I decided to make the various AIs I create available to other hosters since I am not able to host any games myself. Right now there is only 1 AI in the file, but as I create others that are significantly different in behavior I will add them to the file as well.

I decided to keep the actual settings private for now, so all that's included in here is the dso files. What that means is that you will not be able to view the settings or add your own tanks to the file. All the standard Bravetree tanks are still included, so the Bronze, Silver and Gold tanks can still be used as well if you want them.

(sorry, file temporarily unavailable - see below for details)

If you do use my AIs in a public host, drop me an email letting me know how they work for you.

I've updated the file with a second AI: BravoLightTank. Bravo took second place in the Indy Scrum AI challenge. Due to the shortcomings of bots in general, no AI can challenge a player 1-on-1 in scrum, but Bravo makes an excellent addition to a Team Scrum training ground. And he's a pretty good shot too. ;)

In my PSL training matches, I went solo against 6 gold brained bots, and typically won 18-6 or so. By changing to a mix of Able and Bravo tanks, in 4 games I've won once, tied once, and lost twice.

I do want to state that these bots use the standard LightTank chassis. No modifications there. They don't shoot quicker or do more damage or anything. They're just better than the normal AI. They'll still never beat a good player head-to-head. But they definitely pose more of a challenge. %)

Nah. Not in a 1-on-1 challenge. 6-on-1 they might though. ;)

Interesting and don't get me wrong I have no opinion and this is only an observation
You ran a bot AI development contest.
Gathered all scripters who cared.
Determined the best AI.
But now you lock them in a dso....
Wassup wit dat?

Uh-uh. These are just MY bots. The other developers control their own bots. If they want to hand them out they can. I keep no copies of them. Actually, the main reason they're locked in a DSO is because the contests are still going. Don't want to give away any of my secrets... ;)

TMO you sound like you don't know this: you can see the settings perfectly from dso files. But it's not as readable as cs files.

You don't have to let go of one rope before grabbing the other. But you'll have to let go of one if you want to swing forward.

LOL. You're right. I didn't know that. XD

Hmmm... I took a look at the DSO, and part of the information is readable, but there was a lot that was missing, at least by just using Notepad to read it.

I used UltraEdit's Hex Edit feature and everything is clear.

Drat! Curses, foiled again! :P Now I have to decide if I want to be paranoid and yank the entire file or not...

Friday, October 14, 2005 at 12:20:30 PM

Okay - for now I have pulled the file. But it's only temporary. While the competitions are going on I'll keep it to myself, but when I get a half-dozen AIs or so together I'll go ahead and publish it again, in readable ds format.

Easier decision to make since no one to my knowledge is using them on their server.
