I'll still show up a couple times a week late at night for team scrum, but even that is becoming less and less.
Used to play indie and team scrum mornings, noon and night, but not in a very long time.

Paisano, sk is right, it HAS been happening awhile, and we've all noticed a large amount of players slowly moving away from ThinkTanks because of the overpopulation of 'newbies' or the 'malicious few' you mentioned. It gets to all of us, just some more slowly than others. Sorry to see you leave, I will miss your presence.

No doubt that what troubles PTT and the game is the so-called "wrath of the teenager." (In his last post, Stinker alluded to this as well.)

Not going to go into a lot of details.

Just say that psychologists say along these lines:

...developmentally people usually don't learn to deal gracefully with others (especially where contradiction or criticism is involved) until after the teen years. And more so when no face-to-face contact is involved.

However, there are younger types here who do well. And there are a few older types (anony) who are...regressive.

Not to take away from the current moderators...

Just trying to keep it fun, ladies and gents.

I am not sure what made me visit the site today.... I have not been here or in the game for a long, LONG time.... (FWIW... I miss my TT buddies here).
Seeing that Pai is retiring made me want to speak up...

Blanket statement: No insults are intended to the vets of PTT, think tanks, or of the PTT forum itself... Quite the opposite, I think the good people here are incredible and this site serves the community well.... It is (as usual) the vocal minority of degenerate jerks that this post is directed toward...

I used to be SO addicted to Think Tanks and PTT. But it was always this strange emotional roller-coaster. Yup, there are a lot of good people here and I have enjoyed some incredibly fun and interesting debates, but the "intellectual-terrorists" are now the first thing that comes to mind whenever I think about PTT or playing the game.

The reality is, victims of terrorism remember the day the café exploded much more vividly than they remember a day they enjoyed a cappuccino at that same café. I remember being called a "CxxT" and being chased from server to server by some adolescent degenerate much more vividly than I remember laughing with friends in the game.... I remember the chat-spammers spewing inane crap much more than I remember the details of friendly conversation...

YES, you are all correct that we should focus on the fun, focus on the good people, focus on the good players.... But in the end, those are just a bunch of words don't apply unilaterally. I WISH I could just look past the degenerate vocal minority, but in the end, all I knew was that I was more frustrated than satisfied with my experiences in the game and in PTT....

As we all know, it is a shame, and there is next to nothing we can do about it... One thing I decided I could do about it, was to redirect my attention to the physical world around me, rather than this virtual world that seemed to make me unhappy far too often.

Pai.... You and I are friends and through emails, we had gotten to know each other more than most online acquaintances. We know a lot about each others strengths and each others weaknesses. My reality is that it is a good move to distance yourself from this experience... This is just my opinion (obviously)... But I think it is a good move. I know it was a good move for me.

YES, I miss being here and I miss a lot of the people (you know who you are)....

I'm glad I decided to check PTT one more time to check this thread! I know you stopped playing and coming to this board long ago, Katherine.
I also know that you've never been happier too. I have to admit that the less I've played and visited this board, the happier and more successful I've been in my real life (Got a much better job, more money, more job satisfaction, another baby (girl) on the way, more sleep, more visits with friends and family, more life!). It's not a coincidence, that is so true.

Now, if I were a teenager or in my 20s and single, then I think I'd continue to play TT and visit PTT 24/7!!! However, that is not the case and thus I must say farewell. The last straw wasn't caused by some bratty snot-nosed kid as I always thought it would be, but someone I actually liked and respected...an adult no less who became an angry vicious sore loser who decided to attack me in a public manner with total lies. I knew then that I had had enough of this message board. Despite all of the valiant efforts by Lonewolf and his crew, it just isn't worth the time anymore.

No need to reply with more anger and bile. I will not return to this board again. So you will be wasting your time insulting me. I have a real life to enjoy. I highly suggest you get one too.

You know, after reading this thread it just kinda nails the points everyone - Pai, Stinky, TG, etc - have made to date.

Had I not been made aware of the "unread threads" view on this forum (as well as "mark all as read"), I probably would have hung up my tights a long time ago.

I have taken several breaks from the game and this forum since the beginning...ranging from a couple of weeks to a couple of months...yet something always kept drawing me back (read this as if it's the line out of "The Godfather"). The last time it was the intellectual banter....JJ, Stinky, 44, Flea, t raider, Tally, and Om, God bless all of 'em.

Not a whole lot left to hold onto now.....if I wanted to hear / read some of this current stuff I'd just go on an AOL chatroom.
