Hi all,

The slow load times here on PTT???? I don't know if it is a coincidence or not, but it seems like ever since the latest update to the site (pages, stats, etc), the site pages now take an incredibly long time to load. Hitting the refresh button is about a 45 second wait to see the page refresh. This is true at any time of day (I should know) and the slow load only seems to be a problem with PTT.

Anyone else notice this site has slowed greatly?

I am working on it. It's not so much the changes that have been made, moreover the sheer volume of data that exists.

You've probably had too much coffee. Try drinking de-caf. It doesnt taste that bad after you get used to it.

Yeah TG, I've noticed it too, so you're not crazy. And it does appear to have happened since the updates, although as -z- is stating, that's probably not the primary reason. Regardless, it seems to have coincided with the update to the site. Just sit tight, and -z- will get around to getting it fixed I guess.

I geuss all you guys do is go straight to the forums (so do I but...) XD. Click around everything els comes up quick. I think it's all the spam :S.

Doesnt help that PTT is currently being mail bombed by virii. I have downloaded over 5000 virus emails today alone.

I suggest everyone use the white paypal link to the left of here and donate a bit to -z- so he can beef up his server/set-up. Most of us use this thing on a near daily basis and 'suggest' -z- should do this, -z- should do that. Well let's help him do it.

Killer lag on PTT site and servers. -z- knows what the problem is and is working on it. Tx -z-!!

Spamming and useless threads should be culled. -z- maybe you might need to get rid of useless threads, and keep the "more" interesting material for everyone to read.

Grr.. Another 5000 virused emails today as well. Just a pain in the proverbial as it takes about an hour and a half to download and virus scan them. (at approx 1sec/email)

Do you have a bot blocking script everywhere your email is listed here? Given your programming talents I would think so, but doesn't hurt to ask. If not I can get you the help needed to prevent that.... Corey (FU).

LilAlien, actually, none of the virus emails have been sent to z @. They are all the other addresses used for paypal and various other things.

Cheers also to those who think its fun to create an account and post loads of abusive threads and comments that have to then be cleaned up (as many will have noticed from ((UF)TTAANNKKOO()()()()() recently).

I have been doing a lot of work on the existing pages and database and will need to take PTT offline for several hours (maybe even the whole day) in a few days time to fully update everything. Will post more about this (and when etc) nearer the time.

-z-, can't you simply block the addresses that these viruses are coming from? Or are they those damned near-random addresses?

Anyone can block by IP but there are various ways to change your IP

Yeah things are getting a bit slow. I'm a very impatient person when it comes to my internet though :) I REFUSE to get online for anything at my g/f's house (dial up). So yeah, the usual 10-15 seconds for the "general" section to load is just aboslute hell for me. I suggest deleting ALOT of em.
