They're pretty big. Good job SqR.
Hey, would you mind throwing the claws, shell etc back out onto the shore so people like me can find them? :P

Hey Craps - no they are nice fat aussie mud crabs. They live in the mangroves around the shorelines here. Tastier than blue mannas which we get a lot of here - also heaps more meat on them. Drop on round some time and I will take you out and catch some !! XD

Monica - I will do next time - hopefully the ocean currents take them your way !

but real clean I don't know : see the crab on the right : he seems to take his noose w/ his biggest claw not ? XD

Mmmmm.... Tasty

We get lots of yummy Dungeness crab here. Very tasty and easy to find. A friend lives right on the beach and we haul some in, split the crab, and throw them right in the cooker down there. The good part is standing around jawing, drinking beer and consuming mass quantities of crab.

The shells get thrown back to the gulls... And if you walk the beaches around here, you find crab shells all the time.

Boy are you lucky to get them fresh like that. I can't get them except frozen lolol. Yes they are delicious with steamed clams and corn with shalots with mussels also yum yum. B)

Niiice. Dungeness is pretty cool (from the Washington side).

I do some fishing occasionally with bits of squid for bait. The crabs always nip the bait off before I can catch anything. I find the irony of this thread amusing.

Sure turned the tables on those tasty bastards squid!

I usually like to pick about 1/2 a bushel to make some mean lump crab cakes...granted I do eat quite a bit along the way. And a pinch of dill goes real nice with all the other mixins, althouh I cant convince my girlfriend of that.

I say eat em raw with a side of sea weed!!

Wednesday, October 18, 2006 at 6:36:09 PM

Woah, those are huge! There's medicine that they sell over-the-counter that'll get rid of those. I recommend buying the more expensive brand, it comes with a little comb.

Wednesday, October 18, 2006 at 7:49:11 PM

Oh those kind of crabs...

Heh...

The guy who lives down by the beach retired from teaching a couple of years ago, and he made a bargain with the school nurse.

If she'd teach the "human growth and reproduction" part of the health curriculum to his class, he'd give her crabs.

So of course we all spread it around that she got crabs from him...

^ probably would eat the stuff under the carapace, too... ;)

I caught crabs

Man thats rough....

I won't go into detail (for Squids sake) what crabs is..... But fear not! I found a solution!

Treatment

If you have crabs, medication can be applied on the affected areas and then washed off. Clothing, sheets and towels used in the past two weeks should be washed in hot water or dry cleaned.

To stop it happening again, limit your number of clients :P

I've got a fever, and the only prescription, is more cowbell.

Yeah thanks Fo. She was acting a bit jittery this afternoon. I caught her boiling all my underpants in a big pot on the stove..... Muttering something about how filthy I was. It took me a while to work out that she got the wrong idea about the crabs. I thought she was just trying to boil out all my skid marks.

Ok now in the top picture of Squids,, what two veteran think tankers are hidden in the pic?

You can tell the crab on the right is contemplating whether or not to attack the hobbit foot...

"Play it cool crab man, maybe if you play your cards right, he'll let you go. Just sit back and look small."
"No way, he's gonna eat me anyway. Now it's the time to attack!"
"No, no, be patient man..."
"Do I smell chili?"
