Repent,
I loved to play ctf but sadly I could rarely find anyone there. As I only play at lunch at work I guess I wasn't there enough.
Well, if you keep the locked server up, how is the popularity going to increase? Invitation? If you give invitation to someone, someone else wants an invitation too.

It was a good concept. One day it will run on a GG server (or other) I hope, so that you Repent won't have to host it.
I love it. Its just that there are crazy people in the one that isnt locked. Swearing and whatnot. I would love to use the one that is locked. If you are going to keep it open then please give me the pass. Thanks. B)

Hey repent.. I think the reason noone played was because when it said "team survivor" most people thought it was based around arts script and avoided it because of that. I will be really dissapointed if you get rid of it because it was a great game... If you DO decide you don't want to run it please can you opensource the script for all of us to host our own?
Yours grovellingly
Bloop
P.s otherwise, can I get the pass?

The problem IMOHO is not the gametype or anything - it's behavioral. For team games it's aways the same: once there's a critical mass in a game (say 4-5-6) everyone joins in. What's hard is to start...1 player... 2 players... 3 players... I play mostly TeamScrum.. I log-in, there's no TS, so I go to Indie Scrum. After a while when we're a core of TSer, we migrate to TS. Who would join a server all by himself / herself? :o
Let me know if you restart it. I'll keep working in my spare time on an AI - even if you don't restart the server a team playing AI could come in handy.
Edit: humm... Ignore all I said, im talking rubbish, and am confusing mesel'.
Just that I think with the name their was some confusion about the fact that it was NEW gametype.

It took me awhile to realize what you were talking about. I've enjoyed playing there. Is it possible to have more than one map?
Mix it up please if possible.

I have to agree. It does get borring in there by yourself :(
U should rename it to "tt dodgeball". Taking down team sur..... Tt dodgeball is a BAD MOVE

Repent - part of the problem is that I accidentally gave them human brains. %) I'll get that fixed soon.
I don't think it would matter which maps you cycled through, just that it not be only one. And yes, naming it TT dodgeball might draw more people in.
Who would join a server all by himself / herself?
I regularly find myself playing with myself. 8o
I mean by myself. ;)
Oh ya, can you play dodgeball by yourself with only 2 balls?
Repent,
I have played there quite a bit and mostly on my own which is still great fun, please dont take it down its a top game!!!!!!!! Just dont use anymore of Master TMO's bots they keep killing me............. :P
To all the players in TT land GET IN THERE AND PLAY WILL YA................................
Sorry had to get that off my chest
Daz XD
I saw Team Survivor over the weekend and it seemed a little odd at first when I read the title. There's no "I" in team I thought, but I gave it a whirl anyway. I enjoyed it, but playing with bots wasn't a lot of fun, but it was educational. I think if people play it, it will catch on, especially now that its been mentioned in the general forums. I could also see this as a good alternative to TBML by adding a twist to the plot.
@ Repent - Heh, you didn't spell anything incorrectly. I just couldn't grasp the idea of team survivor right off the bat since I viewed Survivor as an individual game, so how can 1 person on a team be the survivor? It was me being a little slow. Guess you could call it a "Bolo moment". XD
Dont use anymore of Master TMO's bots they keep killing me.............
Mission Accomplished!!! XD
In my spare time I'll work on building AIs better suited for TBM. Right now he's using my BM and Scrum AIs, one per team.
@Repent - you might make it so the teams start with 3 bots on each side, and new players automatically replace bots as they join. Right now it's 2 per side, and the first player makes it 3 vs 2, an uneven fight. If it's possible to do that, that is.
@ repent can u check ur ip log cause

@ Repent: I only had one problem, it was that the server map was called 'Team Survivor', and I never found a predownload for a map like that. (not that I did search on the whole internet tho :o) But I ve looked, maybe I looked over it in which case im sorry.
In fact, I do really like your Team Dodge Ball, I love it. I ve played a few games there against Dazzle, Roger, and some others.. And it was fun! Thanks for at least keeping up that server.
BTW was the team survivor not locked :o??? If you decide to bring up more locked servers like that, please email me the password if you decide that I m worth it or not. My email is joren.TT@gmail.com, you can be sure that I won't spread out the password.

PS: you do better know me better as ScreaMing PBx.
Repent
Seems like more people are playing team dodgeball for some reason must be a name thing. I definately prefer TDB to TBM and the games with I played with ^ Roger, Belikin and others the other night were fantastic. Was just a shame I had arranged to go for a beer otherwise would have been in there all night!!
Thanks for keeping the server up and with the map rotation it makes it, in my opnion, a whole lot better XD
More maps please
Daz
Good game last night on tt dodgeball! B)

Thanks for leaving it up, Repent. Lots of fun, but I wish I had more time to play... Need the practice ;)
I have had it up almost 24/7. In the last two days I have only had 15 visitors.
Only a few servers are used frequently which brings up an interesting question. Why there are so many servers as there are no need for them?
...once there's a critical mass in a game (say 4-5-6) everyone joins in. What's hard is to start...1 player... 2 players... 3 players... I play mostly TeamScrum.. I log-in, there's no TS, so I go to Indie Scrum. After a while when we're a core of TSer, we migrate to TS.
People are social creatures and they want to go there where everyone else go.
Who would join a server all by himself / herself?
To play with himself or herself. :)
You don't have to let go of one rope before grabbing the other. But you'll have to let go of one if you want to swing forward.
^^ has words of wisdom!
BTW, I think the game plays much better with 3 bots per team now. It's not as lopsided when you're the only human in the map.

@ repent the bots are coming along great, well doone B)

I'm still running the Evolution Process on them. I started with the 3 basic light bots and my 4 Beelzebots, and now have 45 AIs, up to the 10th generation. I'll probably keep running it until I have about 100-120 of them, then start the Fitness Testing to pick the best 6. Once I get those 6 I'll see if I can't balance it so that two teams of three are basically even across all the different terrains.
It'll probably take another couple of weeks to finish. %) My evolutionary process is thorough, but slow.
It's not quite as much work as it sounds for me. Probably actually less work than it takes for those who build them by hand. The hardest parts were deciding how the evolution algorithm was going to work, and building the Excel spreadsheet to manage it. All I have to do now is start a match running in the morning and leave it all day. Then run the spreadsheet to collect all the scores, measure them, build the children, and set up the next match. Then I leave that match running overnight, and repeat. As is proper, I taught my computer to do all the hard stuff. ;)
But, as noted, it is a slow process.

I loved it! Its just I only saw it up once.
