I have just installed Tiger and I have no in-game sound. I can hear the lush tracks playing but I can not hear any tank effects or shooting sounds.
Dual 1.42 ghz Powermac G4
768 DDR SDRAM
Built in sound card
Any Ideas?
Just downloaded the widget!
Very sweet!
Napalm
POKEMALO!!!!!-is that really you? Nice to talk to you again.
Hey is there a Windows XP version too? :o Oh and my server is in that widget picture!!! :)

Is the loss of sound an Open AL issue?
It's a known issue. Azazel I believe was the first to discover this, and worked with the BT guys to find a workaround. Email Az about it, or one of the BraveTree crew to get the instructions.
I reinstalled the AL driver package. Did not work. TGE has also lost sound. :(

This widget will be sweet!! This is what MAX-CR was thinking about awhile ago. I wonder if it allows you to see the players in each game? I doubt that it does, but this will be a great time saver!!
My copy of Tiger is sitting in a box on my front porch while I am visiting relatives in Canada! :(
It'd be cool if someone would do this for windows...DesktopX has the capability, but I dont know of anyone who could put it together...
Sweet! Now I will definitely be getting 10.4- I was hoping for a TT widget.
I'm concerned about the sound issue, though. Is the fix pretty easy? Or is it a pain to do? I'm glad some of you are the early adopters who find the kinks before I buy. I appreciate your willingness to test the waters for people like me who wait a month or so...
Can someone please post this fix? Is it at Bravetree's website? (I'm gonna do some rummaging around) BTW: Tiger is the best $130 I've spent in a while. I love how everything works now, though I liked the old buttons in Mail much better (the new ones on top are now ugly in my opinion). Everything else is working better than ever.
I would also like to know about this fix. I haven't installed it yet, but have Tiger ready and waiting (just need to get back home). I don't know if I want to till I know how to fix the sound before playing.
If this can be posted that would be GREAT!!
Also… does this mean BraveTree will finally release a new version of TT to fix this for newcomers w/ Tiger?? XD
Oh yeah… and one more thing to PC users;
Yes, in late 2009 they are planning a Torque Widget for...umm, whatever the OS is called...
OK, this is what I was able to figure out from the email forwarded to me from Az based on his convo with Clark from BraveTree.
For some reason, Tiger updates the OpenAL framework, and it's apparently incompatible with ThinkTanks. According to Clark, the System version somehow overrides the one inside the ThinkTanks application, even though it shouldn't. His suggestion, based on another users experience, is to rename the framework folder so it's not found by the System, therefore making ThinkTanks use the one it contains instead.
Here's what I did to get my sound back.
Open the Terminal. Type the following commands:
cd /System/Library/Frameworks/
And hit Return. This gets you into the correct location for the 2nd step, which is:
sudo mv OpenAL.framework OpenAL.disabled
Hit Return and enter your admin password to make the change.
Voila! Fire up ThinkTanks and you'll have sound back! I'm not sure of what consequences there might be in renaming this folder, but it can always be renamed back if somehow it breaks something else. So far, everything seems to work fine for me, so I'm not too concerned.
I hope there is an easier fix going forward though, because this will be a PIA if every user who updates to Tiger needs to figure this out. I imagine there are quite a few users unaware of this site. I guess BraveTree if gonna be getting a lot of support emails.
Problem w/ widgetÉÊatleast on my end
When I flip it around to change settings, the "DONE" button doesn't seem to work so I can't get back to the list. I have to close it and reopen it, but then the changes on it don't take.
HaHaHa... Take a look at the Konfabulator docs... :)
Perl and PHP
There is no Perl or PHP support in Konfabulator for Windows. The size of what would need to be included is prohibitive as a standard part of our install, so we recommend those Widgets that demand Perl point users to an appropriate Perl environment for the PC.
HeHeHe... No luck for you Windows users! 'Cause it's a Perl script that gets the master server info!

That's very mean saying that to Windows users. :[
