Does it freeze if you play offline as well? If it freezes offline then I would suspect that the video chip is overheating. If it's a tower model you can easily check to see if there is any dust built up on your video card.
Have you tried running the Activity Viewer to see if the processor is overloaded? At what resolution are you running the game?
@ Banshee,
Scrap Mac, and install Linux. Your PC will be working better than you have ever seen. You owe it to your machine!!!

So he can have as much fun as you are over in another thread just getting the OS installed? Mac OSX, like any Linux distro, is after all just another flavor of UNIX. The most polished and easiest to use flavor that is. :)
You can run Linux on a Mac. All major Linux distros come with a PowerPC version. I recommend Ubuntu.
Oh, and when you're done installing it, type this into a Terminal window:
apt-get install supertux
for a pleasant surprise in the form of a hillarious Super Mario clone.

Ahhh Just Get A Windowz I'd Prefer :)
HaHa ^^ You Just Got p00ne1) WanT SoMe MoRe?? 1v1 You Host It.
@Banshee,
Does it freeze just letting it sit for a day running. The speed of the machine sounds fine, 1.8 Ghz. If the first question is yes, it sounds more like a hardware problem. Say memory, disk, cpu... My 800 Mhz G4 runs with uptimes of months, never shut it off... Because of the slow boot... Show CPU.. Another story
Check out this article. I am going to take it apart today and check for dust, etc. As BC suggested, maybe even run it a few days with the original video card. It is not just this game that causes trouble, other things do as well, but an example would be when launching the game the screen "flickers" and then hangs for a few seconds in a white screen, then may freeze. If it does launch, it will be playable for a short while. Then when I quit it will sort of freeze again, sometimes images stay on the screen a few seconds as well. I am gonna monkey around with it some today but it very well may be that Apple put out a lemon.
Oh, yeah it will freeze if it sleeps, if you switch almost any application from window mode to large or full screen, etc. TT WILL freeze if I launch it after using EyeTV, playing a DVD or any type of video. I haven't played much offline in a while but I would guess that it would be fine as long as it made it past the initial launch. This has been a very annoying problem, I am gonna try calling Applecare as well.
Banshee I had a similar problem on a relatively new Mac last year. It turned out to be heat related. Since a replacement of a faulty temperature sensor and (argh) the fried cpu's that resulted from them , TT has always run great. Your machine is probably in need of a pit stop. TG for Applecare huh.
Here's a cool free app to monitor the temp sensors in your machine. I would guess if the
sensors are faulty you could get inaccurate readings though. It's worth having a look though.
BC,

Getting Xandros installed was easier than installing Windows. I think that you are taking some of the things out of context.
My issues are really trying to run software, and installing it. The process is a bit different to Mac, and Windows. Remember that Mac is Linux based, and not the other way around!!!
I suppose there always be the dull aged was as to which O/S is the best. I have used Mac, and I think it's better than Windows no doubt, however I still think that Linux is the way to go.
Unfortunately when it comes to Linux I am a n00b.
Anyway, have fun with your Mac, there is nothing wrong with them!!

Get a new computer if that one sux so bad
@ DJ,
Being rather new to Linux I thought I would try a few distros. After being restless with Ubuntu, IM indicated that I try Xandros, as it is easy to use, and it is extremely good when it comes to detecting hardware.
After 24 hours of Xandros usage I am convinced that this is a good distro.
The version I am using, Deluxe, has to be purchased, however there is a Free version if this distro. Unfortunately there is no Live version, so it's either taking a plunge or not.
I'm getting used to KDE once again. Last time I used KDE was with SuSe.
SK
@ DJ,
It is Debian based. Hang in there and I will send you an e-mail shortly. Curious to know what Slackware was like??

Thanks for the replies, Linux is actually somewhat intriguing but I have way too much $ in software and other junk (Eye TV, RealBasic Pro, etc.) to go that route, if I had more time I might play with it on a dual boot basis and check it out though. Anyhow, earlier tonight an Apple software update appeared:
"Power Mac G5 (Late 2004) System Firmware Update for Mac OS X 10.4.3
About this Update
This Power Mac G5 System Firmware Update is only for the 1.8 GHz, (600 MHz bus), single-processor Power Mac G5 (Late 2004) computer. This update improves the reliability of your Power Mac G5, especially after it has been inactive for two hours..."etc.
Seems like my machine was with a small batch of others of the same configuration experiencing the same type of trouble. With any luck this will take care of it.
Thx again and take care all!

1.8 G5 single processor Mac, yeah, this ones a piece of crap. It freezes if you look at it wrong. 2 out of 3 times it'll freeze just launching this game unless I do a clean re-boot prior, and then the connection will lag if I am on more than 1/2 hr. I finally grew the nards to try some TS and sure enough about 3/4 into the game POW the machine froze once again. Man sometimes does it suck to be me!
