A smallish asteroid called Apophis has already been identified as a possible threat to Earth in 2036. link

This is the sort of thing you read about now and forget about, but it got me thinking. When 2036 rolls around, I'll be 69 and my son will be 38 (about my age now). My folks will most likely be gone and hopefully I'll have some grandchildren. Its just kinda odd to think about how that silent rock, tumbling through space right now could have a huge impact ;) on my life in the future. So it made me think about that future and try to imagine what it will be like. On the one hand, we hope for the regular stuff, on the other, there's no way to predict the twists and turns that life will throw at us personally, much less what world events will shape us and our culture.

So, what sort of life to you see for yourself in 30?

Still waiting for Thinktanks II

:)

I'll have to give that some thought. Dang good chance I won't make another 30, but like my dad used to say, "You might die tomorrow, but don't count on it."

I'll be ruling PTT finally, and going out with both TankGirl and Rabbina. I'll be powerful, and feared. And I'll wear a funny hat.

I'll be 71 with terrible gas and no regard for other people's personal space.

I will have also aquired a 3rd degree black belt in Dutch Oven Techniques from Cabbageville Center for Personal Success.

...probably either dead, or famous.

I would like to think I am going to change the world, but I undoubtedly won't. So this will either affect me, or it won't...

...does that answer your question?

And yes Rabban is the lovely Rabbida, she/he of shaved legs fame. ;)

I either:

Died at a LAN party in 2018. Three days of counter strike, forgot to eat and sleep.

Became a PC repair guy or working in computer graphics for a medium sized company. I'll be living a normal life, married and have a kid.

The second one is way more likely and actually very possible.

^^^ Or
¤ a gigantic reactor on one side of the earth : to accelerate the earth rotation around the sun & see this asteroid fly behind the earth ass ? (some mathematician will have to calculate ow accelerate w/out leaving the earth orbit ! & so many problem linked to the earth rotation...)
¤ using the the moon as a shield : w/ the tidal consequences...

@racer whish you the second possibility ! ;)

continuing to search efficient solution w/ less chaos after XD

Became a PC repair guy (...)

Racer, in the future people will use Macs, and like you know Macs don't need repair so... Your first option looks like the good one! ;) ;)

(...) or working in computer graphics for a medium sized company.

Computer Graphics as we know it will be extinct; we'll have advanced softwares doing incredible automated graphic designs at the press of a button; imagine the PS Filters, except rendering an entire image that looks like the coolest GD of today. ;)

I'll be living a normal life, married and have a kid.

I hope it will still be normal in 30 years!

Hum... I'll be probably be wasting my time on something not very useful (ex. TT), as always. Will still have a kitten/cat on my lap while I do so and the only think I hope I won't be doing, would be smoking. Besides that, all the same. :S

hot pockets.....

I'm probably going to have a large family and go with my brothers and sisters to Ethiopia... If it still exists.

Pray to GOD for him to reveal himself to you.

I hope! Game maker....created his own successful game making buisness

Thursday, November 30, 2006 at 1:34:42 PM

@ Racer- I am insulted. You Think Radiator Games will only become a MEDIUM COMPANY. I am tempted to fire you butt, bud. Only problem is your the leetest of the leet and we all love you :P

Two Chances:

1) I hope to have released several new video games and have done some graphics work for movies and such, have a modest, but modern home with a bunch of secret passage ways and a happy family.

2) Same as the above, only a defense contractor (will have to pull up my b- in Alg 2 right now) instead of a CGI artist.

Pardon my rudeness, I cannot abide useless people.
