There's The Gimp for Mac. Learn that one well and it is the best free one out there.
For starters,use paint,its pretty easy to learn the interface and use it for your first skins til your ready to take on the big bosses! ;)

^ no ^^ yes. Just start useing solid colors, and go from there. When you find a new feature, and you want to use it, use it. Best to let yourslef know the abiliy of yer program.

Trust me,when you make about 1-4 skins with paint download or buy difficult programs and stuff then your rady for the masses!!! :P

@Scythe- I would suggest finding a program and sticking with it for a while. ::thinks of an analogy:: It is like a guitare. You don't buy a crappy one if you want to continue playing. You buy a mediocre, or good one so you can learn all the tricks and treats of it.

I would suggest, for starters, AppleWorks; painting program, because I know its free on most iMacs.
But my fav is AdobePhotoshop7, I've used it for art for years and its never let me down...Its just not free

All I need is a (free) program. And how I start with it! I m on a Mac (iMac soon :)). I ve downloaded
'Troque Showtool Pro' but I don't know how to start skinning there or even how to upload a picture! Please I need help.
PGG told me he uses Appleworks but I can't download that for free. Or I know not where! I m getting desperate! :[
