Everyone loves a good underdog story when the much weaker team somehow manages to find a way to defeat their more talented opponent. I experienced a wonderful example of David vs Golliath last night in person as my six year old son Nicholas and I watched the NBA's worst team, our Atlanta Hawks (14-32) actually defeat the NBA's best team, Detroit Pistions (39-7!) by the score of 99-98!!! Here are the details of the game.

My kid kept saying "The Hawks are gonna beat them Pistons tonight, Dad" and I just smiled and shook my head.
I wanted to be positive and teach him that anything was possible and that you should always try your best even if you know the odds are against you, but I knew that the Pistons were going to beat the Hawks like a drum by at least 20 points.
Still, Atlanta hung around and hung around and finally pulled off the major upset.

Yeah, in sports, any team can beat any other team on any given night and the cream of the crop will always rise to the top, but it's always so much fun witnessing brilliant moments from teams that usually come up short. Excellent lesson learned about never giving up or surrending.
