The eye drove me nuts. It looked like one of those old comic book ads: "Amaze your friends with your incredible new HYPNO powers!".

I named the hard drive for my last computer "Mind Control" as a joke because of that creepy thing. I ended up regretting it because if I forgot to include something in a job I'd get a call that "X.file" located on volume "Mind Control" is missing.

"Why did you name your computer mind control?"
...lengthy explanation.
"...oh. I see."

Oh yeah, I really despise those icons. Just change the icon to something like this:

Or this:

Or this:

Or This:

Yeah, the Photoshop eye kinda freaked me out. I'm glad they got rid of it.
But it is not completely gone, however. This is the alternate splash screen from Photoshop CS.

Tally the iconoclast....

Monkee you are looking at those icons at the wrong size. What kills me about the new icons is how poorly they scale down:

Meh.

OM

Ah, I see your problem now 56k. You're viewing the icons on a Windows machine! Ick! No wonder they look so crappy to you. Hehe. :)

Truthfully, although I don't mind the new CS icons, it seems to be an epidemic these days for companies to redesign their app icons. My problem with this in general is that after so many years of looking at the same type of icon, whether you liks it or not, to have an abrupt change throws people off. Take the new Stuffit 9 icons for example. They look so diff from previous versions that at first I couldn't even recognize Stuffit file anymore. Especially for designers, this change can be upsetting. They like to have things just so.

Ya know, I really like those new stuffit icons, but I liked the old ones better. Of course, it was a pain just to make new icons for OSX, which needed to be alot bigger than the old OS 9 icons.

Hmm OM, you may be right.....

Please donate to the "Get Laggy a Mac so he can find out if he likes the new CS icons better in OSX" fund.

The needs are as follows:

15" PowerBook G4: $2,499.00
Mac License of Maya: $1999.00
Mac License of CS suite: $999.99
Mac License of Macromedia Director (Optional): $1199.98
iPod Shuffle (Just for good measure): $99
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Total: $6796.97

Please, don't let laggy be annoyed by the lame CS icons any longer. If we work together we can solve this crisis.

We are currently $3.12 toward our goal.

Oh, can I get a $1,799.00 23" Cinema display too?

Well, sounds like a worth enough cause Laggy. I have a few bucks sitting in my PayPal account that I'll send your way. You can thank me later. :P

In lieu of the almost $6800 set up listed above, would you settle for a crusty ol' Bondi iMac I've got somewhere around here at work? I'll sell it cheap! ;)
