I don't think I need to remind you guys I'm in band....ok......right...

Now, December 2nd, we marched the annual Franklin Christmas parade.

Fun
Candy
Marching
Playing
More Candy

Ok, so here's what went down:

Woke up at 9-ish, got dressed (band shirt, jeans, and brought some thermals). Ate, then left house with sis and mom at 11, got at the school at 12:05. Damn traffic. And so as more people arrived I got dressed and we rolled off in our trucks carrying our instruments. Well we got out of the bus and got in our lines...stood around for about 2 FREAKIN' HOURS IN 43 DEGREE WEATHER.

This parade was different, the trumpets, of all instruments, were in the front of the parade, then flutes, baritones and trombones, saxophones, and sousaphones then the percussion. Kinda stupid to put flutes in between the loudest groups right?

Now, we were in the back of the parade, right after the firetrucks, and before the last float....yay. Well we stood aroung, freezing our butts off, and waited for people to get candy. Well, they threw them in the streets, everyone scrambled, no one got killed thankfully.

Well bout the time we got started I knew something was not going to go right, something usually happens (someone trips, or someone gets out of line and walks beside friends). Now the normal X-mas parade lasts 45 minutes. So we marched on and on, people yelling my school's name, clapping, etc.

About the last 10 minutes of the parade, two trumpets were talking about some notes to play, then one interupts and says shut up and tells one of them that it was a different note. So they argue...then all hell breaks lose.

The trumpet who was being hit first was a junior, and the one hitting was a senior. So the junior raises his trumpet, and the senior blocks with his arm. As soon as another senior saw this (she is the trumpet section leader as well) breaks from the line as well and pushes one of em back all the way to the saxes. Well the band director split them up and the 2 senior trumpets got back in line. About 2 minutes later the band director took the senior who started the fight pulled him out. I didn't see the 2 until we got back to the band room.

BEST CHRISTMAS PARADE EVER

Oh, there was a fight...

But it was more than that that makes it hilarious... Considering that one of the seniors broke off and shoved them apart, there were people watching, we had about 100 yards to go til' the end of the parade, and our band director is still ****ed about it...
