I don't see the server. From what you said, it doesn't look like a connection problem. It could be a problem with the map. Check the console for any errors, if you're not sure then post a picture here.
Thanks for checking Player. I don't think there are any errors in the console. I will attempt to post a picture though. Never done this before but here goes...

Everything looks good. Here's something else you could check:
Open game/server/prefs.cs
Look for this line:
$Pref::Server::DisplayOnMaster = "Always
";
Make sure that it is set to "Always".
Yes already checked that. Can you tell from my console pic if I'm communicating with the master server or not?
I'm gonna try something else. I'm going to get the old comp out of the closet, plug it directly into the cable modem and try to start the server. That way I can eliminate the possibility of the router being the problem.
I have ports 28000 and 28001, and it works. What type of router do you have?
Cloud
I have a Belkin wired router ( F5D5231-4). Pretty sure I opened ports correctly as I've done it before with other applications without any problems.
My idea of hooking the modem directly to the computer didn't work. Apparently it's configured to work with the router only as I couldn't get an internet connection. And I don't want the hassle of changing it and then changing it back again ( probably a 10 hr. Job for a computer noob like me).
Can someone look at this pic of console log and tell me if this is normal...
It looks to me like my comp is communicating with the server. And if it is, does that mean my ports are open correctly and my router is not the problem?
As I said before, I'm stumped. Could I be overlooking something incredibly simple? It wouldn't be the first time!
Looks normal to me. But I dont think thats the problem. If you have a belkin router then you should know that you can open all ports to test if your server is working. Dont have it open for more than 5 minutes else that will be it for your computer. There should be something called the DMZ. Click that and you should be able to open all routers to see if your server will show. If it does that means its a router problem. ( Im a noob at this) Best we had cuc or rooster here.
Cloud
Thanks for trying to help Cloud, but I already tried all that. Dropped both firewalls (the one on the router and another one I have on the comp). And I already tried the DMZ which I believe just opens the firewall on one computer in the network.
I think you're right, I need a real techie for this problem. I know there's plenty of them around here, just need one to see this thread.
If you give me your I.P. Address and put up your server, I will try to join it using the IP Joiner. If I can join, then the server's working fine, it's just not communicating with the master server.
OK Player, I sent you my IP. I'll start the server now and leave it running.
Sorry, but I couldn't connect to your server. Something still must be bloking it. I'm stuck, you should probably talk to someone like Roo.
Thanks again Player. I'll try to get in touch with Rooster.
Possible to hook the computer straight to the cable modem (no router) ? It looks like your connected the master server, just have to narrow down what is still hiding you.
Didn't have much luck with that. I read in a tech forum that you must un-plug the modem for a half hour to make it "forget" the MAC address of the router. I tried that but it didn't work. Probably have to change all the network settings on the computer, too. But I really don't think it's the router because I left the server up one night with router ports open, but my McAfee firewall up. The McAfee has a log which shows all un-solicited attempts made by other comps to get through the firewall. It showed 3 instances of the master server trying to get through. So it must be getting past the router. I have opened the same ports in the McAfee firewall and entered the master server IP as an exception to get through. And of course I have dropped the firewall completely several times, still no luck.
I still think it may just be a poor connection to the master server. I have tried pinging the server and always get a "timed-out" or a very high ping ( 700+). Yet I'm able to play in the shockwave servers with much lower ping ( 80-90ms ). I don't understand that. Well I still work on this problem from time to time so if anyone has any ideas just chime in!
BBBB LOL~~~~~~!!!!!
Happens 2 me to. My server never shows
I have a wireless router port 28000
HELP IM IN JAIL
After much frustration I went and bought a new Linksys router. Forwarded the ports and the server works fine. It seems the Belkin was too slow and kept timing-out ( even with ports open or DMZ enabled ). Thanks for the help everyone.
^^ Yeah, I've seen your server now. Glad you've got it working.

This is a weird one. I don't think my server is showing to other people even though I've opened ports UDP 28000-28010 on my router. I have even completely disabled the router firewall and my windows firewall...still no luck. I'm pretty sure it's not showing because it only shows once on my game console at zero ping. I believe it should show again at higher ping through the master server. I've also checked the gnometech monitor but didn't see it there either. I have Comcast cable internet and never had any connection problems. My computer seems to be communicating with the server as it reads "recieved info request from a master server" and "sending heartbeat to master server" in the console window. Is it possible that I just have a very slow connection to the master server? I'm stumped.
Well I'm leaving it running, just in case. Name is "Piggies". I'd appreciate it if someone would check their list to see if it's there and post back. Thanks.
