Who's actually responsible for setting up, and operating Shockwave Servers? Who's in control? They are always refered to as the "lost world", that no one can admin. I have learned to look at them as the "bad lands" to avoid. They're like the burned outer crust of the TT world. One thing I find curious is that one such server, called Shockwave Server 4, has modded bots(names). Are they just set up by BT, or SW? "Generic Servers on the next Oprah Winfrey Show." %)

Yeah, Shockwave Servers are the doldrums of the TT world. Barren, empty, devoid of human life, sparsely populated by a few characterless, normalistic bots and no leader. Its shockwave.com which set them up for players of the "Online Demo" but noone plays that. Occasionally, u find a lone demo somewhere out in one of em. They r the lands controlled by the bots, the lands without rules.

BTW, however, SW Server 4 may be someone starting a server and mascarading it to be a Shockwave server. Or SW must have decided a little something to make the bots seem like humans to improve their popularity.

Yeah, that makes sense, but I'm wondering why they/someone isn't moderating them, since they do use "chat"? Surely they must know how some of the unsavorys act in there. I know that IM providers always state warnings about specific content used. Why hasn't SW done that? It seems they just take your $20, let you loose in the dog pound, and don't mind if you get bit. %) Hmmm. Seems like a good question to ask them. ;)

Personally, I like the great outdoors sometimes. Gives me a chance to play online with bots, loosen up and check my ping. If someone is a jerk, I ignore them or leave. No biggie in my book.

I do visit SW 4 sometimes when I am bored, after all it was my first online home, "feels warm and fuzzy right about now" :) but have always had the back burner question of "who really is in charge there?" :o I guess Disturbance answered it when he said SW is simply another "client" that bought "server rights".

I hardly go to SW server. If I want fun widda bots, I play solo, launch a non-dedicated server or go to blob's mods where there r not much ppl, only some occasional person, others load half and leave.bloblubs mods also have the best bots cuz they act funny and r unpredictable. U dunno wen there gonna try to reload in the enemy teams castle/area or wen there gonna stop attackin and run around in circles. Great bots. If I wanna meet ppl, Noktas servers, putti's bumperservers, and Dash Bash r good. Goodfellas was my fav but boombooms gone to the land of no return along with his servers like -z-. If it comes back though, inform me plz! Once iv waited a half hour and gone on shockers mini-city mod with legio. It was cooool and Shocker gave me some files for CTF an stuff. XD XD XD

Ya, I think that it's an advertisement, because if you'll notice, practically all the people that join those servers are DEMO players, therefore, they are more incline to download ThinkTanks from Shockwave. I downloaded from GarageGames, which besides Bravetree is probably the best place to get it from. I figure that Shockwave thinks 'Stupify them when they know nothing, and we'll make a profit!'... _CannedSplam

After thinking about it, either Ri or Hum are in charge. Perhaps they trade off?

Yeah, I think Hum's the leader of course, and his evil sidekick Ri does his dirty work. %)

I think of the ShockServers as servers where anyone can be anonymous... Perfect for the newbs
sort of like a "Tutorial Island", seperated from the rest of TT by a sea of noobyness.... :P

These servers are also for us lonely dial-up people who can not have DSL OR CABLE in my case not offered in my area yet. So we come to the SW servers to not cause you ex noobies lag in your servers. How nice of some of us huh. Some of us are worthy players as you will find out as we can get the high speed connections down the road. And if you never come to the SW servers you are missing out on some, I say some well ok very few good players. There are a handfull of us who are good players and respect your non lag games by not coming into them, so please some credit here.. Peace

Hmm... Tutorial island, eh. That would be a cool mod. Have demo be able to come in, and have it a fast download. Maybe just add a couple tree's and a ban=list for those who act up... Make it like repents mod. Have little rock bases instead of tree's and a basic wepons pack. Might only take an extra 30 secs or so. Have the bot's names be "Newbs welcome" and "it won't freeze", "just wait" or something like that. Coool!

Yeah, tutorial island is a good idea. Someone can stand around and tell the newbs to join PTT and get into the action. A simple map with a couple of rocks or trees and no special fx or cool scripts, terrains, tanks, etc. And no codes. Easy load, demo compatible and no banning for lag. That GQ was the first of them to talk.

Yea thats the way to get the demo's to join distubance. Really helps PTT ya think?

^ good player- I see GQ in the SW servers now and again... And I think tutorial island is a great idea. Helpful players could go in and offer tips and pointers. I don't see that happening much anymore.

Thanks guys, I really hate not being able to play in your mods more often. I don't understand why they offer no DSL or CABLE in the area of FortWorth I live in. Makes me go GRRRRR.. I have tried several high speed dial-ups and AOL Top Speed seems to work best for me. Average ping is around 196 or so. I hate some of the players in the SW servers because of there lack of wanting to play a good game, but I love the game so much I put up with it. I have to play with all the imposters so it is hard to really knoiw you guys for who you are as players. Thats the reason I had KBC add my pic so you guys can know me somewhat. BLUSH..... Stay focused Professor hehehe.. TY LGM. Oh one more thing, just wait till I do get high speed your all in trouble. Lol Team Scrum here I come...
