I came across this free version of something you may like. Like 44's Stand on your roof and wave thread , I have also found something similiar. Its called google earth, Free download. Click on the link

It will have the elevation and Exactly where you are. Its great

Oh darn... Should have posted about that thing two days ago. I thought I'll post it later, but now I see I am already too late. This is a must have download was only ~10mb and ~20mb as installed.

Usually everything comes first to Windows and later to different os's. That's one very good reason to own Win. :)

EDIT: you should have made better title for great program like this...

You don't have to let go of one rope before grabbing the other. But you'll have to let go of one if you want to swing forward.

Try this link http://maps.google.com/ and hit satillite. I found my house, and the vacation house on outer banks, N.C.

No download needed. Just type in the Goolgle search box (after you open this link ) your state and town. Or your city, area whatever and hit satillite. Then zoom in.
