Try doing /ignore alien . If it doesn't say "has put Alien Killer on /IGNORE," but it does say "now ignoring chat from Alien Killer," then do /ignore alien again. Then it should work.

I've recently encountered this problem as well. I can hit enter and it will show the text bar but when I try to type a message nothing happens. I can't even try the solution above because if I hit any characters on the keyboard they simply don't show up!
I haven't modded TT too much besides DLing the 2x radar and making the tank treads darker. Other than that, I usually play TT with sound effects & music muted with iTunes running in the backround and I change the TT priority to Above Normal or High to try to cut out lag. Any suggestions?

I think I found the problem. I start ThinkTanks and use alt + crl + del to change the priority and minimize the game. Before doing this it seems like the typing works and afterwards nothing. :/ I guess I'll just play normally.

I have had this problem many times before. What I have figured out is that if you press the "SHIFT" key while the chat box it up, that should fix the problem. Works for me. Hope it works for you guys.

Whenever I cannot backspace and/or type, I do a simple method that works every time.

I keep the chat bar open, I minimize TT, and then I maximize it again. Presto, I can talk again

Try it yourself.

I cant minimize TT..how can u do that?

You click the the icon thingy that makes the menu bar come up

Right shift does the trick
