I originally posted these links on the PSLX thread but maybe others would be interested as well. These are XBox 360 titles. Coming from the boring world of Mac gaming the 360 has really been a blast. Online play has exceeded my expectations & gaming in HD really has to be seen.

Here's some clips.

PsychoRacingLeague anyone? This game rocks:

PGR3

Battlemode supreme. This just released:

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter

OMG coming in May, this looks amazing:
Chrome Hounds

Garage Games first 360 ( more to come? TT2? ) XBL arcade release gets a stellar review. Mark/56k, Joe, Clark and Mike worked on this one:

Marble Blast Ultra

The original Xbox Live was nice, (I played PGR2 a lot) but there were too many (mainly british in PGR2) cussers.

I will NOT be paying $400 for a system anytime soon.

Lol yeah Racer the PGR British contingent is still there. Arses!

John check Circuit City's website they had systems available today. The 360 Live Arcade is separate from the original XBox version and TT hasn't been ported to it.

RX, I emailed you some links.

@Az
I have thought about that too. I think that having everyone on a similiar set-up would at least allow people to be on equal footing. This way servers shouldn't/wouldn't be bogged down by someone with a weak computer or someone running to many apps at the same time. Personally, I don't think the lag problems lie with the high pingers (cept maybe 56k) but with the users that have bad system/running to many apps that sap the servers. As an example think of get some before he got his mini (get some (mini)). Heck, I have played on VICS dedicated iBook and had a few good games and that normally pings in the 150 for me. Plus, I do not think that TT is an internet resource hog, but more of a cpu/graphics card hog.

I thought about getting an xbox but paying the $9.99 a month for the online stuff just for TT is a little much. Not to mention that the 360 would be over $300 plus the monthly online and TT isn't ported to that yet. Even though it looks NICE! Chrome hounds looks a lot like Lore.

I have always wanted to do an expirement and get all the "laggers" and try a different game made by Torque and see if its in the game. I have played other games made by Torque (lore and legends) with over 10 layers and couldn't feel or see any lag. Could just be I am not used to the game feel though.

Actually you can get a yearly subscriptions for xbox live for 50$ prepaid you could get them in game stop or game crazy. Its cheap

Nuts I never considered the possibility of TT being a CPU hog but I know there have recently been some posts that point to that. My only experience, which has been fine for the most part, is on my machine which is a dual processor Mac. I'm not that comp literate but maybe the Mac OS being optimized for two processor machines keeps things in check. I think Dash makes sense about all the other variables that come into play. I'd be up for seeing a Torque tryout happen. Good idea.

The 360 online experience has been great so far. I'm playing PGR3 which does a fine job of simulating speeds over 200mph and has phenomenal graphics. Rarely have I encounter lag or seen it in others. I'm playing on servers all over the US and with Europeans as well. That was really an eye opener for me coming from TT.

It is a bit of an extra expense but in terms of bang for the buck I'm real happy with it. What John said about the online expense is correct.
It's $8mo/$50 year plus first month free now.

@ Az
I think that TT can be a resource hog to some degree. I use 2 computer systems, one is an AMD 64 Opt(1.8Ghz overclocked to 2.05Ghz) with a weak Nvidia (64 bit agp) graphics card., other a dual intel extreme chips and a good graphics (nvidia 256 pci) card. I have run both on the same distro of linux, kubuntu. The playing difference between the two is huge. I know there are other variables as well, like the small machine only 512k compared to 1gb in memory. Small has has a 200 GB ata hard drive, large is a 180 Sata hardrive. I think my small is very comparable to a lot of other average machines, I think it does a great job playing TT (well besides the video, gives me a headache). I have played in games on one machine and then jumped on the other and the resources used on the small machine were much more. I saw spikes up too 100% cpu usage. On the big machine the biggest spike I saw was 70%.

I'm just a cheap arse $50 bucks for something that I get free is to much. Plus, even before I would consider getting an xbox360 I would have to have TT ported to it. I don't think the wife would be to happy with me after buying the kids a gamecube so they could play star wars and the incredibles so they would get the heck off of my computers.

Ha! I guess that could then lead to 'how to get the kids off the XBox360' scenario.

Went to Circuit City today to check 'em out. Wow. :o
