My mom emailed me this website being the paranoid mother that she is. I was thinking "mom, there are no evil people around here." Then I find out I have 3 convinted child molestors living in my area, a whopping 5 rapists, 6 convicted sexual batteries, and 9 people convicted of "other crimes". Provides a picture of the convict and some backround stuff. Very creepy, to be honest.

This topic always brings back a little laughter for me. My cousin bought a place on the other side of the city because "It's safer here". Then after he bought his house the Megan's law came out and he check the site. Much to his dismay he had a sex offender living 5 houses down on both sides and around 80 in his zip code.

He also complained loudly about how my area wasn't safe. The nearest sex offender to me is over 1/2 mile away and there is only 14 in my zip code.

Sacramento publishes the address of every reported crime on their website (unless victims privacy is at stake). So I downloaded the entire police record for the whole city for the past 5 years and mapped them out before I moved. I found that one of the places I thought about moving into had ben burglurized 3 months prior, hmm.. No longer interested.
