....do you know that you're a racist? Or is it kind of like the severely mentally disabled who are just happy all of the time and pretty much unaware of their challenges?

Monday, February 06, 2006 at 2:38:26 PM

@ 44

Most of the ones I have run into know exactly what they are and try to disguise it when confronted....either by blatantly lying or by trying to justify it in some sort of f&^%ed up way.

Monday, February 06, 2006 at 3:28:17 PM

Or by trying to justify it in some sort of f&^%ed up way.

I get the same answer from everyone who opposes blacks

"They deserve to be slaves"

"They cause all the crime"

One time I even got a response that stated "When they are in a fight their like monkies fighting over a god damn banana"

Excellent responses, guys! Apparantly we didn't know you had a legitimate reason for being an ass hole!

Monday, February 06, 2006 at 3:40:19 PM

I have neighbors that are racist. They flat out say they hate blacks. My one neighbor said he used to throw watermelons onto the front porches of blacks living in his neighborhood growing up. Just when you thought racism was dead, you got it wrong. It abounds here in Kentucky. :o

Wednesday, February 08, 2006 at 10:00:20 AM

Not Kentucky!

Ever notice that a lot of racists have one thing in common? Most have never left the county in which they live.

Their public remarks are a pathetic attempt to rally the troops so they feel some semblance of belonging. It's insecurity to the highest of degrees.

I think we should make them a clubhouse next to KKB's neighbors home.

Like a midget at a urinal, I was going to have to be on my toes.

Invite a retard to a picnic and you'd better expect to get drool in the potato salad.

I'm not racist! I'm just misanthropic 8(

Wednesday, February 08, 2006 at 10:11:25 AM

Do you know that you're a racist?

No,

But that sounds like some yankee
bullarky aimed to mess with my
head.

I hate all race just in case I might
miss one.

Lmao

Peace

Great point fofo. I think most racists don't consider themselves racist. They think they are right for thinking and feeling the way they do and believe they are more enlightened than anyone who disagrees with their warped way of thinking.
It's similar to the contestants on American Idol... Many of them have absolutely no talent whatsoever but in their own twisted little minds they believe they have talent. It's sad and pathetic but that's the way it is sometimes.

It makes me think of a joke some comedian once said about racism, "Yeah, my old man never believed he was a bigot. He always said things like....I want to rid the world of all racism and all chinks"! I.e. Archie Bunker.

Wednesday, February 08, 2006 at 10:17:31 AM

I'm not a racist: I know I'm not because I know people who are (much bigger racists than I am). Therefore, I must not be a racist (as my expression of my racism is confined to xenophobic commentary.... And not obvious expressions like burinng a cross in black folks yards) like some people I know.

So, in closing, let me just say: I am not a racist (but I do fear and resent people of color, and most "foreigners." even the white ones...especially the french)

I resent folks from the Malawi tribe. They are some of the most inconsiderate people on earth. I mean what the hell? You come over to watch the game and immediately expect dinner. Be a little discreet at least. Leave the dinner plate at home and put a beer where that gaping whole in your lip is. And while I'm on a rant, buy your own beer. That's all I ask.

My question has been answered, BTW.

Wednesday, February 08, 2006 at 11:29:07 AM

I think Stink stunk on his answer, (much bigger racist than I). Which means you ARE at least marginally racist. %)

Wednesday, February 08, 2006 at 11:43:34 AM

I'm a speciesist.

Pray to GOD for him to reveal himself to you.

Wednesday, February 08, 2006 at 11:47:18 AM

I'm French. America hates me. :[

I hate all hugos. Im an individualist.

Ever notice how ALL individualists are self-righteous...I hate that.

Wednesday, February 08, 2006 at 12:21:24 PM

What was wrong with my response KKB? Obviously, I'm not a racist because I don't burn crosses or place watermelons on black folks porches. My racism is more subtle, confined to racist statements and generalizations about entire races of people. And I don't even know I'm a racist...which is ironic. And I don't even understand the irony of my statements in the context of this rather ironic thread...i am not a racist!

And it is a thing of beauty!

My absolute obliviousness buoys me onward! I can't even understand my own contradictions! And yet, I shout them out at the top of my lungs!

Tell me that isn't just awesome...

Wednesday, February 08, 2006 at 2:07:13 PM

Well I think the majority of you are racists. But I'm dealing with a systemic definition. Oh snap, I went there, and we aint' comin' back.

Oh wait, that's right, we have casinos!! Never mind the fact that most of the money made on these casinos goes to outside investors. Oh snap, I did it again.

Oh yes, we have scholarships too!! I forgot. But then again only about 1-6 native americans actually makes it through college because most colleges are off the reservation and students have difficulty succeeding because they are away from their primary value, their family.

I guess there is always government cheese. Mmmm, gov't cheese.

Wednesday, February 08, 2006 at 3:05:54 PM

By the systemic definition, most of us are. Even ol kkb there.

Wednesday, February 08, 2006 at 3:20:32 PM

Im mulatto and I was playing with a racist yesterday. Its kinda funny how this topic came up the next day.

Wednesday, February 08, 2006 at 4:00:39 PM

I like to keep my racism simple: if you're not me, I hate you. X/

Wednesday, February 08, 2006 at 4:44:57 PM

What does everyone have against us chickens anyway
man! We always get invited to dinner only to find out.......

Wednesday, February 08, 2006 at 4:47:57 PM

Final point here. Racism sucks, and it is not dead. Read my above posts about a few people in my neighborhood who used to and still say some crap. I have no use for that. God is colorblind by skin and by mentality.

Stink, I was just kidding, in your first post you made a mistake, " I am not as racist as others". I definately dont think that about you. You might have issues with some Christians on a lot of your posts. I have issues with a lot of "so called" Christians myself. You bring a lot of energy and thought to these forums and make us all think. Lastly, you do Stink!! XD

Think Tankers suck.

Wednesday, February 08, 2006 at 8:03:09 PM

To all the people who thought the world is perfect...
RACISM NEVER LEFT!!!!!
Its only been about 30-40 years since racism "left".
People didn't just decide that racism isn't popular and started giving African Americans (and africans in general) their rights.

(quota's were not used to quote any of you)

Wednesday, February 08, 2006 at 8:25:27 PM

First off... Racism sux. It is stupid and no-one of any intelligence can effectively argue that it has merit. I have been in many debates with racists (I grew up in Nevada) and still have friends (that are good people) that are racist at their core. When a racist argues their point, they are immediately in contradiction of their own perspective... It is easy to argue against racism, but tough to convert a racist because their beliefs can be as resolute as people with faith who believe in God.

The interesting thing is, we are all "racist" by design. Nature has planted the seed in all of us and there is nothing we can do about it. Most of us will always gravitate toward a like minded group... It is the nature of the species.

Let's put you in a lab experiment.

You are in a room with three doors in front of you...

The doors open and you have ten seconds to decide which room to enter. You are told that all doors will close and anything can happen once you are inside. You don't know how long you will be there.

Behind door number one is a group of Think Tankers.
Behind door number two is a group of Iraqis,
Behind door number three is a group of inner city black youths.

Which room do you gravitate toward? My guess is that the majority of you would gravitate to whatever group you most associate yourself with...
Some of you might say that you would consider it an opportunity to get to know someone who is different than you, but that is your societal influence at work on you, nature would drive you to the group that is most like you.
-------------------------------------------------------------

Obviously I know this is an extreme example, but the bottom line is, it is human nature to be part of a group, and the group usually consists of like-minded people with similar life experiences.
ARC Triangle.
Affinity
Reality
Communication

You can't have Affinity for someone unless you can share Realities with them, you can't share Realities with them unless you can Communicate with them.

As I said at the top of this post. Racism is lame. Considering someone to be inferior because of their race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, hair color, freckles or otherwise is just plain stupid, but being drawn to a group or community because they have similar ideals and experiences is just the way the world works.

@Ghost
Interest point. I agree that all human beings are racist instinctually, meaning we are all going to side with members of the human RACE over any other species first and foremost... But then it breaks down into our own local "group" of people that are most like us. For example, American citizens are PROUD to be an American just as Canadians are proud of being cannucks and so on and so forth. It doesn't stop there... We are then proud to be from certain regions of our country, so southerners are proud to be from the south, northerners and westerners and so on and so forth. The same applies in every country in the world. Even in Italy, there is massive snobbery from Italians who live up north when it comes to the Italians who live in the south (they all mock Sicilians). Ok, it still doesn't end there. We then are proud of being from our own states and then cities and towns...then neighborhoods and communities. Still, it does not end there. We feel closest to those in our own inner circle, our friends and then ultimately our families...starting from distant cousins, aunts and uncles down to our own spouse and children. Ultimately, we are all selfish creatures where everything we do is self-serving. Yes, everyone, even Mother Teresa was selfish. How you ask? Well, she committed her life to serving others because it gave her the most self satisfaction. Nothing wrong with that at all. Just proving the point that we are all provincial and selfish.

Note: I don't like the narrow minded thinking behind choosing sides. I really don't think Americans or Italians are any better than any other country. I KNOW that it is just the luck of the draw where we wound up being born or raised. What matters is that we understand that we are all brothers and sisters in the family of MAN. Yes, being a racist can be a good thing if we remember that we are all in the human race. Yes, even those psychotic lost souls in the middle east.

Thursday, February 09, 2006 at 7:44:49 AM

Personally, I don't think a racist realizes that their beliefs are racist, but instead a basic observation of the world around them. I'd suspect somewhere along the line they had a bad experience with a certain someone and identified a certain action or attitude with a certain people group. We see it all the time here and in the real world, people being guilty by association and that usually goes far beyond race.

@Pai - I have to disagree with your assertion concerning Mother Teresa's motivation for the service she rendered to others. I suppose it is a possibility, but I doubt it. I think the idea reveals more about yourself than Momma T.

Thursday, February 09, 2006 at 10:20:31 AM

I would say that Mother Teresa was selfish, only because she refused to fly coach. True story.

The Canadian's have struck again.

Gretzky and his minions have managed to corrupt the innocent mind of Rick Tocchet. I blame everything on Gretzky. No American could stoop so low.

The court of public opinion has spoken.

We need a wall put up to divide the countries. Somebody recently spoke about this? Here's an excerpt.

Prime Minister Harper, if you seek peace, if you seek prosperity for the United States and Canada, if you seek division: Come here to this gate! Mr. Harper, close this gate! Mr. Harper, build up this wall!

And there are plans to do a lot of building around it... Hmmm ;)
