Forums Index >> Modding >> How Do I Open TT Missions in TGE?

Page : <1> :

Yeah, sounds really stupid I know...

But, I moved TT1_1 to the missions folder in the TGE folder, opened the racing example, pushed F11, tried to load TT1_1.mis, and it didn't work.

Please remember that I am an extreme beginner to TGE and any help would be appricated.

I used to eat a lot of natural foods until I learned that most people die of natural causes.

Take your think tanks mission folder and put it in tge/game/data/missions.
Also add your shapes folder to tge/game/data/shapes.
Get napalms x pack also. And add that to your shapes folder.
This is assuming you have the game folder already made for tge.
Do not add anything to the demo folder in tge. Make sure you have a game folder there also.
If you do not have a game folder, copy the demo folder and put it next to the demo folder that is the already. So you will now have a folder called demo, and a folder called copy of demo, rename the copy of demo folder to game.
Fire up tge demo.
Click to go into the Example FPS Multiplayer
Then add your player name and check the server box.Click Right arrow.
When you see the demo has started hit F11
Now hold gown the ctrl button and the O key at the same time.
That brings up your missions that are in the mission folder.
Do not use any thing that says demo in it anywhere.
Once you decide on a mission to use highlight it by clicking it one time.
Now hit the load button. This will load the mission for editing.
When the mission loads you will see your self fall or you will be in a all blue area.Hold the alt key down and hit the C key at the same time.
This will toggle the camera so you can fly in the sky.
Use the W,S,D,A, Keys and the right mouse button to move around.

To set the height of the land go to edit/terrain editer settings. This opens the terrain editing box.
Change the set height to whatever you want, I normaly use 250 to 350 for the land. Depends on what kind of mod your wanting.
Click apply and then ok.
Now go to the window button click terrain editer.
Go to action and click set height.
Now click on the land and watch what happens, Also you can choose what size brush and either square or round.
In the action area you can choose many things like add dirt, which is how to make hills etc. When your all done go to edit and relight the scene before saving the mod.

To add items to your missions.
Click the windows button and go to world editer creater.
On the right side you see a list that should say something like.
Interior
Shapes
Static Shapes
etc, etc
Always use the static shapes for adding items.
Once you find the spot on the terrain you want to place an item make the camera look at the terrain kinda close. This is to prevent your item from appearing out in space. If you want to change the direction of the item hold down the alt key and left click and hold to spin the item.
Kinda crude directions but it is a fast way to get started. Practice is the only way to really learn all the features of tge.

Did you copy and paste TT1_1.ter into the TGE missions folder also?

I Never edit any missions that are TT1_ anything. I only use named missions, If you want a new mission to use I have one. One that has not been edited in any way. I use it to do all my missions now, I never use anyone else's and edit theres anymore. But when you are new to tge it is better to use an existing mission and play around with those. Remember when you are done editing a mission and do save as. When you rename the mission add the.mis at the end of the mission name.

The original missions - maps that came with the game CANNOT be edited in TGE
They have undergone additional processes to reduce lag
Start with a Dash - a Roo - a Napalm
anything but the original lush - spooky or frantic
they will NOT show up
