I need some help. I got my new comp and bought a wireless router to hook the two computers up to the internet. I have them hooked up and running but the comp with the wireless connection is lagging out bad in TT. Does anyone have any ideas about what I can do to fix this problem? It worked fine before the wireless connection.

Thanks,
Chuck

Do a speed test with and without the wireless

Any kind of WEP encryption will slow down your wireless connection. Some routers allow you to adjust some of the wireless settings. On my D-link Router they are found in tools/performance. You might also try repositioning your router/antenae.

I use wireless with my Apple Ti-800. I can play on the ground floor with the router being on the third floor... And I don't seem to get any lag.... I know this doesn't help your situation, but I just wanted to let you know that you should be able to play TT wirelessly without lag.

Me, too play wirelessly over the internet. It work great but at times (whenever me get a phone call) the 2.4 ghz phone interferes w/ my internet access (using Airport Express)... Is there any known fix to use other than trashing the phone?

UPDATE: fixed with the Airport Admin Utility. There's a check box for compatiblility w/ 2.4 ghz devices I didn't check. (doh!)

Yay! Hola! Yay!

Also, we upgraded to 5.8ghz phones and it fixed the same problem you were describing.... Not only that, the 5.8 seems to give us MUCH greater range with the handsets. We can easily go outside and walk about 30 feet into the back yard and still pick up a strong signal.

Chuck says his internet is fast, and also that TT is jerky when playing in Quickplay and Solo mode. I told him to lower the resolution settings in TT control panel to see if that would help. Maybe bad video card or ram.

Either that or try changing the channel the wireless network is using
Go to your router/access point admin pages
Channel 11 or 6 is usually good to go

@ Chuck

Try using a patch cable into the router and see if that doens't cure it. If it doesn't then Roo's right.

I don't think that it is a wireless problem after all. I checked my computer perfomance and when I open TT it uses 100% of my ram. That is what is lagging me out. I have 512K of ram. Since I added the wireless to the system is it causing my to use all the ram? It used to be enough to play...or is it something else going on??

Bye the way thanks to everyone for the help and suggestions. I am old and my brain is turning to mush.

Thanks,
Chuck

My sister's 1Ghz eMac w/256MB RAM ran TT slugishly. I stuck in another 512MB and all was well. Can't have my nephew unable to play TT! :)

BTW Chuck you and your computer must be old....512k!!

@ Blind Cide
Smarty pants!

I need more ram. Since I am computer dummy ( just ask BC), I need guidance. I have 512 MB of pc 2100 DDR. Do I have to double the memory? It looks like I have two 256 MB DIMMs. Can I replace one with a 512 MB DIMM or do I have to replace both DIMMs? Where is an inexpensive place to buy ram? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Chuck

PS. Did I say all that right BC...LOL

If its like a pc then leave in a 256 and replace the other 256 with a 512...wont matter

Or get a pc with 4 slots :)

Edit is thing a mac?

If its a pc I know that there is NO WAY TT uses all your memory....best bet is to backup all your stuff worth saving and reload everything...(makes a hell of a difference I promise)
