No, I'm not gay. BTW, Splam, the definition of "gay" is "happy". Does anybody out there have the guts (Shags excluded) to give up an alias? I'll start. Sometimes I'm snakey. If you won't come out and say it, give hints.

Hello fishtank.

I have to disagree with you on the definition you recall as "gay". I have no idea where you heard from people saying that "gay" is the definition for happy? It's false. Whoever told you that must be unedicated and was too lazy to check the dictionary. The real definition that your looking for is right from the dictionary which is:

Of, relating to, or having a sexual orientation to persons of the same sex.

Translation...

Meaning that a male is attracted to yet another male. This is considered offensive if used inapproprietly.

But fishtank is also right, gay does also mean happy, it has been used in many songs reffering to gay as happy.

I had a PTT alias about a year ago, named "Black Dragon". It's pretty much obsolete now.
I agree with ^. For example, unless you were one of those "holiday" grumps, you must've been singing:

Don we now our gay apparell

Am I right?

Google: define:gay

1. Cheery: bright and pleasant; promoting a feeling of cheer; "a cheery hello"; "a gay sunny room"; "a sunny smile"
6. Homosexual or arousing homosexual desires

It seems that google at least takes gay to mean happy much more than homosexual, though lately it has become impractical to use it as such because of the extreme negative connotations attached to it. Many great works of literature use it to mean happy, or bright.

However, the electronic Oxford Dictionary reports this:

Gay |g?| adjective ( gayer , gayest )
1 (of a person, esp. A man) homosexual : that friend of yours, is he gay? • relating to or used by homosexuals : feminist, black, and gay perspectives.
2 lighthearted and carefree : Nan had a gay disposition and a very pretty face. • characterized by cheerfulness or pleasure : we had a gay old time. • brightly colored; showy; brilliant : a gay profusion of purple and pink sweet peas.

They also give a very nice explaination of why it is used as such:

USAGE Gay meaning ‘homosexual,’ dating back to the 1930s (if not earlier), became established in the 1960s as the term preferred by homosexual men to describe themselves. It is now the standard accepted term throughout the English-speaking world. As a result, the centuries-old other senses of gay meaning either ‘carefree’ or ‘bright and showy,’ once common in speech and literature, are much less frequent. The word gay cannot be readily used unselfconsciously today in these older senses without sounding old-fashioned or arousing a sense of double entendre, despite concerted attempts by some to keep them alive. Gay in its modern sense typically refers to men ( lesbian being the standard term for homosexual women), but in some contexts it can be used of both men and women.

So gay, in fact, means both happy in the older sence, and homosexual in the newer world. But gay certainly does mean happy SOMETIMES. ;)

^ nice job, Posiden. I was going to post something similar.

Oh, back to aliases... Sometimes I go by Amos Moses, but only for the sake of anonymity

ßen and Nick (Chilled Lizard) were in the first mod I ever visited... Wondered what happened to that name.

Yes it's a nice word, and like it's so well said it's too bad it connot be used more frequently.

Oh, and Rogue and Nuts call me chubby sometimes.

They must both be peeping Toms.
Although the last time I made a suprise vist to practice for our 3 on 3 team, I caught these two in the act. I think they were doing the Rooster dance. I never did get a straight answer from them.

They look pretty gay to me! I mean, look how happy they are! Now that's really gay.

I'm not so sure how Rooster feels about these two making fun of his kind.

We'll see.

Ignorant kids mean it in a bad way. You never hear a kid saying this is such a gay moment. They say F*** you you gay @** F***** or something like that.
