How much bandwith is needed for running dedicated servers?? I hosted team scrum earlier and 6 was the max (including me) I could get without lag. TG still lagged even with 6 so we switched to james bomb's server. Limit 6 and TG had no lag. I have cable internet and 2200+ processor. Mac was on dsl. Nothing else was using the connection and other programs were closed. I know that cable can be bogged down when everyone is using it but it should almost never be slower than dsl? Mac said that geography has a lot to do with it. TG is in NY and I am in IL and mac is in CA. Sluggy has cable and hosts up to 10 I think without issue. Leapord hosts a ton all the time:)

I can host a server for aliens vs. Predators and have no problems. Are there any secrets to hosting?? I have only a software firewall.

-z- what connection do u have for the PTT servers??

Hosting has a lot to do with *upload* speed, which is usually considerably less than your download speed. In some areas DSL upload is faster than cable upload, even if your cable download speed is faster than DSL. And as you said, if everyone in your neighborhood has cable, that can slow you down too.

Oh gooooood point 56!! Cable upload can be killed if everyone in the area is uploading a lot. Maybe ill just run the server during off times when nobody is really using the node much. Seemed to work fine last night late.

Thanks!
