For me, 2 years.
Well, it depends on 1. The gamer, 2. The care ofthe gamer.
I had 2 mini ones for my lappy, 1 lasted 2 months, the other lasted 1 month. Then I used a wireless, mom's, broke that. And I'm stuck with a kick-___ mouse that I love for gaming purpsoses. The logitech Mx518. B)
I have a Kensington PilotMouse Optical and it works great - I got it because the mouse that macs come with doesnt have a right-click button, which is really annoying.

Generally, it lasts until you manage to spill water on it. Same goes for the keyboard. Trust me, I know. :S

How long will a mouse last for an average gamer like me?
Seems like a year or two...
