Do words like honor - trust and faith have a place?
What about keeping a promise?
Or are these just a convient and disposable words?

If you didnt know it I am going to inform you that for most of my life
I have been a loner
Few close friends but many acquaintances
The reason for this is simple
These words ^ have meaning to me
I live by them
I go the extra yard - Leap tall building not to hurt a bud
Internalize my pain and shrug off many misdeeds for a friend
Sometimes to my own detriment

Whats your definition?

Making it better than it was before. And keeping it that way

Friendship: Someone who you can trust with your secrets, who you feel is caring enough to uphold you in rough times, and responsible enough to place your life and/or your families lives in. That's what a true friend is, and is the exact same reason why I too have few friends.

^ Or is it another reason you have few friends.

@Soap: Unlike in your world, where you have to be "cool" and have a lot of friends who most never give a dime about you, I choose the opposite. I'm a smart kid, whether you choose to believe it or not. If I wanted to, I could be plenty popular.

However, what exactly does that get you? More presents at birthday and Christmas? More people surrounding you while you eat? More people to follow you around and kiss your arse? Well let me tell you this: That all means nothing. At the first sign of weakness out of you, suddenly you're all alone. All your "friends" are over with your rival, now kissing his arse. And you look around for a friend to be around and get over your embarassment, yet anyone worth having as a friend won't be friends with you, because you yourself are one of those "popular" people, who wouldn't be a true friend to them anyways.

I realised this very early on, and made sure that situation never happens to me. I choose to have very few friends, true friends, because those are the only ones that count. And wasting time on those that aren't true friends is just that, wasting time. Now you tell me, is it better to have friends that mean something, or "friends" that kiss up to you?

Friends. Friends are what you make them. Friends are anything they want to be. Friends can be great, Friends can be horrible. The only constant is this:
Friends are infinate. You need to find them.

Pardon my rudeness, I cannot abide useless people.

@Roo
I understand, I have a lot of acquintances, but no real close friends. Except the wife, but she gets kinda mad when I still start talking about other women :).

To me a close friend reads your email and replies. ;)

Guys, you seem to believe a friend is a diamond you find in the rough. Rare, but already there to be picked if you look in the right place. But you have to realize a friendship is foremost a RELATIONSHIP. It takes time to develop and become strong enough to overcome anything. If you give up at the first slight, the first misdeed, then you have lost an opportunity to strengthen that bond and you put an impossible benchmark for friendship. They can and will abandon you at times, they are human after all I hope, but if they have a chance to think it over and ask for your forgiveness and friendship, isn't that the true test of friendship?

Of course, that reflection may take years or decades, but as long as you do not do them a wrong, I believe they will come back one day.

The path to peace is case of cold beer and hail of bullets!

A friend is someone who knows, likes, supports, sympathizes, allied in a struggle and trusts.

Meaningless.
Character traits, sure. Cell mates can be best friends and carry none of these qualities.
I too am a loner, but because I am a bastar*.

@ NUTS poor you if you only have net friends... :[ I hope it was a joke ?

Guishin is right : 1st it's a relationship : Being able to tell & ear all things life. Tell is the most difficult. I've 3 very close friends (I see 2 of them 1 or 2 times/y...) male & 1 female (which my wife hate for bad reason (I guess its female character)). Others I like to see them & speak goin on restaurant etc. I think they help (them & me) to be social & spend some fun time... ;)

About internet friends : On my own it's most important here to do what we tell & act respectful of others: else we won't be trust in anything...I think most of you are/can be friends (or I like this idea :) ). (Don't think guys I'm naive :-P)

Of course words like honor , faith & trust have a place ;)

Hmmm, Sorry but I hadda bump this.

Freindship = Unconditional Forgiveness

My reason for this is, whats the reason a friendship would end, unforgiveness? There are many other facets to friendship/relationship, trust, honor, integrity, all contribute, but at the end of the day are you able to forgive? I think those of us that are married will be able to relate to this more so than those that are not. Lord knows for those that have stayed in a relationship for more than a week with our significant other, it took a ton of forgiveness.

@ Nuts
See thats why I don't reply to you
I hate you :P

A friend is some one you can trust to be there for you,
through Thick & Thin.
No matter time of day or what day it is.
A friend shows unconditional love(you all know what I mean by the word love) no matter what !

Friend - Respect back to you

Saturday, December 30, 2006 at 6:50:31 AM

Leave me to check the trusty ol' (online) dictionary :P :

Friend /frɛnd/
–noun
1.a person attached to another by feelings of affection or personal regard.
2.a person who gives assistance; patron; supporter: friends of the Boston Symphony.
3.a person who is on good terms with another; a person who is not hostile: Who goes there? Friend or foe?

Tankster got it with the respect thing. All friendships/relationships begin on some level out of respect. When the respect is gone, the friendship will soon follow.

They are human after all I hope

Friendship???
Certainly not here, deception, lies, hypocricy, 2-faced human beings, a reversed image of one's true personality, twisted mind... Back-stabber,
Again, the meaning of friendship does not exist here, within this so-called Cyber community I've learned not to trust or believe one's words, Yes, it's harsh, but true, one of these days each and everyone of you will learn and understand the phrase "keep your friend close, but keep your enemy closer" lol

Sunday, December 31, 2006 at 3:40:11 AM

@ Tank0r - you get what you give
And it seems you dislike most everyone here

Oh btw - I hear you were banned in my server for using extremely bad language
I tried to enlighten you here in the forums
but you seem to think its just ok to be a bad example to the younger crowd

Now I've seen your picture from the West Coast Convention and know that
you are old enuff to know what it means to "set a good example"
So I have no understanding of your stupidity

Like I said to you in a server once
"People respect skill - it must be something else about you they dont like"

Enuff said

Not until just now. Thanks. Bastid.

^^ That's the only way I ever got any in college.

Whenever a sorority had a plan to go out "hogging" on a Friday night my ears tingled. I made sure not to miss Dungeons and Dragons Club on those nights.

Like a midget at a urinal, I was going to have to be on my toes.

Invite a retard to a picnic and you'd better expect to get drool in the potato salad.

@ROOS,
I dislike those who can't take a beating in a game, always cry, always bitch about losing a game,
Those are the ones I hate, you are one of them, I was banned from your server because of an admin named LONEWOLF lol.. Who just could not take a beating, always got something to say about the game, "can't shoot, can't do this , can't do that" I'm not a Scrummer, but I can beat any of you any day, Yes, I am old enough. And how old are you? 45? 50? Some of you are much older than that and still bitch about losing in a cartoon game, how lame is that? Using bad language? Oh please, ask yourself ROOS, how many times have you and many other ADMINS said the F word??? Dont lie to yourself because god knows it. Ask NAPALM he knows all about it.. LOL, talk about "people respect skill" spare me with that shit, if any of you suckers truly respect people with skill, I wouldn't be here posting all these craps.. Enlighten yourself and many others close to you.. You made good maps, Yes, had your server running so everyone could play and have fun, that part I respect, but dont think you're god because you made a few maps, trust me I aint the only one whoo thinks that, they dont have the ball to say it, because they're afraid of your power ROOS, admin, site moderator, hahaha but I aint ROOS, Hate me, Like I care..

No you fool
I dont hate you
I dont even know you
BUT I know that you said f***
and b**** and a few other lovely things in my server
When I have told you time and time again that my server and this website
is rated G for genreal audiences
My grandkids and the many other young minds play this game and read this forum

I have asked you as an adult to curb your mouth
You chose to be a fool

And just for your information games are won and lost and its just a game
Many can beat me and many can be beaten by me
That doenst make anyone a better person
and I have never cried or complained about you or anyone one else winning

Character and conduct define a person
not whos the best shooter or whos the baddest SOB in the valley

Everyone knows that cursing is an ignorant and demeaning act
A total lack of educated thought
Everyone that is but you..........
You really need to get your facts straight and get the chip off you shoulder
You hurt no one but you

Can't friendship take 'evil side' aswell,

Like subjectiveness when adminning?

Monday, January 01, 2007 at 5:22:36 AM

@ Cassie
Yes people can be petty and biased
The important thing is to pick the right admins

The key to being a good admin is to be fair to everyone
To give them a 2nd chance
To explain the rules of the server as set down by the host
If the host says "No Team Killing Allowed"
"No Cursing beyond the occasional damn or hell or crap"
Then thems the rules

A good host choses admins who have maturity and an even temper
And will if neccessary remove admins who dont prove worthy

I cant speak for all the hosters but I promote good clean fun
And competitve games
More often than not I "go red" to even the teams and I take a beating
But it pleases me when so many others are enjoying the game

I host for the community but I also host for my grandkids
They are only allowed to play in my server or in Repents
Because their parents and I want them to be as safe as possible
Hence the no cursing rule in both servers

And thats why Tank0r got banned from Roos
He is like a broken record with his insistance that he is disliked because he is
such a great shooter.
Heh! He cant see the forest for the trees
And is old enuff to know what it means to set a good example
So he has no excuse

The ACA (Admin Circle Association) will not tolereate trolls
Those who either ruin the game for others or abuse innocents
with their foul mouthed comments

My grandson is 7 y/o and I will not allow some troll to call
him a blank blank or tell him where to stick his privates
I have ZERO tolerance for that type of idiotic and hurtful language
especially when its directed at the younger folks
