I think half the people on PTT (including me) dont you correct spelling becuase they just wanna get strait to the point instead of using correct puncuation and making everything look cute.
but if you cant handle the "poor spelling" then maybe you should zoom on out.

I have to agree with Legendary...it is pretty bad. It doesn't take any longer to type 'You Are' than it does to type U R. Pretty soon it will degenerate into a form of Pidgin which we will call BLOGSPEAK. Ug.

My rules are quite simple - if you can't write a single simple sentence in this forum without fewer than 3 errors in it, then you have nothing to say I am interested in.

I have no problems with shortcuts during a game - you're trying to play a game and stay alive, not chat. But there's nobody here trying to shoot you - you can take your time typing and Get It Right.

I have no problem with spelling unless it is a word that I dont know and I dont mess up on spelling types unless I am in TT and half of my attention is on enemy and now typing, I type 116 words per minute with 100% accuracy, best typer in my school. XD

Vicious...you type good, but you could use a few more commas. Take a breath man.

Please note that being able to type fast does NOT equate with being able to type well.

@Vicious - as DD said, PUNCTUATION. You've got 3 or 4 complete sentences all jammed together into one monster that's hard to read.

Try being a programmer and writing code that fast and just skipping punctuation or words you don't like and see how long you spend debugging that piece of crap. It doesn't matter how fast you wrote it if it doesn't work.

PS - I'm not picking on you, but you happen to be a convenient example. Congrats on the typing speed - I can only reach about 65 wpm or so.

I a fast typer but not a good speller and if its readable I keep it because I usally dont have time to waste like at school computers

In my opinion, the problem isn't the average use of chat-abbreviations in posts.

The problem is two-fold; first is the poor spelling (not chat abbreviations), the second problem is a lack of proper punctuation. The punctuation issue is more of a problem than the chat-abbreviations. A run-on sentence, or a sentence that does not indicate the intended ebb and flow to the reader, makes for a painful reading experience.

Bolo uses chat-abbreviations (as do many of us), but he also forms the sentences in a way that helps the reader to understand his message. If Bolo wrote the above post like we see so often from other posters here, it would read like this:

Yes, you CAN figure out what the message is, but it makes the readers work too hard to get the meaning, and there is often an unintended twist in the meaning of the sentence from the readers perspective.

So, to those who argue that they don't want to take the extra time to properly pen their message, your selfishness causes every person who tries to read your drivel to take more of THEIR time. It really does become a selfish stance to say that you don't want to take an extra second here or there so you make 50 other people take an extra 10 seconds to understand what you are talking about.

Bottom line, there is no good argument for being illiterate.

Very interesting.
It seems to me that the way people spell seems to matter here.
What I find funny is that I always seem to place my letters in the wrong places.
I.E. I type "Palyed" when I mean Played. Etc.
I can spell well but, I misplace my letters alot.

In conclusion,
