Pai Bad?
I double up on Instant Handbrake, but have not registered/tried QT Pro. Is the option built in there, flea?
Yes, QT Pro will save and edit movies and tracks plus export. The options:
{WalMart free for over 24 months!}
@ Fleabiscuit and Tally
Looks like the handbrake developer has a new version that goes straight to iPod format. Handbrake isn't just a ripper, it also converts into a format. MacTheRipper is a good rip-only app with lots of options and rips a 90 minute DVD in 90 min.
A good and free alternative to Quicktime Pro is MPEG Streamclip . It is for both Mac and Windows and is highly regarded in both versions.
Ive got my DVD ripped in VOB format. I assume that MPEG steamclip will convert that to the proper format. Ill try it and see.
EDIT: ACK! It wants some sort of MPEG-2 Playback Component. Anywhere I can get THIS for free?

Fleab, I remember paying for qt about 12 minutes before qt 6 came out. My fingers still tingle. Good info, however.
Just adding onto my phonebook-like list of reasons to get a mac

@ fuji
There's a Windows beta version of handbrake here: http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/tivo-mplayer/HandBrake-0.7.0-GUIAndCLI-20060115.zip?download
The forum for it is here: http://handbrake.m0k.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=234#234

I can't help with the Windows users but for Mac users, I can verify the latest version of Handbrake can rip a DVD to an mpeg4 file that can be imported into iTunes and synched to an iPod.

What about, er, just watching your movie on TV?
Can't say that I'm all that big on watching my movies on that tiny little screen myself. *grins* So, it's portable. Only one person can really enjoy it unless you bought a dual headphone adapter. Even still... I guess it would just be the rush of "I GOT A MOVIE ON MY iPOD! CHECK IT!". Other than that, I like my comfy couch and a pile of good food!
@ All the mac users:
Are you guys trying to convert US ? You make those macs so good I begin to wonder why I ever switched!

Fuji, don't let them convince you that you need a mac to do this ;). There's plenty of video conversion software out there. For example, this might be what you're looking for.
^ it works delightfully! I now have The Trouble Wth Tribbles on my video iPod. Thank you!!! :)

Ive searched the web for many such programs, and most dont do what I want them to. Is anyone here aware of the process in which you rip a DVD onto your hard drive and then convert it to an iPod format?
