We could ask Nappy to use his Easy Street for the urban mod
Fits the bill quite nicely
And list the captains in place on the header plz

Wednesday, March 08, 2006 at 3:05:04 PM

Everyone, please wait until Saturday for my map. I'm on vacation now and don't have my computer.

Wednesday, March 08, 2006 at 3:59:19 PM

My map:

Alpine

Predownload:
Alpine.zip

Important: Do NOT extract the files to "game/data/missions". Instead, extract them to "game/data/missions/PLAYER36" (make a folder called "PLAYER36" if you don't have one).

EDIT: I'm also hosting a server with the map if you want to see it.

You think thats wise at this time CB?
just a question?

Saturday, March 11, 2006 at 11:17:57 AM

@ Roo, anything I use will be posted here with instructions what folder to put them in. I've been going through the x pac 4 additions and finding alot of objects load in TGE but not T Tanks. Whatever I use and is good may just go inside cbMaps folder within Shapes. Or ill add original folder also if it loads in Think Tanks.

For anyone in the league you must have x pack 3 installed anyway, and while doing that you might just as well install the latest addition.

For those not able to add the expansion packs. Ill host them all so players can just join the server and let them all load, if its when they go to bed or whenever they have time.

Please send me a copy of all.missions used guys.

Again some maps are not adequate for TBM. The maps need reviewing from vets and we cannot have a majority of maps favor the hiding technique, pompously described as "strategy" by some.

The best option remains the "home map rule". Newly created maps available for picking once approved by vets. Custom modifications an option.

Map makers Im nagging for the urban warfare one, let me know status

Friday, March 17, 2006 at 5:14:54 PM

Lep, someone mentioned something about my east street map for that one. Go check out myserver and let me know if you like it.

There are 4 versions of it, Lava, night. Fog and standard.

Ok Nap,

I tried it out , it is ok for a nice scrum game ,,, but what I am looking for is a setting of a bombed out/burned out city with crumblimg walls, poor visibility - line of site wise and with tons of streets and buildings.. Something like the town in the movie saving PVT Ryan a true ww2 tank enviroment.... See what you guys can do.. I know it is a tall order

Also let me know if any of your old team is returning things start moving forward soon

Saturday, March 18, 2006 at 9:28:04 AM

Since the ex-new league commissioner seems autistic to the issue of playability and acceptability of maps, raised by me and other players, the Euro Team is withdrawing from the competition.
Have fun!

@stan,

Sorry , I have been trying to develop new maps and themes for this season, you dont even understand the amount of work and development this is taking, plus the people stepping up to the plate do this, the effort invovled is tremendous and it isnt finalized yet.Things still have to be tweaked and adjusted. The maps selected to date are based on themes and still have a few adjustments left,,,, but if you want to walk cause I havent bent to your wishes alone, let me know, not a problem...
Also some of us think there is more to tbml than being on a flat empty field just blasting away at each other. Hiding, cramped quarters, difficulties , advantages and disadvantages are all part of the game play.
Home maps this season are to be changed , last season it favoured teams too much.. It is a better experience when both teams have no distinct "home map advantages", thus 1 new map per week scheduled, with playoff maps to be selected by captains when at that point in the season.
Study some of the classic tank engagements and get back to me on the "perfect conditions" they had.. The whole idea of this season is to have a change in themes, strategies and gameplay... Trying to keep it fresh and interesting

I dont need a lesson from you on the intricacies of this game. Dont turn the tables on me - It's not my wishes we're fulfilling here, it's YOURS alone.Yes rough terrain can be challenging if both parties play their part in trying to get the right angle, unfortunately lots of players play overly defensive and use the terrain to just hide. Now, we can handle some of that, but custom making maps according to YOUR taste and overcrowding them with objects, as you have done it, is just wrong. And you're right it's not my idea of fun to play on a beautiful but laggy map where you can barely move or see anything.

Now, the most important point. That "PLAYABILITY" concern was raised be several players in an itelligible way adding the suggestion that maps be approved by vets. You didn't even bother to respond. Worse you're asking to fill a new map with "tons of buildings". Something's wrong there. Have it your way and good luck, we'll pass on this one.

@stan,

This isnt to my taste but the collective effort of the map makers
and btw final approval will begin just before team play occurs by a joint effort of more than myself, sorry if I am just trying to make it interesting and fun for most, at least I am trying to get this show going than sitting on the sidelines complaining.

I knew it would be better with popcorn...now if I had just remembered the beer...

Saturday, March 18, 2006 at 5:42:55 PM

I'll stay neutral in your argument, both of you have some good points.I know the maps have already been made, but it would still be a good idea to test them for lag and playability. Who can host all the maps? And who would be willing to test? *Raises hand*

Saturday, March 18, 2006 at 5:47:12 PM

@Jeff,

Lager,Stout, or Ale?

Grin

Some things never change do they Jeff?

Saturday, March 18, 2006 at 6:36:03 PM

Agree, some things never change. Thought you would have learned something when ppl were fed up with the way you run things....not.

Saturday, March 18, 2006 at 8:06:50 PM

Lets slow down folks. Couple of things:

1. I think everyone would like Team Euro to stay.

2. The maps will be tested on an open server for vets and others to take a look. Comments here will be welcome. Decisions can be made after this occurs.

3. We can all put our 2 cents in here as to playability and fun. Overall consensus should suffice.

4. Compromises are always an option if there is still some problems.

5. Maps that dont make the cut do to lag, playability, etc will be eliminated.

Maps Ive seen:

Black Forest - many trees, very cool, could be a lag issue, playability is fun... But holding out to test for a full server.

Afghan Flats - pretty fun, very flat with some cover, and maybe a tad too large... IMHO. Seems like it would favor the heavy if smaller.

Battle of the Bulge - there are two versions, not sure which one I played, very tight map, good playability, seems ok as is. Will be eager to see others comments.

Saturday, March 18, 2006 at 9:49:55 PM

@supra
Oh the map committee tweaked my mission eh?
The original of Battle of the Bulge is playing on Roos ScruMODz this month
There it's called Ardennes Arena
Ya! Lets get a server up to review the choices!!!
I am curious to see the changes

Would really like this to move along
In small frustrated voice ----"am losing my window of opportunity to play"

Sunday, March 19, 2006 at 2:41:55 AM

Roo - no changes to yours...

I think people made 2 maps called Battle of the Bulge...neither of which has been tampered with...i may be wrong here.

Map makers please send proper files so that they can be tested and played on...

Who can serve them up?

My thoughts on the maps I've played on:

Black Forest: Fun, good playability, but all the trees cause some lag, at least for me.

Afghan Flats: Very difficult for a heavy, being so big and flat. People like Stan would love it though.

Battle Bridge: Fun, the terrain on either side of the map is good. But I have a feeling that nobody will want to cross the bridges. Also, all the stuff in the background might cause lag.

Shipwrecked: Cool map, I have a lot of fun on it. But the spawns aren't very well distributed. I don't mind the hills but I think a few pepole would want them shorter.

Stonewalled: Seems like more of a srum map, but could be great for TBM. Good playability, one of my favorite maps.

Savana: Like Afghan flats, a tough one for heavies. Flat and huge. I think the lights would have a blast on it though.
NOTE: I'm talking about the savana map by Monica. If the one were using is by someone else, then I have no idea what I'm talking about :P.

EDIT: Just saw the 2nd edition of shipwrecked, very nice CB! I especially like the flamingos.

Ok ,

Moving forward , maps are not the biggest issue , most are acceptable or will require small tweaks, biggest concern is draft, staffing and schedule move along people, I need final responses this weeek from all possible new players, new and old teams and new and old capts.
