At the moment... Nothing. We bought a weight system from some friends, cleared a space and installed it in the garage, and then promptly got flooded with goods for a Non-Profit Charitable organization my wife is helping start up. Our garage is now filled up with all this stuff until they can get the office finished and we can move it all out. *sigh*

I tried jogging for a while once. I have never enjoyed running, and I've already got a weak knee from skiing a lot as a teen, so needless to say it didn't hold my interest. I've done weights before, so I think I can start a regular regimen of it and stick to it.

Update:
Forgot to add a few things...
Normally I play Sand Volleyball once a week. I wouldn't mind taking up racketball, but there are no courts around here. Same with Table Tennis.

I typically exercise 4-5 days per week. Typical week is swimming 30 min 1-2 times per week, lifting 2 times per week, and running 20-30 min 1-2 times per week. I understand many in America are extremely busy, but the benefits of exercising is are simply too important to pass. Once you work it in to your schedule, it becomes as routine as brushing your teeth and showering. You find you cannot live (well) without it :)

Does working out so much increase your fire rate prof? Been trying to figure out why I just cant break into the upper echelon of tt players...maybe its cause I dont exercise enough? I should cut out the fast food too...im really a heavy trapped in the body of a light.

Seriously though...i am still, at the age of 28, enjoying the benefits of a super metabolism. I dont eat well, I get virtually no exercise outside of carrying heavy photo equipement, and I spend a large portion of my time in front of the computer. I have begun to see a little gut forming though and for the first time in my life I have broken 170 lbs on the scale. I could use a little toning however...you know, for the ladies. ;)

I poured a cup of water in a pan of hot veggy oil,so I am not the healthiest person...

Good topic K8!

I agree with Prof. The benefits of excercise are too important to ignore.

For me, I eat healthy and excercise a few days a week. And that's not counting fighting my way through NYC subway crowds daily! ;)
I also have few vices. I don't smoke, drink, do drugs or eat junk food (well OK, occasionally I have some junk food). Not that if you do any of that it means you will be unhealthy and die at an early age. But keeping all of that at LEAST to a minimum is, in my opinion, vital to staying healthy.

Monday, December 06, 2004 at 12:56:51 PM

I have a balanced diet of hamburgers, grilled cheese and cream horns for breakfast. Sausage and provolone cheese is all I ever have for lunch.
For dinner I will get healthy and have some pizza puffs, cheese puffs and cocoa puffs. I run to the bathroom many times a day. I have a sore ass from sitting in front of a computer too long, but I have the healthiest clicky finger in the Midwest. Thanks to Information Technology. LOL

Man I feel good!

Seriously, I just had some blood work done that resulted in a high Triglyceride level. Honestly I have been too busy with work, finishing my degree, moving into a newer home, and raising our kids. I just have not had the time as of late. Although I did just finish with my degree I do plan to get back into the exercise mode. I WILL NOT do it until I can devote myself to it wholeheartedly. I have always been muscular and in good shape, but I know this won't keep, and I need to get back to it for healthy "less vein" reasons. Specificall to see my children live long healthy lives themselves.

I chase after a 2 year old 15 hours a day 7 days a week. Tis a good workout.

Also, I do a lot of fishing. I know, fishing is not exercise. Although where I live we have a few dozen small ponds spread out over several miles. I put on a backpack and bungy one of my light fishing rods to my mountain bike. I ride from pond to pond and then walk around each one. I'll admit that I've been known to bring a sixer with me in the spring and summer time. Look for my exercise video in a store near you titled, "Bungy Fishing: It's not just for rednecks."

I also end up lifting about three months out of the year. I've been doing this for about 10 years and have yet gotten by the mind numbing experience that is lifting. Maybe after my first labotomy lifting will keep my interest for more than three months a year. I usually start working out in February and quit when it starts getting warmer.

Like a midget at a urinal, I was going to have to be on my toes.

Invite a retard to a picnic and you'd better expect to get drool in the potato salad.

IPod plus Mountain Bike.

I also do a bike based treasure hunt that is sponsored by a local bike shop.

About 100-200 riders show up and have to go and get a certain list of things, and it takes you all over and takes about 2 hours to complete.

It's fun and gets people out on their bikes in cold weather.

It's also fun.

@ TG

Good to see you post again! Yes, the MODS have done an excellent job of bringing PTT back to the real world!

33 is not old though, I find that quite young actually...but I'm 16 don't mind me lol. According to my Norwegian background, I am a die-hard bicyclist. Recently, I fixed up an old 6-speed and a BMX, sold them both and bought a 27-speed Mongoose Element. I (usually) ride about 10-20 miles a day, which here in Aurora Colorado is pretty much all the way around the South Side of the city. It keeps me in perfect shape, I have gotten on a diet of 3 small meals a day, and have dropped from my chubby 160-lb. Max weight back down to my regular somewhat skinny 156-lb minimum.

Again, TG great to have you back, was getting boring without you! XO ;)

Football
pretty much the hardest work I've ever done. EVER.
I weigh 285lbs right now, but hey, I'm a lineman.

Well, you can tell that by the name I chose...enough said. Lol
I can't seem to fricken stop drinking soda...friggen stuff is like heroin for me.

Monday, December 06, 2004 at 4:42:39 PM

I play "speed" disc golf most everyday on my way home from work. I play all year as long as it's not too windy or below 10 degrees. I also have my bike on an exercise stand for the days when I don't disc golf.

Yes TG, tunes make all the difference. I use studio headphones on the exercise bike and I'm always surprised at how fast my heartrate and breathing can get when I have the music cranked.

I have been exercising regularly ever since I developed boobs at 31. I love boobs just as much as the next guy...except when they're mine!

I was about 250lbs for my pic @ Stonehenge I posted up here TG. Poundage adds up fast the taller you get, especially if you're muscular at all. Most smaller folk completely mis-estimate my weight when they try, not realizing that. And I'm only 6'2", not that tall.

My goal is to get back down to 220lbs.

I do cross country (fall) and track (spring) as my sports so thats a ton of exercise. I also take a strength and conditioning class at school where we weight lift and run. To show how fast I am, I can do a mile in 5:30, a 5K in 18, and 5 miles in 30 ;)

I have no life, I never get outside nowadays, too cold up here in New England.

However, I do not drink sodas, and I do not eat much sugar.

I am allergic to many things, foods in particular. :'( I take a more, senstive allergy testing, not a scratch test, but one where they inject very little amounts of the allergin into the skin, then 8 minuites later, they check to see how big and how hard the area around the injection was, and if it is positive, they wait a week and then give you the next dillution down and if you test positive for that they test it at lower levels until it gets to a negitive reaction.

I was more allergic to; soybeans, wheat, almonds, peanuts, and green peas. I was moderatly allergic to; rice, corn, green beans, oats, grapes, buckwheat, and many others. However, I was NOT allergic to; potatos (yay), carrots, meats of all sorts, fishes, and one other thing that I forgot.

So now I am having shots for the most allergic ones(soy, peanuts ect) and I am getting drops for the moderate ones(rice, corn ect). I am also on a rotation diet for the moderate and non allergic foods. (Today is potato day yippee!)

Racer, where do you live? There's always winter sports to get some excercise. Skiing and snowboarding will keep you in shape. I like cross country but rarely get to do it. Maybe this winter…

Sorry to hear about the allergies, but at least you know what to stay away from. I know I'm allergic to some things, but I've never taken a test like that to find out what, so I prolly end up eating some things I'm mildly allergic to, and then get, er, "affected" by it. LOL. Good for you for staying away from sugary stuff. I wish I'd done that at an early age. Man, how I used to douse my cereal in sugar! LOL!
"Would you like some milk and cereal with your sugar?"

Hehe. But at least I don't indulge much in that now. Better late than never.

I live in Massachusetts, there is no snow on the ground here where I live.

No snow and 15-40 degreen tempetures = no fun.

Tuesday, December 07, 2004 at 9:42:53 AM

Same here, too cold to go outside.

But when it snows...I will still be bored, just a flat urban area,no hills or anything.

I am in the gym at 6am 4 days a week doing 30-40 minutes of cardio, a few minutes of stretching (my favorite part), followed by about 30 minutes of lifting weights. I have found that at the ripe old age of 33 that it helps me to stay focused and to better deal with the day to day stresses of my vocation.

Tuesday, December 07, 2004 at 12:31:28 PM

I'd love to ski during the winter, but all we've got around here is an artificial snow covered hill. Whoopee! :[

Tuesday, December 07, 2004 at 1:26:11 PM

@ baklava- you're a lineman and all you weigh is 285 lbs?! You better hit the weights boy! Just kidding. Football is a great way to increase physical strength and endurance, but the only real danger (in spite of the fact that it's a contact sport) is the mentality that typically comes with playing football: be tough-the more it hurts the better. Football is no cake walk but you have to be realistic. Don't get carried away in the weight room. Always drink plenty of water. PUT YOUR HEALTH ABOVE ALL ELSE. Thinking I was above death and injury cost me a college scholarship and all I got in return were two trips to the hospital. Guys your size are hard to come by so be careful and you could have a real future in football.

@TG
I play in high school in my hometown, Sand Springs. For some reason I've yet to figure out, we're called the Sandites and our mascot is a minuteman.
@yada
I'm not really worried about any injuries, I don't plan to make a career out of it. This is the first year I've actually been serious about getting better. I was only a backup for three positions last year but I'll probably be able to start this coming season.(currently a sophmore)

Tuesday, December 07, 2004 at 3:22:25 PM

Me, im to dumb to know if im in shape or not.
Well I hope being 5 foot, 3 inches and 103 pounds is in shape, because every school day I have to walk or run 8 blocks from the public bus stop to my house, with my bookbag on. Im trying to get used to waking up 6:00 in the morning and try to do a little jogging, but I kinda have to get used to it. Though I wish I could snowboard, or skateboard a little bit, its the south, and theres no skate parks around either. :'(

Let's see, I'm 194 at 6-feet tall. Not too bad.
Biking to work is my main source of exercise. Blame it on my Green-Party determination. In this season, that heated car sure is starting to look good right now, though...

A also spend a bit of time tossing my son around. I mean that literally. I will not have a sissy-boy that can't handle sports and fair-rides! He loves it. Worked great on me when I was a kid. Supposedly I was only dropped twice. Anyhow, Jack is getting heavy enough to be a great workout!

(For the sarcasm-inept, I was only kidding about being dropped, and my hands are always around Jack as I lift and lower him. Sheesh....)

I also do slope-soaring Remote-controlled glider flying. This requires climbing a giant hill of some sort. The reward of flying off the top makes the climb worth it!

Tankgirl,

Why does an intelligent person such as yourself not poke your head into some of the meatier discussions? Or, are you already there?

Still trying to figure you out...

Look into a hybrid car like the Prius or the Civic instead of a fossel fuel car.

@TankGirl RE: "I usually end up on an emotional rollercoaster while in a heated debate with what turns out to be an opinionated and closed minded 14 year old from the back woods."

Me love hearing that. You very funny. Love that sentence... Made me laugh :P
