Those are nice! I don't think I'll ever be able to skin that well! (Maybe I can try to make a sprite sheet with some of these custom made tanks, of course with the makers permission... Maybe when I get more skilled with making sprite sheets...)

Good! Maybe you can make a ufo version of it! And with the sprite sheets, rpg time! %)
I was thinking more on the lines of a PowerPoint...
@MadMark - I created a camo pattern based on some of the real life planes I looked at on a Photoshop layer above the original skin of the tank. Then I set the lighting effect of the camo layer to "hard light", which allowed the underlying tank skin to show through in a way that made them seem blended together.
No reason to reinvent the wheel. ;)
I have to add that this skin looks pretty cool during gameplay, especially when someone goes airborne.

This one's been on my mind for a few days.
I used a lot of elements from the Flying Tiger which used the Curtiss P-40E "Warhawk" airplane. I referenced a bunch of photos to get an idea of what to place on the skin. Some of the items aren't in the exact same location, but I think the feeling is there. The reason the inside of the barrell casing is red is to reflect the red nose cone of the plane. The "ying yang" symbol was on the tires in some photos I saw. The "68" is from an actual plane. The bottom of the tank is bright so that when it's flying overhead it will be better camouflaged against the sky while the top is dark to blend in with the ground.
A quick Google search will give you the details.
