn.

Wait, what thread is this? Oops, just a TAD of a tangent. Demons...errr...oh! Notice how you can just drop an "n" and Demons become Demos? Coincidence? Ward them off with thy Holy Area Effect!

Been away too long to respond to this earlier so...

Yeah I've seen, heard, and sensed things that were kinda scary. And any time I do either because I dont believe it or I ignore it because I dont want to know it's there, I'll just act all tough and say something like "oh you want some a this? Yah you best run ya gay ghost." dont know why but it calms me down. Guess I'm just too much for ghosts. " what are you doing here? Ya wanna die? Lets go! Come on b!tch!"

Who knows? Guess I'm just weird.

Yeah I was on a mission trip for 8 days only to come home and find my computer all virused up, and we got that fixed yesterday sometime. So lets see 8+5=13 and I'll round it up to two weeks I was gone. Or more, I forget.

But believe me I can indimidate a ghost or two

Saturday, June 26, 2004 at 12:01:35 AM

I got a couple stories I could add...

When I was kid, like 4 or 5... I was sleeping and I woke up to find my head resting in the lap of the most beautiful woman I had ever seen... She had long straight black hair, big golden brown eyes with long lashes. A warm and gentle smile, creamy silky skin... I'll never forget that smile! It could sooth the deepest of wounds!

She was wearing a red rob and gently caressing the hair on my head. She was so beautiful, she was radiating with a warm gentle glow which circled her head. I looked up at her and asked... "who are you?" and in a warm soothing voice she said "go back to sleep Daniel, you're going to be okay". It was so comfortable lying there on her lap. As if in a fantasy, I closed my eye's a drifted back into dream land without a hint of fear or anger... Nothing but love...

I woke up that morning in my dirty old bed with my lice infested pillow and realized for the first time in a long time, that the sun was shinning! For those of you who don't know... I didn't really have much of a childhood... But on that night, on that morning... For that one day... I was a kid.

It was over 25 years ago and I still remember it like it was yesterday. 2 minutes of pure innocence. For all the woes in my life, I'll always have those two minutes to remind me that there is good in this world.

To this day I'm convinced that I met my guardian Angel that night. She was an Angel... My lady in red...

I don't really have any concrete spiritual/mystical experiences to share, and definitely nothing as good as the accounts of Rabban, Bolo, or Atreyu.. Or most of the other stories even. But I do have one dream that I think I'll always remember. It was at least around 6 years ago, when I was about 7 or so. I don't remember much about the dream; when it was, how I felt about it, or anything, except for one image which I feel like I'll never forget. It's this dark image of an impossibly steep hill, maybe 200 feet high, just sort of a minature mesa or something, with very steep sides and a flat top. The hill has a small path winding up it, spiraling around and around, until it reaches the top. The hill is very rocky, with crumbling sides worn by the elements. There are a few scraggly trees on the hill, without many leaves. The hill rises out of a completely flat plain which extends on all sides. And the side of the hill away from me is in flames. I can't actually see the color of the hill, just very dim outlines, because the shape is backlit by an eerie red-orange glow. Some of the scraggly trees are on fire, and dim smoke rises. Flames line the sides of the hill, and between me and the burning hill are a half-dozen fire trucks of all kinds, with their sirens flashing silently. I can't see any people, just a dark scene of fire trucks in front of a hill lit by raging firelight. All I can hear is the low sound of crackling flames.

I have absolutely no idea what this dream means. I've certainly never seen any burning hills in real life, and I've never had a dream like it since. I don't even think of the dream as a nightmare.. More like an odd occurence. I wouldn't go so far as to call it an omen, but it felt sort of like one. It's very different from the dreams I usually have, which are indistinct and which I can't usually remember at all. I doubt that I will ever understand my burning hill.

I see dead people.

No, wait...I think that was somebody else...in a movie, I think.

Oh, I know. One time I was in the woods with a couple friends shooting some video and we found a bunch of eerie sticks. No, wait....I think that was a movie too. I'm confused now.

OK, now I remember. One time I walked into my sister's room and she was flopping on the bed and her face looked really bad. And then she puked and her head spun around in a circle. Wait a second...I think that was a movie too.

OK...this one I'm sure about. I was a teenager at summer camp and was making out with my girlfriend when all of a sudden....ummmm....

No. I guess nothing has really happened to me.
