I suppose you hate black people and Mexicans too, because they're different? Give me a freakin' break.
Ahh yes we are very much more civilized over here.
With our mass feedlots for cheap steaks, huge amount of amature hunters giving a merciful gut shot to millions of dear and elk, our chickens inbred to the point 100 generations from 2 parents living in 1 sq ft of space there entire life, veal, slaughter houses where stun and slit are the end of the line for million of cattle, and hogs. Not to mention our wonderful trips all over the globe with our humane bombs.
Yes we are much more civilized.
(don't worry I'm not in PETA, I just know where my steak that I'm eating came from.) :)
@ Nathan yeah, I hate everybody. Go skin a dog.
@ V.. Millions of deer and elk? There arent millions of dear and elk in north America. The whole veal deal disgusts me as well.
KKB,
Deer populations have been on the rise for a number of years and is now reaching very high levels. (mainly due to there ability to closely coexist anywhere with humans.... Their becoming problematic in many urban area's). And yes there are over a million killed a year. Total Estimated deer Population is over 20 million and of Elk about 800,000. So my statement that million of deer and elk are hunted every year is true.
Do some google searching if you don't believe me :P

^ Gotcha, you're right. Meant the Elk population. I understand the whole Chines thing with lack of protein in their diets etc. I dont like to carry on with long posts. I think it is sick to tape a dogs mouth shut, hang it upside down, skin it alive and beat it to death with sticks. This is totally sick. :(

Meat IS meat...
I suppose you don't take this much offense to factory chickens where they are not allowed to develop their limbs properly due to being constrained so much, with chemicals pumped into them so that they lay eggs far more than is naturally healthy for them, this sort of treatment often makes chickens go insane... But then aslong as they keep laying eggs it doesn't really matter now, does it?
But then again... Thay're not cuddly like dogs!
Yep year of the dog has just been ushered in over here with a tremendous bang and more fireworks than the whole of PTT could let off in a year, and I'm back after all the festivities.
Before I came here I had always heard stories of people eating dog in China, but since I've been here, I've never seen it on a menu, and nor have I met anyone who has eaten it. In fact, China is fast becoming a pet-loving nation particularly dogs and cats, so if they did, I think it's definately a thing of the past. (in most urban cities at any rate - maybe rural china is very different).
They do however have many things on the menu that do make my stomach churn - and they include silkworms (which apparently are delicious) barbecued grasshoppers, and would you believe, scorpions.
-Z-
Ooh! They kill dogs? Sick! In our country, we have fairies that do the unpleasant animal killing...
These people are barbaric. Goes to show how civilized we are in the Western Hemisphere.... KKB :S
Good call KKB! The kind of statement only a Fox News fan would be proud enough to make!
isn't this cool? Every pixel is a dead iraqi civililian! How civilized is that! Cool!
EDIT NOTE? I assume someone objected to the photo? Ok. But why not but an explanation for taking it out? Personally, I would have thought the columbine photo was more objectionable...

^The Corprate Death Burger By Ronald McDonlad!! ( a song by Millions of Dead Cops) from my younger days.
I am a dog lover, I guess no one else is. I know it is true regarding dog eating. Went to China on a buying trip for my furniture biz and they do indead eat any mammal they can get their hands on. Do some research boys. China has less than half the land mass of the US and a bazillion the people. Most of the dog eaters are in the north and west of China.
^KKB - I love dogs too man, and agree (if what your saying is true) the skinning alive etc is not on.
For about 60 cents a carton more - here you can buy free range chicken eggs, and you can also get free range chicken meat.
I buy it, its worth it, as it is tastes sooooo much better and the chickens get to scratch around and go "cluck cluck" and "cock a doodle doo" and all that.
One questions that always bothers me though as I do it very often - Would anyone go fishing if fish screamed and yelled when they are caught?
SR
They do. Only I can hear them. Please stop murdering innocent fish.

No, I love dogs too...and not deep fried or par broiled. If they do skin them alive, I agree that its barbaric. But eating them isn't a sign of barbarism if you concede that eating animals isn't barbaric. Its just how you categorize the world. Where you draw the lines...
In india, the cow is sacred. I eat cows whole, but cooked of course. An indian might call me a barbarian. Fine. I think his categorization schemes are wack. What the hell does he know? He was born with that system, as am i. In my system of categorization, cows is good eats and dogs is good pals. What the hell do I know?
When I was in viet nam last xmas, I saw some folks in a remote village slaughter two dogs. As far as I could tell, they did it as humanely as possible. I did not partake.
I did eat raw horse in japan though. Disgusting. Truly, the smell I left in the restroom after I crapped my guts out was barbaric.

@KKB, The Chinese are bad, but them Koreans are the worst...every last one of 'em. Pretty good at manicures and pedicures, though, so they got that goin' for 'em, at least. Much worse to kill a dog then a pig. And cows ain't much different then chickens, in my book. I don't think I'd mind if people ate cats...buts that's just me and my prejudices.
"Earl" weighs 48 lbs. Good eats.

@squid:
"If trees could scream, would we be so cavalier about cutting them down? We might, if they screamed all the time, for no good reason."
Lol

Year of the dog in China? Gimme a break. Unknown to most of us I have found that the Chinese kill over 10 million dogs per year for food. What's worse than that they skin them alive. I could say more but I dont want to upset any of the youngsters who enjoy TT. Dont buy into the fuzzy Asian culture things regarding the Chinese new year. These people are barbaric. Goes to show how civilized we are in the Western Hemisphere.... KKB :S
