I've had to set my avatar back to Light 6 times or so in the last day or two. Is this a side-effect of code changes you keep doing and will go away eventually? If so, that's fine, I'll wait it out. If it's an inherent flaw in the system could you please plug it? The Heavy Tank makes me look fat. XD

Hmm.. Seems to work fine for me, and all the other people with light tank avatars.

Are you clicking 'submit' after changing your tank icon to a light?

I can't see any reason why it would revert to a heavy in the code anywhere. Anyone else experiencing this?

Oh, yah, I'm hitting submit. And I stay a light tank for a few hours. Then, after an absence (or an IP change from work to home or vice versa) I am a heavy tank again.

Im experening dificulties putting my yahoo.com e-mail in the same box as the avatar. I tink there might b a bug in my system. -z- if u could find out y I would GREATLY appreciate it

I have done nothing other than go into individual threads, and check my profile (to see what avatar I had). I enter the system using a bookmark that takes me to the Unread Threads page.

Hmm ok.

Grrrr.. Wish I could see whats doing that. Oddly, it only seems to be doing it for a couple of people and I cant seem to make it happen for myself.

Is the info kept in a cookie on my side? Or in the db on your side? If it's on my side I could see it happening - wierd thing's have been known to happen over here...

It doesn't appear to be the fact that I use multiple systems (one at home and one at work) - as this time I set it from work, and it swapped while I was still at work.

No its in the database, and that table is only actually written to/updated by one page (a profile update page).

When you jumped in to the recent posts page, did you manually log in? Or was that automatic?

You then went straight to a thread right?

Did you update your profile or nickserv the time before it switched? Or the last time when it did switch?

Log in is automatic.
I jump straight to the Unread Threads page and will look to see if there's anything I'm interested in. Normally I do not check my profile regularly, but today I've always added a stop to the profile page just to see my avatar (no changes have been made).
I will read any interesting looking threads, then hit Mark All As Read when I'm done.

There DID seem to be an extra blink this time though, when the Unread Threads screen came up for the first time - so I checked my profile immediately and saw that I was Heavy again.

I seem to be a Light again, although I did not go in and change it myself. I presume you did that.

Either that or I'm hallucinating... %)

Just to check the obvious - check the IP addresses logging in as me. Check to see if someone else is logging in as me. Can't imagine why they'd go to all that effort just to randomly change my avatar...

This is just plain wierd. The only thing I can think of is that there is a lookup table for avatars, and I have the same ID or index number as someone else. When you query this table, it seems to be random which record it recovers first. Most of the time (apparently) I get the light avatar, but sometimes it's the Heavy.

Heh. I really cant find any sense to it at all, and as far as IP relating to the Avatar, there is no point in the site that ever references both of them at the same time in the database. IPs just get stored to a separate table when events are logged (eg comment being posted)

It would appear to be based around your connection though and fluctuating IP between work and home though I can find no logical reason why that would affect your tank icon.

Can you try logging out and deleting any PTT cookies from your temporary internet files from both locations and see if that helps at all?
