The two selfish American speed skaters both came up short in their quest for the gold medal in today's 1500 meter race, losing out to the home crowd favorite Guinea WOP, an Italian!!!

Go figure.

Proud to be an Italiano... Paisano!

P.s. New nickname could be greased lightning!

From what I've heard, those two just don't see eye to eye. Like many people within this community, they each have a different way of looking at the world. Add to this, that they just plain don't like each other. Probably effected the outcome of the race as well. Great for the hometown boy though. He raced well from what I hear. And that's what the Olympics is all about, is it not? Doing the best you can, and hopefully something will happen.

I think this thread should have been delayed a bit. I stumbled in here yesterday and saw the results of the race before I got to watch it on the telly, so it was a bit of a let down when I actually saw the race last night. Just something to keep in mind.

@ RAbban sorry to hear that. Here in Canada National TV Radio-Canada is broadcasting the Olympics from 8:00 AM to 10 :00 PM EST. So we get the news almost as it happens. You can watch it there if you want, Do you understand french?

Should have been labeld, "great athlete out performs favorites to win metal."

Italian, American matters not. The guy posted an unbelievable last lap time which is where all of the others faded.

Shani Davis had a better time throughout the entire race until the very end.

Enrico FABRIS 1:45.97
Shani DAVIS 1:46.13
Chad HEDRICK 1:46.22

.16 of a second.

Do you realize who fast that is?

Fater than a fart, thats for sure. Might have helped.
