KC camping is just boring and takes all the fun away from the game. End of story.

Well I guess it depends on your definition of camping. I camp, but I also chase. I think camping is part of the game. Whoever or whatever team, controls the goal is ultimately the one to score. But of course there are good campers and bad campers. I like to think of myself as a defensemen, a safety, like in football. I will do whatever it takes to get the scrum from the opposing team. If its my team coming with it I will be blocking and bming the best I can and most of all I try and get out of the way. How many times have you lost a goal cause you hit your own teamate (yes, I know Im guilty too, but I do try and get out of the way). I always love those people that sit at the goal and get the lucky scores and think highly of themselves. While costing there team more points than actualy getting them. I know that due to my style of play that my points come from my team bringing it and I did the easy part of making sure it gets in the goal. There are many aspect to "camping" but I don't think it bad in TS. I know a lot will disagree and then say they weren't camping, they just spawned nearby, hehe, I love that.

Camping in TS is ok with me, and absolutely not OK in indie scrum. Different games, different expectations. I agree with NUTS about the defense role in TS.

There's no good reason to camp in indie, because you have no one to be defending the goal for. All it boils down to is a cheap way to hope to score. It's also boring and ruins the flow of the game. I would expect it from newbie demos, but no one else.

Im with LGM...

TS, fine...But not in indie. Period.

I dissaprove of it. The only situation camping is "okayish" in is if you spawn right in the goal as someone with the scrum heads right for you. That is okay in my opinion.

I will BM any camper I find, that's for sure.

Friday, May 06, 2005 at 3:49:05 PM

I personally don't mind camping, it's frowned upon, and to some, it shows lack of skill. If I had a choice between Camping and running the ball down, I'd pick running any day.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't kill camping Demo medium tanks! Most are new to the game and have not gotten the grasp of the game yet.

Camping is dumb, and in my opinion can 99% of the time be dodged, therfore it just makes more of a challenge, but is cheating

Oh, forgot to mention, yes, I am with racer with the new DEMO medium campers. :) But if it's been over a few months and they're still doing it, they're not considered "newbies" and should try a different strategy, therfore, I will BM them. XD

I get pissed when after I worked hard to get the scrum, I've survived a battlefield of bullets and other tanks to get to the goal, then a person trundles up, takes it, and scores a goal. I can't understand where the fun is in waiting instead of being in the excitement, then at the last minute, taking what others have worked so hard to get and using it for your advantage. I just can't.
What gets me most pissed is when people say "it's a legitimate strategy" in retaliation to everyone's complaints.

Campers suck, like "The Bitch", he camps every time he's on! I have to stop playing and start bming him! So it's like I'm not playing Scrum, it's like I'm playing bm! I hate camping!

Friday, May 06, 2005 at 8:17:30 PM

Spunk there is no rule that says you have to always goto the goal!!

When campers get out of control in indie I simply get ahead and stall the rest of the game out....sounds evil? It works....the campers either leave, come after the scrum and give me some game, or all start a bm fest. The latter is fun because I just wait for them to be almost dead then I finish the job and score!!

Evil....YES (hehe)

In teams its not an issue for me as I expect my team to block/kill them like I do for them

To all,

I removed all of my comments in this thread, because I really want "everyone else's" opinions on this, without my influence. I really do want to "hear" from all who care about this topic. This is important info for me as "server host". So "keep 'em comin'". Thx :)

Well camping is just not fun. I mean someone is obviously wasting their time camping. They don't have any fun. Also that campers have bad attitudes toward other people being losers. As a matter of fact, they are the losers.

In another thread I posted about this was this comment:

If there were no people bringing in the scrum for the goal, there will b no campers. Also if everybody was a camper, scrum will fade away because who is going to get the dang scrum?!

This is my opinion.

If its in TS then I have no problem but in Indie I do not put up with it unless its some one like Bertha Campa Diva(when in a heavy, helps to improve my skills ), who makes it fun and is all ways polite abouit it ! B)

Thank you all for ALL of your comments!!! XD This has been great getting the true "feeling" of this particular "Thorn"...errr...."Tactic". :P I think it really depends on the circumstances AND the feelings of the crowd in THAT particular game. Just like BMing, it really is a balance...period.

Thanks again for your participation. :)

Like I said,

It really is a balance...period.

If you, for example hate camping in any form, but are the only one in the game who does, then you can either deal w/it, or just exit. When I say "deal w/it", I mean like what Sheena said:

I just kill all campers...but I do ask they stop before I start shooting

As for my "personal" opinion, well I believe it can have a place depending, but of course camping is not my choice tactic either, but am willing to deal w/it just the same. I'm not going to let it ruin my game, but make it a part of the fun. ;) I'm always ready to show anyone what I mean. MUHAHA.

I camped a bit as a demo but I soon caught on that it was both boring and uncool with other players. I was told not to do it by other players. I think we have to take it upon ourselves to politely inform newbies/demos that camping and excessive BMing is looked down on. Some just don't care, however, so I call in the Camper Clearance unit. I think we all know camping when we see it -- as opposed to lucky spawns and resting our fingers while waiting for the scrum to come toward us and the goal. I hate getting ripped off a few feet from the goal by better players, but I have made a few steals myself and it's just part of the game.

Camping: Bad

Thursday, May 12, 2005 at 5:53:51 PM

I posted a thread on this subject the other day and was told that if I continue to just kill campers because it upsets me then I could be banned, as camping is part of the game.. BS.. AND I was told not to kill the demo campers as they may not buy the game.... Well what does that say about the money I have spent to get this game... I will continue to shoot campers and if that gets be banned fine.. Then they can do with out my money.. So either way the game loses. Campers are a problem in indie scrum, and it is not just the demo's. Pablo your the worst there is. Almost as bad as chong... So camp if you will but remember you will be shot for it if I'm there and you cost me a goal after I work my butte of getting there.. So sense this is a dead horse lock this thread and lets kick some camping butts...p.s I never kill a demo heavy unless they start it, as I understand most are young kids trying to have fun... I'm not all stupid....

Cheers sam... Its appreciated

I camp and I don't see what the problem with that is... I do chase the ball down... I do BM... And I camp.

People who hate all these players who use dirty tactics are a lot more vocal than the ones who agree with them which seems to make people feel more self righteous if they dont like it.

I personally do use them. Quite blatantly some of the time and I don't have a problem with it.

I can live with myself for using them and if noone else can then thats their problem.

I would be happy to stop camping if there were rules or anything to stop me. But there isn't except what people call the "unwritten rules" which basically mean nothing.

Sunday, May 22, 2005 at 7:03:16 AM

I never camp, but I regard camping as another tactic and ignore it.

Plus, campers are fun to get past! Most of 'em suck so you can easily worm past them and score, while they absorb the bullets people are throwing at you. The only camper I've had probs with is Chong. I could never get past 'im.

To my opinion, camping is the seasoning on the steak.
