I'm not sure what is going on lately but there seems to be an absence of common players in TT.
In the daytime it's the usual bunk, indie servers filled with jerks and @$$&o!$ mixed with other frustrated players trying to get a decent game in.
but...
At night, 11 PM -1 AM where there was once a few servers with TS games or even an indie server with a decent game going on, there is nothing.
If there are players in an indie server they are unfamiliar names.

Where did everyone go?

I played from 11PM - 1 AM (Mountain Time) and there was only one server with players and the only player I recognized was Tally Ho. It seems that Rx is on holiday thus his server is down, though I played with somebody under his name on thursday.

What time were you playing Pedro?

I played one night at 10:00 eastern and I saw smokin J, monkee man, trivox, and a bunch more in roosters and a few more idiot-protected servers. I still play in indie shockwave it aint that bad if you have the ignore script and know how to handle cliff hangers

Max I have been busy of late and typically don't get to play at night Sun-Tues. Wed through Sat I'm still found in one of the servers. Dash Bash and Roo's have been the flavor lately. We're still around. I think the pick up games will be off-and-on due to the holiday season.

Just gearing up for the Jan start of PS X.

^^^Wasn't me, because I have stayed away from the non-stock maps with few expections. I haven't been playing on any you-need-extra-art-work-to-play-here for several weeks.

You don't have to let go of one rope before grabbing the other. But you'll have to let go of one if you want to swing forward.

Hey Max, you have to be lucky indeed to find a game with the familiar vets! I check through the night and like to join when I see a few familiar faces. I play a bit earlier nowaday, around 8-10 PST (Which is 11-1 EST!) for indeed it's hard to get a game going after. West Coast has been slacking its late-nite TT shift! :'( This said there's many 'new' players which are not only good foes but also decent and fun to play with.

LGM

Impossible odds was up last night, I was in there for an hour or so... Seriously weird gametype, but fun.

I remembered a thread about it from a way back and gave it a try...

@ Rep: Lol!

MAX...As a veteran modder who created some really great mods yourself...why don't I ever see you at Repent's or Ouch's or Mr Dotz'? There are still a handful of great players and very decent people who practice good sportsmanship and play challenging and entertaining games all the time in those mods; you are welcome to join us.

Repent set a very high standard for providing fun, creative, user-friendly, abuse-free zones where all are welcome regardless of age or level of skill. No harm in checking it out. Mr Dotz and Ouch have made prolific and fun contributions too. I realize that one shot and you're dead modified weapons take a while to master, but everybody starts at square one. The great shooters are the ones who have persevered, and the benefits of sticking it out, spending the first couple of months gaining experience by getting slaughtered by more experienced players, include the advantages of meeting new friends and witnessing your own steady progress.

One of the major factors in the decline of players is this very common preoccupation with instant gratification. Everybody wants to be invincible immediately; Nobody wants to invest the time and effort to earn the distinction of accomplishment. Developing skill, learning to do anything well, takes time. If a player is so impatient that they choose not to wait for a new mod to load, they almost certainly don't have the patience, or discipline, to accept the challenge of learning to play a different way. They are selling themselves short, and, I think, they don't know what they're missing.

@ Nyarlathotep PBx - I was specifically referring to straight up Team Scrum and maybe indie. My main addiction is with good TS games that I could find pretty much find every night without fail for the last couple of years.

I do not MOD anymore and don't really have the time to just hang out in Modded servers like I used to. Though alot of what you say is succinct, it does not apply to my concern. Besides the fact that I never did liked Battlemode much except for the occasional true base vs. Base MODs.

Basically, nowadays I play TT because I NEED to play Scrum and it's usually only fun if it's Team Scrum.
So in the evenings 11-ish, I go online to play a few games of Team Scrum. But those games are scarce lately, that's all.

Maybe is just because Rx is on holiday... My dealer is out of town and I'm jones'in...

Sad but true confessions of a TT addict.

Rx is back on thursday. In the meantime, some of us have been on the central poo-slinger at a bit earlier than the usual time, but bolo's inability to not "play gags" and "make jokes" makes for questionable fun levels.

I'm diving in just now! Also Max I know some players (not me) are on IM / YM, so maybe they could IM ye?

Monday, December 12, 2005 at 8:20:59 PM

Max, lots of players using aliases as well... ;)

Even the bar's been empty. I guess that Vera has been keeping Norm (KBC) busy these days.

I'm rarely on, once a week on average, but I do have this to offer.

The Ed's, from PSL, will be playing every Wednesday at 10pm EST. If you're tough and dumb enough, come and take the Ed's TS challenge. We'll be drooling for you until PSL starts once again.

Like a midget at a urinal, I was going to have to be on my toes.

Invite a retard to a picnic and you'd better expect to get drool in the potato salad.

Nowadays I get on, I spend 20 !&^(*& minutes downloading and installing the latest mods and files and such so I can work in one 15-minute game. Will the modders give it a break for just one week so I can catch up?
