Survivor is running on the regular PTT server, CTF is running on the new one. Let me know how the expirence is. If there's no lag I'll expirement with adding a 2nd TT Server on the new machine.

Game is smooth, smooth as I've ever seen it! NO lag present, not even in combat or if you ram into things.

Wednesday, November 24, 2004 at 8:45:53 PM

Amazing. Absolutely amazing. No lag at all. Perfectly smooth. Like heaven. Anyway, got to go and play! YAHOOO!!! XD

Wednesday, November 24, 2004 at 8:46:51 PM

YES!! Just played an AWESOME game of CTF. Tied… great way to come back to it.

Wednesday, November 24, 2004 at 9:17:59 PM

Absolutely great. :D Just finished a game of CTF, tied as well. Lagged maybe once, but it was a second or less.

Wednesday, November 24, 2004 at 9:19:13 PM

^ We were in the same game :) :) I did see a VERY short freeze… but were fine for the most part. SOO much better then before.

Wednesday, November 24, 2004 at 9:46:27 PM

The short freeze may have been me messing around on the server... I was poking around a bit. Glad to hear it's working out. The CPU utilization is only at 50% or so. So I think I'll be able to host another game as well.

Wednesday, November 24, 2004 at 9:58:12 PM

Yah there isn't as much lag as before (which is a very big improvement!), but there is still too much lag >_<
Too much as in, it'll freeze up like every 30 seconds or so, and firing rate is random. I dunno if maybe it's because of the extra traffic cos of the holidays, if it's the server, or if it's just me...

But anyways, this is a vast improvement. (Though I've only seen Survivor up...haven't seen CTF up today)

Hola Dan me like!

Warriors... Come out and play-yay! WARRIORS!!! COME OUT AND PLAY-YAY!!!!!

Thursday, November 25, 2004 at 1:33:38 AM

Survivor is still on the origional PTT server, im going to try moving it over to the new server sometime in the next day or so and just let this server do website stuff.

Thursday, November 25, 2004 at 2:25:28 AM

Ya thats cool did fast visit in the ctf server just and didnt see the lag sign at all. All you need anymore are other players to there.
I would like to make a request. Is it by anymeans possible that you can get rid of some maps in survivor. I cant stand some of this maps. They are just terrible, hopefully the ones who made them understand me and dont get upset now. I dont know if you Dan, yourself visit there often and have seen all of them, but some of this maps takes a pretty long time to load up and the maps arent worth of waiting. Im mainly talking about the maps which have been added to survivor last time.

You don't have to let go of one rope before grabbing the other. But you'll have to let go of one if you want to swing forward.

Thursday, November 25, 2004 at 6:01:31 AM

Woohoo! Great job to Dan and all who donated.

Thursday, November 25, 2004 at 8:04:40 AM

Nice work Dan. Nice to be able to get back into survivor and lay the smack down on Paco.. well.. Until the end of the game.. When he pulled ahead... *cough*

I moved survivor to the new server, so now CTF and Survivor are running on the new box. Let me know how it goes. I logged in and didn't notice any lag... It will be nice not to have to take the site down to host CTF Matches ;)

Hi Dan
Just an FYI
I have been running two servers on a lesser machine
for about a month now with no significant loss in performance
Although there is a break point
I had the Gameserver hosting 2 maps and I had my lappy hosting a new mod
while I was playing on my desktop. When ppl were downloading the mod
and I was playing sk from Australia everything lagged out. So I shut the mod down
and the issues cleared up.
Thanks for the new TT games and thanks so much for a wonderful website
Roo

O Dan

(maybe in the "Other Stuff" section)
U know Eliminate the Wait!!!
lol
just a thought

Rooster its that way every time, even if you have been on that mod. B)

Saturday, November 27, 2004 at 3:41:05 AM

That's not true. The first time you join to a game, loading will be longer than the next time you join that map. The loading time will be slightly shorther. At first time the game loads up datablocks, objects and lighting. When you join to same map again it will anymore load only datablocks and objects. The game creates itself a.ml file at first time you load it(.ml stands for mission lighting? ).

You don't have to let go of one rope before grabbing the other. But you'll have to let go of one if you want to swing forward.

Saturday, November 27, 2004 at 5:22:48 AM

Triv, ML stands for Mission Lighting and are kinda of classed as Game Cookies. I do have a mum which works for IT, she should know!

WOW, thanks Santa!.......I mean Dan!. Lag free ctf. Sigh......... Been away for awhile. Hope my skills come back. Guess it's donation time. Thanks Cat for the mail.
Boy I missed getting shot to hell by you guys.

Saturday, November 27, 2004 at 11:41:22 PM

BTW concerning Paypal, I want my ptt name to appear as the person sending the donation. I couldn't find any feature to change the name. Any help?

Sunday, November 28, 2004 at 12:03:02 AM

If your making donations, be sure you are logged into PTT. If you are not it will just take your name from paypal. I can make the switch, but I have a situation that DEMANDS my attention. If all goes well I'll let you know what it is tomorrow :D

GOD I LOVE THIS GAME!!!! (CTF that is)

Dan,
If you get some time… do you think you can check out that kick script for team killing?? I was just in a few games, and there was this guy "boom" that was constantly team killing, but never got kicked. Afterwards, if we were smoking a few of us would take each other out to get a new tank since nobody was getting kicked for it. If no that, I would like to suggest a having a few moderators, preferrably Dash's admin script. It's a really nice script and it's already done for you :)

Sunday, November 28, 2004 at 1:00:40 PM

I tried it out for the first time. It was... Amazing. This game type is truly amazing! I will see if I can scratch together any money and send it to an address by mail, considering I don't have PayPal.
Can someone help me figure out where to send it? Or give me a page with the information? Thanks everyone!

A new CTFer,
PIP

Admin codes for usual and trusting players is definitely a necessity. Someone came in as a heavy and just started randomly driving around the map. After he was asked if he's playing… he became MIA. Next game, he was still in but still MIA. Normally, if in Dash's servers… I would be able to kick him so that a new player could come in. This time we're just stuck with it :( So everyone left.

During last season's CTF tournament, -z- had some really cool scripts loaded up that addressed 90% of what y'all are talking about.

Sunday, November 28, 2004 at 8:15:06 PM

^ Explain please :)

Sunday, November 28, 2004 at 8:16:17 PM

Hola Dan!

Me would like to ask if there is a way to add Frantic map game play in CTF?
Or perhaps a way to rotate between the CTF Frantic and Lush maps like it worked before?

Miss 'em. 8o

Nice playin' with yall... It's been fun havin' CTF back :P

I'm not sure my stuff will be compatible with -z-'s admin system at all. But It's available if needed. There is an admin system in place now on that server, -z- used to use it all the time.
I think that is what chief is talking about. The only problem is -z- is gone and there are no other admins.

Sunday, November 28, 2004 at 8:49:38 PM

^ Yeah :(

^^ There WAS a frantic map that was actually pretty good, it was a variation of Receptor's Ridge. I don't know if it's just not there anymore, or I just happened to haven't been there while it's come up.
Come to think of it… there was also a few spooky maps too. I think something might be different now… I've only seen lush maps so far.

Sunday, November 28, 2004 at 9:05:27 PM

I havn't figured out the admin stuff yet, z had a really slick system. It had a UI on the client with TT styled dialog boxes and everything. I will have to figure it out soon.

Been a while since I last played CTF, and had some real good games with both El Fuego, and V2 Tanker today. NO lag present, and some really nice smooth gaming.

Good work,

SK

Is it me....I can't see either one of the PTT servers?

Thursday, December 02, 2004 at 5:25:17 AM

No I can not see them either ! B)

Thursday, December 02, 2004 at 5:26:26 AM

Awesome

Sunday, December 19, 2004 at 12:35:26 PM

@dan, HOW THE [excerpt deleted] DID YOU GET THE PTT SERVERS TO BE LAG FREE??? Is it a script? Or is it just the fact that PTT is running at... Lemme see... 4000MHz?

Sunday, December 19, 2004 at 1:49:19 PM

Pretty much, a lot of PTT members chipped in and we got a dedicated server from hypernia.net. It's on a triply redundant backbone that automatically routes connections down the pipe with the lowest ping. Plus it's a pretty fast Hyperthreadded server with an 800mhz Front Side Buss.

Sunday, December 19, 2004 at 3:39:00 PM

Just a note. Sometimes I have to refresh the server screen a few times to even see ctf. Anyone shed some light on this?
CTF is empty a lot. I hope this isn't the reason.

Sunday, December 19, 2004 at 8:20:41 PM

They said something about dropped packets, I need to look into that

Sunday, December 19, 2004 at 9:54:35 PM

I have been having the same problem sporadically - but only on spooky terrains?
