I was playing indie scrum today and someone started sending nasty messages to other players and they were coming from me!! The only problem is that I wasn't the one typing them. Not only did they use my name, but they used others in the game also. How is this happening?? This could really screw up some of the relationships I have developed with other players. Someone please help.

Jacob(SF): Hi how are you
Sherminator: YOU SUCK!!!

... Like that and did anyone type before you typed?

Pray to GOD for him to reveal himself to you.

That's correct, except I was using an alias while I was playing.

I may regret doing this...but....I will to help you out...

If you experiment a bit, you will find that x amount of spaces will make the text go to the next line, and then you type the persons name, and the message you want 'them' to say. Like this:

Michael(R):hahahahhahahaha I pwnd joo!!!! *x amount of spaces*
Sherminator:Michael owns me :(

This makes it look like you said it, but really the person typing said it, and you can tell who did it, because the text will come up at the same time.

If you're interested try to count yourself, but it depends on how long your message is...

You don't have to let go of one rope before grabbing the other. But you'll have to let go of one if you want to swing forward.

Um, if one were inclined to try this out for ones self, where would one find that character that DJ Wings said would work in place of the spaces. One happens to be using Windows XP. This is all hypothetically speaking, of course.

It happened to me all the time.

But what is that character that you used in place of the spaces??? I can't find it on my keyboard.

LOL

If someone starts using this against you, just laugh at them. It's a child's trick, nothing more.

If it bothers you, download and use the Ignore script. You won't see anything they write, including these messages.

But everyone else sees it and thinks it's from me.

OM

-z- put a stop to this silly trick on his PTT servers back when it first surfaced. I sure wish he had released the code to stop this to the general TT using public, so anyone could incude it in their servers.
Until a fix is included in TT, all you can do is out the person doing it immediately, and let everyone in the game know what's up. As Michael mentions, you'll know who it was because their chat line will appear above the one that looks like it's coming from you at the same time.

OM - I had forgotten about Z's fix to this. It put the tanker's name at the beginning of every line. Any of you Server Code Scripters want to take a swing at repeating this one?

It would cause this:

Jacob(SF): Hi how are you
Sherminator: YOU SUCK!!!

To look like this:

Jacob(SF): Hi how are you
Jacob(SF): Sherminator: YOU SUCK!!!

Ok, can we take the "Sherminator: YOU SUCK!!!" part out of the thread now??? I am getting better! XD

Oh, I've heard about this along time ago, doesn't sound fun at all, I know many people would be madly angered at me, and ruin my mostly clean reputation :S
