Forums Index >> General >> Is there a place for BMing in TS???....Discussion
Page : <1> :
Absolutely.
If they don't wear the same color as you,..kill em. Any place, any time you can... TS and indie are very different games. I'm just starting to appreciate the differences.
I found these definitions today while working here on PTT ! Thought they might be of some help ! B)
Quote from Max,
I think we need to be more specific about our definitions.
Camping = Siting in or very near the goal in Indie Scrum with the intent to steal the scrum at the last moment.
Lurking = getting in-between the scrum bearer and the goal in Indie Scrum with the intent to ambush the scrum bearer either by shooting or bump.
Goal-guarding/Safety = Both of the above but in Team Scrum.
Misconceptions: Spawning on the other-side of the map in-between the scrum bearer and the goal or in the goal itself.
Battle-moding = What some players do especially Demos, they will drive around the Indie Scrum map shooting players in the rear, usually to death.
Pop Shots = What some players consider softening up or weakening opponents in Indie Scrum.
Battle-scrumming = Shooting at all opponents all the time regardless of there position to the scrum in Team Scrum.
Misconceptions: Shooting at the tank closest to the scrum and finishing off a heavily smoking tank.
Diving = Diving off the edge with the scrum with intent of disrupting the game.
Spawn Diving = Diving off the edge with or without the scrum with the hopes to get a better position
New Tank Dive = Diving off the edge to get a new tank.
Misconceptions: Slipping, launching, lagging, or getting bumped off the edge.
Dirty Play = Doing any of these things!!
Cheating =
To violate rules deliberately, as in a game:

Don't even get me started with this UF does it crap. TS is TS there are no rules ! Ask any one who plays in PSL they will tell you its not stop shooting from the word go until the last second ticks off the clock ! When are you guys going to learn the difference from Indie to TS ? XO
Absoloutley. Shoot shoot shoot. I personally get annoyed when a clip is layed into me and me an an opponent just spawned on the other side of the map.
It's like a wasted trip, becasue you know bt the time you get intot he play you'll be spawning again. A full night of this can get frustrating.
I would like to see the people contribute to the game rather than just come in and shoot for the sake of shooting. Passing, blocking, and making a nice run are all parts of the game to be explored by all.
It appears that this (Bm'ing) is more common as more people have crossed over into both types of play, and people are just better shooters than they were.
Remember this is a game of tanks with guns. I don't necessarily subscribe to the Indy mentality, but adhear to the the unwritten rules. You should be able to shoot at any time if your "in the game." I don't understand why people go out of their way to finish off someone who's not in the play.
It's just part of the game I suppose. You just habe to roll-with-it.

It shouldn't be done, and isn't a good idea to do, if they're far away from the goal, cuz, chances are, they'll spawn closer to the goal with full hlth, therfore being more of a threat then they were before BMing them, but other than that, it's fine in TS
I use multi-billion dollar military satellites to find tupperware hidden in the woods... What do YOU do?
@Lonewolf,
Does that quote's definition of "Diry Play" mean that "all" the things, including "BMing" are dirty tactics? And when I say BMing, I mean "strategic", not "triggerhappy", and I'm always refering to TS of course.
@ KC
Sorry it took so long. Life is starting to get a little crazy for me at work. No thats only in Indie Scrum. By the way those are not my definitions but I do believe in must of them for Indie Scrum !
TS is a blood bath from the word go ! You should check out Dash's or Reagent X's server at night to see what I am talking about. Thats where most of us TS Vets play. B)
Of course there is a place.
I have argued with some pure scrummers on this before. The game had evolved; their are more "crossover" players that shoot well, and more tactics used that seem to be finding their place (like running out the clock in a game). The game of scrum is ever evolving.
I think the thing that some scrummers detest is the B'ming for no reason. The constant chasing and firing at you when you dont have the scrum, or just killing you as you traverse accross the map to join your team. Most unload a clip into a player to get them smoking, but repeatedly KILLING tanks far from the scrum gets under some people's skin.
However, a contrast is in need of noting. While I respect the players position who are ardently against Bming in any form (I personally dont agree with their arguments), I do think a certain amount of respect of others is needed. In Team Battle Mode, it is really considered poor sportsmanship by most to team kill your own team to prevent a kill. With the new servers and Dash's modifications, that isnt as major of an issue as it was, but if you come into a TBM game and begin team killing as a tactic, *MOST* would not like it and object to it as a tactic. In scrum, this is widely accepted and encouraged.
The same is true for Scrum and B'ming. When I am playing scrum, I work hard to find a balance. Show respect for the game and the players who always play that game style. Shoot... Shoot... Shoot... But when multiple players complain - maybe you've gone too far and need to reorient your game play tactics to adjust to the ebb and flow of the players playing.. I have found this encourages the most competitive games, challenges you to develop other skills besides shooting (blocking, passing, running), and respects players who play the game the most. My 2 cents...

If you don't bring the guns your team is done!
However, becoming an educated, well-practiced, and deceptive driver can result in far fewer rounds findng their way to your backside. You must learn how to use the landscape (trees, rocks, hills, bolo) to minimize your exposure. Now, snatch the pebble from my tank, grasshopper...
^ so funny :)
The dayz of long runs are over....sure u can use arrows to zip around but thats about it.
Fight fire with fire!!! Shoot, block, pass....thats what gets it done in TS...
Good shooters waste good drivers on most maps...good drivers who pass well waste good shooters....good shooters who pass well and block are.....well.....the CHAMPS :)
BTW my guns never stop shooting....NEVER (unless I run outta ammo)
Also tally ho loves to be shot. Otherwise he feels left out

So far, I really like the discussion!! :) You all have really contributed w/alot of interesting points! B) I have come to realize that there are as many opinions on this sore...ehem...topic :P , than there are sands of the sea.
I feel I'm getting a very well rounded picture of the game and what maybe "fair play". In other words, it really depends on the "crowd" your playing with. Preference, preference, preference. I like Supra's point though:
Maybe you've gone too far and need to reorient your game play tactics to adjust to the ebb and flow of the players playing.
Yep, I really like that one. I think that really sums it all up! ;)
