Ok I think your Internet Security is WAY too protective. This is what I do to fix the problem:

Right click on your Internet Explorer > Click properties > click on "Privacy" > Now your privacy setting might be at it's highest which is "Block all Cookies" > I just set mine to "Medium" which means it not overly protective but a decent protection.

This is your choice. Whatever protection suits you.

Oh and then, when that happens, there will be a little window icon with a red x in the bottom of IE, right click it and click "Allo popups from this site temporarily" or "Always allow popups from this site"

Well, actually it doesn't ''block'' them but they exit out when they are done loading. Also, my security is medium.

Hope this helps :) :

Right-click Internet Explorer and then click properties

In the Tabs, select the Privacy Tab and then unmark the place where it says Block pop-ups

You are Done! ;)

The most important item of this thread is Kami is using iTunes. :)

Friday, July 15, 2005 at 12:03:30 PM

Well... I shouldn't tell that my OFFICIAL MICROSOFT LAPTOP came with iTunes installed... I just hate that program so much I almost destroyed my harddrive. As I wouldnt do that cos of the price, unninstalling it with a program that completly removes the data replacing it with 0's was enough :)

^hahahahaha, itunes is evil
but whats worse is that my mom is like "hey, check out this new music program I got! Isnt it cool"
ohhh maaan!!! Jeez
akkkk!!
* has heart attack.... Dies..... Shoots bill gates in the face....etc *

Now WHAT you guys have against iTunes is beyond me. It's so fast it's scary, it's a small app, it has full encoding support and many file formats, inexpensive music downloads, great User Interface, the best Visualizer, Supports "importing". Not "ripping" like in WMP, which is illegal. Has Smart Playlist creation, party Dj mix creation, and is the best piece of software that Apple has ever made. I'm sure that all the respectable people will agree with me. WMP has none of the features mentioned above.Is there something about the Windows version?

@Warfare
I'm glad my parents are on in the "get-music-programs" business... If they were I think we wouldnt have a computer the day after it was installed :P

@Chilled Lizard
Eeeek! Aaaaack! ITunes is just a --------------------------------- (won't even say it)
About WMP not having it, Did you ANYHOW think I use WMP?
I use Winamp and many others (I do use quicktime due to the.mov files and Web Radios, nothing else tough)
I'm not against Mac but when I hear the name of that disgusting app, I just throw up!

Art, you just made a statement and never backed up your opinion. There's only like 2 programs by Apple that run on Windows, and you seem to be very biased. Are you trying to make Winamp sound better becuase you're jealous of all us mac users? I bet you don't even have an iPod. You've most likely never tried podcasts, probably only have like 2 songs on your library, don't care about purchasing mp3 files... Is that it? You still haven't said WHY you dislike iTunes.

Yikes!
Time to weigh in on the subject
IMHO
I dislike ITunes because at its core is an application called BackWeb
(think about it!)
I have a jukebox (Archos) I bought 3 years ago It has a a 20gig hd and is PnP and cost less than half of what Ipods
were at the time. The Ipod was $500 last I checked
And no I am not jealous I like both OSes (and Linux too) and have worked and played on both
Each has good/bad features.

^ EEEEEEEEEEEK BackWeb! It's so evil!

I use Winamp.

What is BackWeb? Is it a trojan.horse back-door for viruses to get in? :S

Man, the course of this thread is amusing. Sorry I can't help you Big Show, I've got Win2k and haven't experienced anything like that.

I use foobar2000 for mp3s, I like it's utilitarian no frills interface..

I use audacity!
XD XD

Ok sorry I didnt answer sooner but, I dont usually come to this forum :P

@CL
Not true, I don't buy music on the web but on stores, I have tried podcasts and they suck (I just read the xml to get the files, thats better :P), and I just hate iTunes because, well it just [censored by me].
No I am not jealous at the OSs, I don't have a Mac but have seen one and worked with one before (and they're RARE to see on my country, like an endangered specie)
I do have Linux, I may say it's cool but I stick with windows, dont have almost anything under my linux.

@56k
Windows XP SP2 has the IE6 popup blocker included so of course you haven't experienced it yet
BTW I suggest, that if you gonna stick with windows, change to WXP, its much better (I know, I have had W2k)

@Warfare
Well I have never tried audacity, I've heard about it, but I'll stick with my current apps ;)

@All
Some sites with info on BackWeb:
http://www.liutilities.com/products/wintaskspro/processlibrary/backWeb/
http://www.iamnotageek.com/a/359-p1.php
http://www.cexx.org/dlgli.htm

From the first site its a bit dangerous, the second one is the removal tool, and the third one shows a more detailed info, with good and bad things...

There are companys like Western Digital that have a deal, on wich they install this app by default on our workstations for Money! What a bad thing to do...

Friday, July 29, 2005 at 5:59:34 AM

Podcasts do not suck, they're so much better than just *reading the xml file* it's not funny.

Friday, July 29, 2005 at 4:41:42 PM

@ art

@Warfare
Well I have never tried audacity, I've heard about it, but I'll stick with my current apps

I was joking art, audacity is a sound file editor...
it is not ment to be used as something to actually play files on
it has an ogg exporter (TT sounds) so thats why you have heard of it

Ah, another thing I forgot to mention, iTunes doesn't use backweb, the iTunes source code comes with Mac OS X, it's built entirely in Cocoa, the safest programming language ever. Sorry, Rooster, this time your wrong.

@Chilled Lizard
I believe the language used for the windows version is different, and the backweb app is a lonely.exe that is run when the app starts, and can only be killed by what started. Remember Backweb is WINDOWS-ONLY so I know the Mac source code wouldn't have Backweb

@Warfare
Lol... Ok! XD

Wednesday, August 03, 2005 at 6:21:29 AM

@Art, AH, I see. That mostly makes sense :)

@Big Show, HA. I will never use WMP for my audio library. When I have to use Windows, I use either iTunes or Winamp. I NEVER use WMP. I use THIS! Muhaha! ;)

Wednesday, August 03, 2005 at 12:38:05 PM

Well Chilled
It came in with iTunes which was bundled with my webcam software
After a security sweep I disabled Backweb and iTunes no longer functions
Perhaps I am wrong - wouldn't be the first time
The connection between the two lead me to believe they were connected
I stand corrected then
