Heh heh heh.
I don't know how long the sentence is for, but I don't think it was going to be for just a day.
I at least hope we won't be hearing the "get a real life" rhetoric from him any more.
I'm sure he'll be reinstated soon enough and the kindness of the community will accept him with baited breath. Personally I hope he can turn things around for himself and be an asset to the community.
Ditto rabban!
Eagle
He needs to redeem himself. Oh sure now he apologizes. Because we're a THREAT to him! I say sry isnt good enough 4 what he has done. Keep him silenced for a year or so until he adopts a more humble attitude.
Ya sure.... I dont believe him I bet u when he gets unsilenced he will start doing the same things again!! So please moderators I would like u guys to ban him forever!!!!!!
What Rabban said.
Interesting how he used to claim we were all silly for spending so much time in front of the computer on these boards, but now that he can't access them, it suddenly "sucks" not being here. Who needs a life now?
I personally don't trust him. I think he's just a born troublemaker, but he'll be un-silenced soon enough I'm sure.
Before silencing him get a last word from him saying how he feels about it and what he will do about it people may not like him but we cant be cruel and barbaric we must have some mercy what will people think if we cant give people a second try Chong is still human and he said sorry he must have some good in him if he can say that I dont know if he means it but lets give him a chance just one day where we can pass his sentence and let him finish it afterwards. :(
Allow me to recommend., ,, ;, :, ?, !, and "".
@ Tally
LOL!
Can you say run-on sentence?
@ all
How many of us have messed up before? (everyone raises their hands)
How many of us got it right later? (most raise their hands)
So, let's give Chong a chance to show he can get it right, but he does get to suffer the consequences of his actions. Then, let's put it in the past and see how it goes. Fair enough?
All in favor of^ plan say I

@ pyro, LGM & Stryder - all well and good, except that this is not Chong's first offense on this forum, nor his first account silenced. You just don't know about the whole story. The moderators know what I'm talking about though. There may even be other incidences that I don't know of.
PS - And don't ask me what I'm talking about either, 'cause I'm not saying. Just trust me.
I'm usually all up on forgiveness and second chances. But from the recent play that I have seen from said perp and all of the other stuff that he does in the game leads me to say, he can sit and stew for awhile. The only way that communities ever get over letting the antagonists control the way the act, is by taking power away from the antagonist in the community. The only power an antagonist can obtain in said community is by being able to post, or by having a voice. Chong's voice has been taken away for an indeterminate amount of time, and it's good for all of us to be able to enjoy the loss of that presence for awhile. Others wells will spring I am sure. But once an antagonist, always an antagonist. Reform is always encouraged, but rarely practiced or even realized, especially amongst those in their early teens. He'll pretend to be contrite, but only until he gets what he wants, and he'll be subdued for awhile, until he gets bored, and then we're back in the enabling cycle yet again. I say kudos to those who were willing to intervene.

Well said. It's all part of the deal. You get to live with the consequences. In the meantime, Chong will be silenced. When (someday) he is unsilenced, he can show he has mended his ways and be more appropriate.
You don't get to annoy and harass without paying the price. The price should be high enough to be a deterrent. I also applaud the steps taken. It gives me more confidence in PTT at the same time.
@ All
Like OM said," This is not his first time breaking the rules", he was warned in the past and I warned him on last Tues. That we Moderators and the community will not allow this any more !
There will be a new thread here in General Forums by the end of today, by me, talking about the new Rules,Guide Lines and the Steps that will be taken in the future for miss conduct here on PTT ! Sorry I can not do it now but I am at work, so my time is very limited ! B)
On most sites, they ban for multiple accounts. I think he should consider himself lucky he was only silenced, especially after the crap he pulled.
Chong's behavior is a rationalized choice. I reference his sympathizers to his post. If you think he should be unsilenced in exchange for an apology for his misbehavior, consider that his attitude and insults are not momentary flare-ups but the product of decision.
There is no competition, and imagine if there was no terrorisors, the sad B*tches that sit infront of their computers all day spamming these forums with junk saying: 'Stupid cusser' look I took a screeny of Chong cussing' would have no events at all in their meaningless sad lives,
When a criminal commits a crime and realizes how much he does not enjoy jail, society hopes that he learns his lesson. This round of chong-mute is not the first, nor did it occur without repeated warnings. When 56 decides his time is up, we will see if he has learned anything.
I'll give odds.

Of course he's sorry - sorry that he's been silenced.
Six months minimum - my opinion.
He is sorry now that he is slenced but lets say if we didnt silenced him. He would still be doing this crap today. He is sorry now because he is sienced. But if we didnt do this would he change??? I dont think so. If lonewolf gave him a warning that is fair. He has choosen not to stop what he is doing. Now, if he took it serious he would stop but he didnt. So I think he should be slienced for oh a while. Personally I dont enjoy being with him. Ever since he has been chong I havent liked it one bit.
All I hope this does is teach him a lesson. I hope he will change B)

It wouldn't surprize me if he was the one impostoring me going arround saying that I was leaving TT for good and that I was giving my army to Joe, he's always hated me, and I don't know why...

A while back, Chong himself requested that he be banned. I gave him a second chance at that time. (Note that he is the first and second poster:) http://supra.planetthinktanks2.com/archives/comm-thread.asp?thread=6391&forum=4
Nobody deserves a second chance. Second chances are a gift.
So now says he is sorry. Is he really sorry? If he is just sorry that he got silenced, sorry that he got caught, then that doesn't cut it.
From dictionary.com :
repentance
There are three Greek words used in the New Testament to denote repentance. (1 .) The verb metamelomai is used of a change of mind, such as to produce regret or even remorse on account of sin, but not necessarily a change of heart. This word is used with reference to the repentance of Judas (Matt. 27:3 ).
(2 .) Metanoeo , meaning to change one's mind and purpose, as the result of after knowledge. This verb, with (3 ) the cognate noun metanoia , is used of true repentance, a change of mind and purpose and life, to which remission of sin is promised.
Metanoia is what we are looking for here. Repentance with a change of heart. An acknowledgment and understanding that the behavior was not acceptable, and other members of the community shouldn't have to put up with it.
Do I hold out much hope that it will happen just by one banning? Not really. Will another chance be given even if it doesn't? We will see...
PS: Anyone who normally corresponds with him, feel free to email him this post, since he can't read it here.

^ I think this is not only an appropriate action, I feel this is an example that you can't be a jerk around here & get away with it. If Chong is made an example of, maybe others will learn from it. Its real simple..treat others with common
respect. Thats all..not that hard is it???
@ 56k Lag Man..I feel you did the right thing as most do. Thank you
My 2 cents
What did he say? I can't hear him.
O please!!!! I mentioned it to him and he said "I don't give a shit" Those are his exact words!!!
@56k Lag man= I couldn't have put it any better myself, however, I have very low anticipation of this, but who know, anyone can change! (Ex: Anonymous= lowest of scum bags before chong, but finally became streight before he fully retired from TT(We actually became friends))
Anything's possible B)

While I dont see anything wrong with imposing a silence on Chong for his behavior, why are admin allowing it to be discussed further? Again, funny how only certain threads get locked down. 8(
I see the punishment fits the crime. He gets his just desserts.
I also think it is good to hear opinions on this issue, and the discussion may be of interest to the moderators who make these decisions. It enables them to make decisions that will be supported by the community they serve (thats all of US).
Thanks for doing a great job, moderators!

He needs to redeem himself
I totally agree 100% It's so funny that now that he is silenced he is sorry. The only reson he says that is because he wants to be unsilenced.
We're working on a '3 strke you're out' system.
By out we mean out - we're studying a script to prevent logging-in to PTT for certain offenders.
There are lots of people in the big world. If one is found guilty of unethical PTT behavior
the boot will be used, and no regret will be felt.
We're working for the greater good of the community - not to overly protect individual rights.
It's like, how many moronic posts do we have to erase?
.
Moderators have a life and we don't want to spend too much time moderating.
Hugo
Brain
Probaly a sense of unmeasurable joy will fill their hearts because with chong silenced, PTT has now become a better place. :)
Sorry I haven't been around moderating as much as I used to. As most of you know, I have a newborn baby to look after. Between him and my demanding work schedule, I just haven't been able to dedicate as much time to moderating as I would like to.
I'll be around more often throughout the summer...
Chong and I chat via instant messenger relatively often. I've never seen the side of Chong that most of you have. He's actually been pretty cool to me. Set me up with a G-Mail account and shared some pretty cool scripts that have enhanced my game. The Chong I knew is NOT the Chong that all of you are describing.
Last time I spoke to him, he told me that he got banned from PTT and why. I suggested that he apologize to the community for his actions. He gave me the distinct impression that he was NOT sorry and is NOT interested in making any online friends within this or any online community.
That's when I realized that there is another side of Chong that I do not know. Beings in that I am one of the few people that Chong has shown his cool side to, it pains me to say this... But I must agree with LagMan.
He thought that Dan Mac would let him back in, but obviously he was wrong. When he realized this, I think he set up this apology thread as a front... In hopes of getting back on the forums. I'm afraid that I don't think it's a "sincere" apology.
He loves to script and mod. I think the real reason he wants back in is for the scripting and modding recourses that are available here. (Don't quote me on that.)
Sorry Chong... This is the consequence of your actions. I hope you take it as a learning experience in life and grow as a human being.
What did Chong say? I still can't hear him.
Type /I and you might be able to, although I wouldn't advise it. Fofizaq: the shizaq . how's that catchphrase? Condensed, and it's even all ghetto like.
I think an enforcement of this policy will have a positive effect on both PTT & TT and put the "bad boys" on notice that immature, abusive, and other unacceptable behavior will no longer be allowed in this community.
I think its interesting we're still even talking about him. Apparently he made a bigger impact than I realized.
I heard from him the other day. He asked me to send him the tank.ds file. I didn't have a copy, but I agreed to download it from PTT and send it on to him. I'm not sure the banning was supposed to include keeping him away from the resources available here and I kinda thought about it a little, but I thought it was the decent thing to do and helped him out.
@ FatChick - This is a reasonable discussion and I haven't seen anything in it to warrant its locking.
Rabban, I also can't see how giving him access to mod files can hurt anything. The silencing was for PTT.com, not for the game. He is still a paying customer and can still play the game and mod, so yeah, no biggie there I think.
I do think this thread needs to end though. Just because there's not much point talking about him anymore until the admins are ready to take him off silence. For now, what's done is done.

Ok all I was chatting with Chong when he said "it sucks being silenced from TT" I said I know I have been sclinced but any way he wanted me to say he was sorry and would like to be un silenced.
