ALL ADMINZ PLZ COME HERE! RABAN IS FLAMING PPL WHO FLAME PPL SO I FINK WE SHUD BAN HIM! Wot a n00b!!
[/cough]
...hey rabban, I totally agree, just find the irony of it amusing, you starting a thread to slag off the jerks who start threads to slag of jerks. Humm...
No please, I find these threads highly amusing. :)
You don't have to let go of one rope before grabbing the other. But you'll have to let go of one if you want to swing forward.
^ I agree with Trivox. These threads add an element of drama to PTT, much like a soap opera. What's next- SK is actually Clouds half-brother, and Date man is pregnant with Lewis' child? Jk
@MM - I don't know what you're talking about. I mean, if you felt this was aimed at you, then that's your perception, but I wasn't thinking of anyone in particular when I posted. I've just run into a few threads of late that are basically "Billy cussed at me" or "Ellen stole the scrum then dove" and I don't care for them. That's why I suggested that if someone has a problem with "Billy" or "Ellen", they just deal with it in whatever manner they choose and move on with their game. I guess posting about it here could be one of those manners, but I think the "Cry me a river..." thread would be the way to go (I like did here) and make a general statement about the situation rather than pooh-poohing someone in public. You mentioned a post you made, but honestly, I haven't seen it.
Now the issue of what's relevant to PTT and what isn't has been discussed plenty of times here in the forums. There is a consensus that threads and posts should be generally interesting. My current abortion thread is maintaining a reasonable tone with several contributors and it hasn't gotten too personal (yet). A general complaint thread concerning how scrum or TBML is played or how some mods or skins really stink is also reasonable. But my opinion is that personal offenses should kept private and handled in the same manner. If "Billy" is a jerk, we'll discover it soon enough and he's most likely end up with no place to play.
Frankly, I have no issue with you. As far as I know, you're a swell modder and a respected player. That's my synopsis of you.
(NOTE: I went back and looked at the HvL thread and I saw where some teams were being discussed, suggested or rememebered, but no where do I see where they were finalized. I even counted backwards 22 posts (including your deleted ones). The posts in the 22 back range where as follows...
Supratank
Ok... Since there is some serious fatty talk happening..
Lets not forget that we fielded the best heavy team ever in round one - which was the following:
Lc, quitter, monkey, nuscles, rabban and doc? Or maybe someone else
Lites: supra, lep, rogue, au, treavis, I know I am forgetting someone
Here is the deal: We played three games, they were intense and some of the highest scoring games I have ever played in - and the lites swept all three - all VERY close games...
Now, I am not saying we'll do it again - but how bout some respect...
LOL
InfiniteMonkey
The rosters in the first game were:
Lights: Leopard, au, supra, NUTS!, ROGUE, dash
Heavies: Quitter, InfiniteMonkey, LC50, Chanman, GoForIt, Rabban
Quitter lagged out and had to leave part way through the second or third game. NUTS graciously dropped out on the light side to keep things even. Scores were fairly close and very high for all three games, as I recall, with totals of over 200.
Original thread is here:
http://supra.planetthinktanks2.com/archives/comm-thread.asp?thread=4000&forum=10&page=1
The original screenshots of the scores appear to have been replaced with something else entirely.
This game should be fun, but as far as proving anything, I think we're past that. The entire season we played as IronSloth showed us pretty well how the heavy/light matchup goes. On smallish maps, the heavies are dominant, but on the big maps the lights are dominant because the heavies are too slow to get close enough to support each other.
Most of IronSloth's players haven't played much since the last season of league ended, so we're all pretty rusty. I'm going to try to practise a bit though, so hopefully I won't embarass myself too bad.
On an related note, does everyone think there'd be interest in a full-time server dedicated to light/heavy matches? I'm considering putting something up, but I won't bother if nobody is going to use it. Let me know what you think of the idea.
In both instances, they are listing the teams from the previous HvL match. I read on and at the time that I posted, the teams weren't set in stone and there was still some discussion concerning a medium team. I also noticed some other players were volunteering to play medium or light, so it seems they were under the same impression as I, that the teams weren't finalized.)

Look the world isnt a nice place no matter where you are or what you do to change it its always going to be the same so you cant expect people on the internet to be any diff than they are in real life
And thats real lol :)
I think we should ban mysteryman AND rabban for bitching... Seems to me very irresponsible of them and setting a bad example to the younger ones...

SUBLIMINAL MESSAGES: blood! Blood! Lots of blood! SUBLIMINAL MESSAGE ENDS
I agree with Rabban. I don't think we need to put so many threads like that up. Take responsibility for your dispute and act like you are over 11 years old. (Most 11 year olds can do this, too...)
If you have a dispute, go to the person. Find their profile, and send them an email or IM them. No biggy. I did this last week.
A player was being a twit in a SW indie game. Nothing new there. I told him in game to stop BMing. He made disparaging remarks about my code of conduct idea. I figured he wasn't the person that was named. I called him by the name of an imposter and he got upset. He kept claiming that people were unfair to that person and blame him for everything. (Still using the other player's name.)
I decided to handle this by emailing the player who the name matched up with. I asked if that was him or not. He said it wasn't and I have no reason not to believe it. I spared you all the drama by going to the source. (Until I shared it with you...)
Some people will disagree and find it amusing to read that stuff. I find it annoying and it makes me not want to visit PTT as much. Try to prevent PTT from becoming "As the Stomach Turns"
^That player was me. It's all fun and games until it happens to you. I regret my earlier "soap opera" post.
You are right, this isn't the tattle tale forum. LGM's method of handling the problem is excellent, and much appreciated.
But on the flip side, the "game" has become much more than that to some people, and an imposter or trouble maker can really mess with some people's heads. I can understand how a person might try to solve their tt drama by posting a "tattle tale" thread on ptt, as they feel there is no other way. I considered doing it myself.
Some of you might say: "Stay away from SW. Problem solved." Easier said than done. I know I'm not alone when I say that I love joining a SW server with people that I enjoy playing with, and having them know it's me.
Referring to a different thread, I think a code of conduct isn't just a good idea, it's necessary.

Of late I've noticed a lot of threads relating stories of how things have gone bad in a game, how so-and-so acted like a jerk, played unfairly or spoke unkindly. Personally, I think this is something that needs to be handled privately, especially since only those in the that game know what was going on and I've yet to see one of those threads really produce any sort of real resolution. Sure, others may have had similar experiences with so-and-so, so then it turns into a TT Anonymous meeting, but I still don't see it as being that helpful beyond.
Learn to steer clear of these types, use the ignore script, block their IP from your server if you like or take whatever other action you feel is necessary, but I think posting about it here is poor form.
