Last friday night, I decided to stay up past midnight and watch TV. So I turn it on and what do I see? I have a quote: "Yes we travel AMERICA looking for HOT GIRLS LOOKING TO STRIP ON CAMERA JUST FOR YOU!" I immediatley turn to another channel, now what do I see!?:

Camera: Ok take off your clothes
Girl: Just take it off?
C: Yes
G:Ok
(takes off bra and waves it in the air helling "WOOOOOOO")
C: Ok show us your BREASTS and yell "Wild Party Girls!"
G: Ok
(exposes boobs and yells "WILD PARTY GIRLS!")
C: Ok flash your butt
G: My bootie?
C: Yes
G: Ok

I get pretty pissed at this point but STILL! I turn to yet ANOTHER CHANNEL, and what do I find?

Host: Ok! Show us where babies feed!
(Yet another girl flashes her boobs.)
H: It's O.K. Its natural!
(Camera shows girls naked rolling in feathers)

CHANNEL 3 OF STUPIDITY

[quote]
Camera shows: Girls naked rubbing against a pole
Cameraman: Just get naked and yell "GIRLS GONE WILD!"
Girl: undresses (in a sexually suggestive fasion I might add) and yells "GIRLS GONE WILD!"

C'mon! I finnaly found a channel with some peace (Disney Channel).
If any of you depraved "Wild Party Girls!" or you "Girls gone Wild!" can here me.....TAKE YOUR **** somewhere else. IM SICK OF IT!

If the national trend is to turn away from morality and say, "you can't legislate morality" and say, "what's wrong for you may not be wrong for another" and say, "we've got to be more tolerant", then this sort of thing is just the tip of the iceberg. Now's when I say...what do we expect? People and Producers are going to want to push the envelope and if there's a market for it this sort of product will continue to be popular. If we continue as a nation to reject morality and sharing it with others, then the result is immoral people. You can't pick and choose morality and you can't expect people to hold to some unknown code of personal morality. Unless we're willing as a nation to choose to be moral and have some basis to create a moral society, then this is the sort of quality programing we can start to expect. Besides, if you compare the US to other nations, we're still a bit "puritanical" when it comes to televsion. I remember seeing nudity in TV COMMERCIALS while visiting England several years ago, so for this stuff to be on late night TV probably doesn't seem like a big deal to some.

So, either turn it off and start promoting morality or continue to gobble it up and watch the nation sink further and further into debauchery.

OM

What's TV? Heh. Seriously though, I almost never turn on the ol' boob-tube anymore these days. Hundreds of cable channels with almost nothing but garbage on them. Is it any wonder kids grow up these days cursing like truckers from the age of 6? The only channels worth watching are things like Discovery, etc.

Rabby, I'm only going to gloss over the use of the morality corn in your post, re: social security. If not you, dare I say the majority of those making your argument above find social security apparently somehow immoral.
We cannot expect people to think for themselves and determine their own moral center, but we're happy to let them sink to economic bottom?
Shall we discuss priorities?
( do not even get me started on legislating /censoring cable t.v. )

Tv Turn off Week = Video Game Turn on Week.

:)

Lol Racer. See, I'm not really sure why people watch these things. I mean half the U.S is in bed when these show are playing. The only true reasons to stay up late is to, pull an all night and play video games with your friends. Or your working. I mean there are not that many reasons to stay up late, unless you want to see these shows.

@Tally - Well, I guess...seeing how well "thinking for ourselves" has worked out so well so far. :) You seem to be someone who can deal with that responsibility, but others thinking for themselves may not come to the same conclusions as you and may (for example) have a hard time understanding what all the fuss over Michael Jackson is all about. Now I was referring to Christian morals, but there is still a sense of national morality projected through social morals, ethics and taboos. If we all ascribe to your take on finding our own moral center, that's just going to lead to a downward spiral as we play to the lowest common demoninator. I think we need to come to a consensus on what sort of nation we want to be and act accordingly. If that includes banning "scat" from HBO, I'm all for it. ;)
