Yep, doesn't look like he'll last more than another day or two, given his condition (cardiovascular collapse). He could surprise everyone and pull out of it, but I seriously doubt it.

So, who's next in line for pontiff I wonder? Not that I really care, but whoever holds that position has such influence over the Catholic masses, it's relevant to everyone in a sense.

I can see another religious flamewar starting on the horizon of this thread...

Perhaps some of our Catholic buds can share a little about how they feel about the Pope and the process of electing a new one. What do they hope for in a new Pope?

As a Protestant, I'd like to know a little more about the gang we left. ;)

Doesnt it go somewhat like this...? The next Pope will be elected when the old one have died. The electing goes something like this... You must be a churchman; all of them are old farts. These churchmans whose want to become next Pope will be all put inside one big church. Inside the church will not be anybody else expect them. They won't have any new age electronic connections: no mobile phones, no Internet, etc... All they have are the normal church stuff. Inside the church the church mans vote each others who they want to make next Pope, these process may take long. How do normal people get the information when the new Pope is chosen? From the church smoke pipe will come black smoke when it's not yet chosen. When they have chosen the new Pope, from the smoke pipe will come white smoke. Then the citizens know to come to wait to the entrance of the church when the new Pope steps out.

You don't have to let go of one rope before grabbing the other. But you'll have to let go of one if you want to swing forward.

This has gotten too disrespectful.
