Link doesnt seem to work Tally. It might be a problem at my end?

Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at 8:57:55 AM

@ Tally,

Link works just don't listen to people whom reside in the "outback' of Australia, they tend to be a bit slow. Must be the heat, inbreeding amongst other things that seem to affect them physically and mentally.

One of the reasons I think we have kind of screwed up economic politician in some ways is that a lot of Americans have stopped worrying about the economy because they're waiting for the second coming.

Dobbs: And you mean this quite literally?

Phillips: I mean it quite literally.

Pastors are urged to get out the vote
BY DAVID KIRKPATRICK
The New York Times
Published: Tuesday, March 21, 2006

The first training session, on March 6 in Valley Forge, included a videotaped message from a single candidate, Sen. Rick Santorum, a Republican who faces a difficult re-election fight.
``I encourage you to let your voices be heard from the pulpit'' on vital issues, Santorum said, urging the pastors to champion a proposed constitutional ban on same-sex marriage, according to a recording made by a person at the session. A liberal group critical of the effort provided the recording to The New York Times.
After the tape, organizers offered participating pastors copies of the senator's book ``It Takes a Family.''

Oh, lovely. From my state too! Notice the sarcasm dripping off those words...
If only I could vote.
I'm very religious, as some people know, but I don't support all this stuff Santorum says.

Bush just broke his record, except for the part where he lays it on the next guy's lap.

^ ^Interesting.
From an outsiders view it seems apparent that Churches are morphing into PAC's for Republicans. Isn't it all about power and control?

My guess would be that most congregations would welcome the pulpit endorsing the correct candidates and moving away from dry sermons about scriptures and morality. Am I wrong?

^ probably. Depends on the congregation. Seems to be an abuse of the office however, endorsing one over the other.

I don't think we need more proof that Bush is a moron. He has a stupidity aura that follows him around everywhere.

Wednesday, March 22, 2006 at 3:38:20 AM

If the Dems were smart, they'd try to pick up some moral issues they feel comfortable with and run with them. Often people of conservative faith will support a social issue over economic or international issues because they feel its the right thing to do. If the Dems were honestly more open to conservative values, then they might have a better chance of seeing the rest of their agenda put into place. Honestly, its hard to believe both parties are so polarized. For instance, I'm sure there are pro-life and pro-choice candidates in both parties. Instead of muzzling these "dissenters" or hiding them, they should be allowed to express their views and really mix things up. Our governor, Joe Manchin, is a Democrat and pro-life and we LOVE him (well, many of us). I just think we need to mix it up a little more and blur the party lines. That way we'll have to consider each candidate instead of only checking one box on the ballot.

Wednesday, March 22, 2006 at 4:20:38 PM

^ Nice. If the two main parties are not willing to blur the lines, there should be a Weirdos like Me party (liberal religious) and an opposite party. XD

Wednesday, March 22, 2006 at 10:39:39 PM

@ Rabban; I find your post insulting. Are you implying those who are not of a "conservative faith" that we lack a moral bearing? Bite me.

Perhaps you're living in a bell-jar.

OCEANS RISING FAST, NEW STUDIES FIND
Melting ice could raise levels up to 20 feet by 2100, scientists say

Glaciers and ice sheets on opposite ends of the Earth are melting faster than previously thought and could cause sea levels around the world to rise as much as 13 to 20 feet by the end of the century, scientists are reporting today.

If the researchers' estimates are correct, a rise in ocean waters projected by the new studies not only would drown many of the low-lying inhabited atolls and islands that are already endangered by rising ocean waters, it also would threaten coastal cities and harbors on every continent.

Scientists have been warning for decades that greenhouse gases from autos and industry are warming the planet and raising the seas, but the studies appearing today in the journal Science are the first to suggest that sea levels could climb as high as 20 feet as a result of global warming.

BTW: far be it from me to pander to the right, but is anyone else angry about the christian facing a possible death sentence in a Afghanistan?

For poop sake, odds are of those 20 - 30 thousand american troops there, 70 plus % are christian. What the heck is up with this crap? This is the government we helped install in place of the former theocratic-terror sponsoring Taliban? And these jerks are currently soaking up billions in US aid?

And we're going to soft-pedal around this issue? Really? Personally, I think that kind of biggoted intolerance merits a smack in the face.
