Here is a task for grabs. Prefferably for the master of MOD's Ishbuu. I want to have a giant CAVE. You could drive around on the floors, walls, and cieling like a "fly." It could perhaps be made in the side of a wall?! Anyways, it would just be a cavernous cave and the camera would not twirl violently in it like it normally does in a steep situation. You would need to include a stony terrain that I have made (EXCELENT QUALITY) and greyish fog at the verry bottom, (below cave enterence.) Can anyone do this?

Hmm...

I'm not sure that thats possible, Filbert.

But it might be, because Marrick knows how to put a ceiling on an area so... ;)

Thats just stretching a rock.... But the trick is to try and figure out a way for the rocks to have terrain-like characteristics(code)

Nope, can't drive on TSStatics.

Can't put a terrainblock upsidedown either.

I would have to say this is impossible.

Actually the only way it would be possible is if we had new terrain and interior support then I would have it there in like 3 seconds believe me.

If we had new terrain and interior support

You need to read between the lines Fil. What he is saying is that it is IMPOSSIBLE ;)

When BT comes out with the next version, we will see what can be done.

And who is saying that he CAN'T do that? I bet he could write some new TER files and have it up in a "jiffy."

Ishbuu, what CAN you do as far as cavelike things, let me know. Can you make a tunnel?

TER files are client side only, and you cannot add them because the master server won't accept them.

Interior Instances are not DTS files, and support for interior files has been stripped out of thinktanks.

You can add a new terrain block, but you cannot make it upside down, to make a cave. The best you can do is stretch out a rock and place it over the level. That will produce makeshift caves.

And like I said before, the Torque Game Engine, (the game engine used to make this game) doesn't really accept caves either, although it is possible, it has been stripped out of Thinktanks.

Here is the overview:

New TER files: Client side only, not accepted by master server. (CANNOT BE DONE)

Upside Down Terrain Block: Torque doesn't really like that, and any last hope has been taken out of TT. (CANNOT BE DONE)

So Filbert, in the game's current version, this CANNOT BE DONE.

Also, believe it or not, console games are very similar to PC games, and somewhat similar to Torque-Made Games. Any cave you see in a console game is actually a valley with a perfectly modelled and textured object sitting on top.

So you can have them for "personal" use then right? Like solo, or quickplay....heh

No, I don't want to explain how torque works right now, but try, and you will get the error "blah blah The terrain file you are using does not match the one running on the server"

Change the rotation size.....

Lol @ roach, dont you mean the scale?

No, you change the rotation #s.... Example... Rotation = "0 0 2 800";

On the greenrock02 will give you a good sized rock, about 2 heavy tanks tall or so.....just as wide as the heavy as well

Wednesday, March 10, 2004 at 7:51:55 PM

Hmmmm, I just always changed the scale...........

Wednesday, March 10, 2004 at 9:20:13 PM

That won't do anything, objects in TT don't have scale support.

Any big gaming project people do will give the trees 20 or so settings for scale. (I'm not getting into how, or why, or what, they just do :) )

Some of the models I have done have had over 200....... Darn redwoods. ;)

Oh well, it works for me anyway. :)

Thursday, March 11, 2004 at 12:09:41 AM

I would love to, but now I cant get it to work, but I know that was what I used to use, oh well maybe I did use rotation, but I could have sworn it was scale.

Monday, March 15, 2004 at 4:46:56 PM

In theory, scale makes it bigger, if they add that support.
